Blood Sugar in High 20's and GP not helping, please advise

Haha Mike.

I dont like yoghurts, willing to try cream, like butter & oils but can't imagine eating enough of them to fill me up.

Hi Scottie I use butter instead of low fat spreads, normal greek yoghurt instead of low fat, whole milk, ordinary cheese, meat inc red, eggs, bacon, normal mayonnaise, pate, olive or rapeseed oil, in fact anything that I used to have low fat I now have the normal fat version but in the same quantities hence why I like to say that I'm low carb, full fat. Hope this helps

All items in bold are fine for me, though the meat and eggs I would have thought of as protein.

It doesn't seem enough ro have varied meal plans though.

I have just worked out that, prior to 5 February (my first post) I was eating more than 245g Carbs and at least 1864 calories per day. Eek!

Hi scottie nice to see you back and the 12.8 impressive well done::)) please give yourself permission to take it steady and you will continue to make "steady progress" if you get your almond and coconut flour soon ,try this it's lovely and satisfying, 2eggs in a bowl, 1 tbsp almond flour,1 tbsn coconut flour , 1 tbsn olive oil, 1/4 pt of milk blend together and into a frying pan , cook on moderate heat for 4 mins ,then under the grill to finish cooking the top for 4 mins. Enjoy::)) ps were friends and you are stronger than you think::))

Hi Scottie,
Glad your back and doing so well. 12.8 is really good. In no time at all I think your figures will be much lower.
Keep going

Thank you so much Clive :) I don't deserve you.

Am finding it really difficult to eat today, and I know I must as my BG have shot shot up to 24.2, It's quite scary. Am having a fry up for dinner though I really don't want it. The appointment on Monday can't come soon enough, how my levels have risen from 12.8 yesterday, I just don't know as I haven't eaten anything at all today. They need to be controlled and they are obviously not. The only thing I can think of is that I forgot to take my medication this morning. Did take it about an hour ago though. My calorie intake is just not enough, I am averaging approx. 800 per day, this last week it has been 500 or less.

Am I destined for a life on tablets? Why is my body not working as it should?

Hows the family ? Mine are deserting me at easter to go down to Torquay to see the grandkids for a week.

They are all fine, Clive, thank you for asking. Children growing up way too fast! Can you not go with them or will you be working? Are you back at work yet? We are going to Cornwall in the Summer, so am hoping to have lost a couple of stones by then, so I can go on the beach with my daughter instead of feeling so embarrassed about my weight and stopping inside.

I'll be working scottie, went back to work wednesday, looking after a group of iranian parliamentarians,( they gave me 4 big tins of pistachio nuts today, very kind of them, just waiting at thier embassy in london to take them to heathrow this evening)
When do you see your new doc' ?

Scottie once again forgive me if this has been covered in previous posts, I have a few questions:

How long have you been diagnosed ?
.

How often and when do you test ? Have you done a fasting test ? If so, what were they ?

What meter are you using?

What meds are you on at the moment ?

Bear with, I'm going somewhere with these questions !

Not eating is not the answer.

Our bodies are extremely clever at maintaining their status quo; which for you is a very high blood score. You may have read about liver dumps? If not, do a search on here or Google for it.

If you are not eating, your body will try to protect you by dumping glucose into your system. It will to maintain the levels you were at before. So, by not eating, you are, to an extent, encouraging higher levels. By eating sensibly; both interms of regularity and food content, your body can be persuaded to lower its levels, over time. You might get carb flu. You might be hungry, but these things pass. If you insist on this stop/start eating regime, you are, in my view, encouraging your body to keep going on this rollercoaster. I'm not suggesting for a moment this is deliberate, but I think there is an element of that going on.

How long have you been diagnosed ? I think about 5 years, maybe a bit longer,
.

How often and when do you test ? Have you done a fasting test ? If so, what were they ? I test at fasting, today it was 20.1, then before meals and 2 hours after. As I haven't eaten today, I just tested for information.

What meter are you using? Contour Next USB

What meds are you on at the moment ? 2000 mg Metformin SR, Gliclozide 320 mg, along with others like Simbastin, Levothyroxine, Prozac, Zopliderm

Bear with, I'm going somewhere with these questions !
