Blood Sugar in High 20's and GP not helping, please advise

Not eating is not the answer.

Our bodies are extremely clever at maintaining their status quo; which for you is a very high blood score. You may have read about liver dumps? If not, do a search on here or Google for it.

If you are not eating, your body will try to protect you by dumping glucose into your system. It will to maintain the levels you were at before. So, by not eating, you are, to an extent, encouraging higher levels. By eating sensibly; both interms of regularity and food content, your body can be persuaded to lower its levels, over time. You might get carb flu. You might be hungry, but these things pass. If you insist on this stop/start eating regime, you are, in my view, encouraging your body to keep going on this rollercoaster. I'm not suggesting for a moment this is deliberate, but I think there is an element of that going on.

What do you mean by 'an element'?

Totally agree with andbreathe. However, you have to do what you feel is right for you. Please take a good multivitamin if you are not nourishing your body naturally with vitamins and nutrients.

I know I need to eat more, I think by not eating this week has caused me to find it difficult to eat. The thought of food makes me feel sick. I am not not eating on purpose and I will eat. I am getting stomach pains so I know my body needs food. It's just facing food that's the problem.

So part of the problem is that I am getting high BG on purpose? I think not.

To be clear, part of your problem is you are not eating regularly and you are not eating enough, so your body is trying to keep your levels up, as it perceives it is in crisis (due to starvation).

You will feel better and perform better if you eat regularly, making good food choices. You have seen your bloods reduce when you ate good food choices. Maybe not enough, but not eating is encouraging your body into a crisis.

You have been given very good advice along the way. Mit makes sense to follow some of it, rather than veering off at a tangent every (what seems like) few minutes.

That may seem harsh, but I am trying to explain things simply, in language which isn't strewn with technical jargon

Scottie - I didn't like being a diabetic. I didn't like giving up Salsa and Mesquite Kettle Chips, or the odd beer, but my reality was I just had to, or bear the consequences. Right now, you are bearing the consequences, so you have to claw it back.

You never know how a person feels mentally unless you walk in their shoes. Please do not judge me. I am finding it very hard to cope as it is. I suffer from anxiety and depression, sometimes to the extent of needing a CPN and this is not an easy transition for me.

Reality is harsh, yes. Maybe even harder for someone like me. I am trying my best and maybe my best is just not good enough.

I am not going to cry. But I blooming well feel like it.

Amazing what a few words posted on an open forum can do to you.

Ok, you need to help your body to heal. You need to soothe it with a lovely low carb diet (which I know you are doing) and increase the calories so your body doesn't think it's starving. Everyone here is trying to help you. The people on this page are the same people who helped me. I suffer from mild anxiety and also depression too. I am having counselling and am taking anti depressants. It isn't an easy transition, I know that. Your best is good enough, but you think it's not and that is the problem. Please relax a little and don't be so hard on yourself...you are making progress...you say some of us are judging you - I think your harshest judge is yourself. Don't compare yourself with others, just be content in knowing that your BG's have improved a lot...and keep on keeping on. You are getting there.

And yes, most of these words have been said to me too :)

Balance is key here Scottie... I believe that Andbreathe is trying to highlight that extremes just throw our bodies reactions even more skew whiff.
Scottie, could you find your way to eating a nice home made fishcake and a good salad?
I personally find it very difficult to eat more than one meal a day and even that is a salad.... With some fruit, walnuts and 2 sq dark choc afterwards.
I still have people telling me to eat more etc but I also ensure I take vitamins and I am a type 1 so find it easier than a type 2...

Balance on a daily basis is key... We have to eat enough to balance the internal organs that we can't see.

We are only concerned that you are struggling...

Thank you. I have seem how my body is responding to not eating and I know it's not good for me. I will eat dinner tonight and continue eating for the weeks/months/years ahead. I think, due to vomiting at the weekend, that I just felt a bit better not eating and this continued into the week and as I am still not feeling great this han't helped. The rest of my family seem to have recovered well, though I have not. Vomiting your meals up is not nice at all, and I just couldn't face food but now I think I am feeling sick due to an empty tummy. I have not taken my health seriously but I intend to now.

Also, I apologise for 'going off on a tangent', I just find it hard to cope sometimes and it's much easier to just step away.
