Hi Scottie
Filling up hubby pre work. My hubby works morning shifts currently.. He just takes a small ramekin sized bowl of berries and yogurt or cream to work. He walks 18000 steps a day just at work. He doesn't get hungry and yet he used to have... 3 weetabix and milk, plus flapjack, plus crisps, plus a choc bar!!! He comes home at 3pm and has a no pasta/potato/bread tea. Tonight we just had 6 small meatballs in homemade sauce in a huge bowl. (No pasta). Plus 6 slices of full fat cheese plus 2 dark choc sq and some walnuts and 2 glasses of red wine (well it is Friday).
On late shifts he eats the boiled eggs with bacon dippers or omlette or saus n eggs or berries before work and takes salad with salmon/crustless quiche etc to work...
He has only fell off this eating for one week pre xmas when his work colleagues kept taking in doughnuts and there was free buffet food for a week. It wasn't from getting bored, but because he wanted to be the same as his colleagues. He realised that after putting on 6lb in a week that it wasn't good! So stopped immediately.
Its good to read your familys eating as it helps us to try and help you.
Incidentally. I'm not sure if this advice is correct for type 2's as well but I was always told (type 1 though) not to physically work or work if my bloods were anove 12 because something above that level and exercising can make them go higher.
What is your GP doing about meds to reduce your levels? These higher levels are going on too long.
Have what they have without the spuds and just give yourself extra veg. Easy.
Celeriac can be mashed just like spuds, try it, daughter might even prefer it to spuds, I do. Add some butter, salt and pepper, can also be used to top shepherds pie, I'm making that tomorrow.
Also try it with mashed with grated cheese, put in ovenproof dish with more grated cheese on top and bake till cheese is toasted. You could ring the changes by adding bacon, tuna flakes, sausages, anything you like and serve with meat/fish, salad or veg.
Explain to them that you have to change your way of eating otherwise you'll be in serious trouble, but that you need their help. Diabetes can run in families so it would be best for them too.
Carbs n cals good but doesn't really give ideas on low carbing as it really is based upon pictures of all foods- mainly carb laden.

Yes, I do worry about that, my son inparticular though he has been very suportive this last week and has, himself been eating salads etc instead of other food.
My GP is not doing anything, we are waiting for confirmation of registering with another practice.
