Blood Sugar in High 20's and GP not helping, please advise

BT

I read that as 16.1 last nite and 24 this morning
Reduced a little Scottie... !

If you going to be busy today and your levels start to rise then personally I would stop the physical jobs if it were me.

Sometimes if levels are above 12 then activity can raise them more. Sometimes it can lower them but you need to be watching what happens in your body.

Agreed. Take it slow ..... mark your time, your effort and your sugars.

This is not a race

I do ....

OK ...... pies are out (pastries) as are sandwiches. They skyrocket your sugars

Change of diet is one thing. Change of attitude is another. Please take care

Hello Mike

I have cut out all that stuff. Am eating low carbs, think I must have misread your post, I thought you asked what was I eating before, not what my reading was before I ate.

That is weird Scottie.

It should have dropped overnite (not risen) given the (low) carbs ..... any drinks in between? Water ?? Exercise ??

It'll take time so please press on :)

Mike

Just water Mike. Trying to drink plenty to flush me out.

Yes, I will press on. One of my books has arrived today so I shall busy reading that when not cleaning.

Drinking water is good .. But don't drink too much as it can make you feel very unwell and even be dangerous! Try eating some cuecumber that can be refreshing (or is that just me !)

Good news.

That said, I would not do TOO much cleaning ... or anything else for that matter.

You're new to this and it will take time ...... I'd suggest some REALLY light exercise (get the legs and arms moving) but do NOT overdo it.

It will take months of work (been there, done that) and I turned it around in 3. Patience, patience.

There's not a finish line for anyone here, just markers to keep you going. No one in their right mind would suggest you can do this all at once.

It is your diet, your routine, your commitment and ABOVE all, your mindset.

ONE thing at a time. Knock one over, then move on.

Mike

All diabetics can get dawn phenomen. Thats why earlier in postings I suggested to do a 3am read to establish whether Scottie was getting a liver dump...

I have just cleaned the kitchen and I enjoyed it though now I feel dizzy so perhaps will have a rest.

Had lunch 2 x crispbreads = 12.4 g of carbs, butter and Mattersons smoked sausgae toppings (no carbs).

On the shopping list for today is Total Sweet, Celeriac, Kippers, still things to think of.

Wonderful .. Don't over do things .. It's small steps for big results

Hello Donnelly, I must have missed those post as never heard of this before. What exactly is it?

Mot all diabetics get this but if you read @ally1 post you will see that her readings are always higher in the mornings. Some get it, some don't.

Sometimes it referred to as DP.

Our livers kick in for some of us early in the morning. I know I'm a type 1 but below is a profile of how much extra insulin I have to give due to DP.

Type 2's get DP but I'm not sure how type 2's can reduce it from occuring so I'm a bit useless there..

Thats why I think there is a T2 posting relating to morning fadting readings.

I suggest a 3am reading as this would probably be the lowest point of your levels dropping and it would confirm that you are experiencing DP.

Have a look at just how much extra insulin I have to pump through to keep my levels good from early in morning... It makes you realise how DP can be affecting you and to find out the best way for a T2 to control it.ImageUploadedByDCUK Forum1423918162.879933.jpg

I'm doing my own investigations here to find out how to stop my DP. http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/fed-up-with-constant-high-morning-levels.71879/ I can rise from around 8 at bedtime to 15 next morning, made a bit of a breathrough this morning though ;)

Thank you Janie, Do they sell this in most supermarkets?
I must stop reading this forum, I was thinking of you when I was out shopping this morning Scottie :hilarious:.
No, seriously I was in the greengrocers which is where I usually buy celeriac and saw some and thought of you. I don't know about supermarkets, but I see someone has posted an Asda link above so it looks promising.
I hope you are feeling better after your post cleaning rest. Take care won't you x

Thank you Janie.
I'm sorry I'm haunting you.

Hubby has bought some celeriac and now I will do some research on how to cook it.

I seem to be having ups and downs, I was fine this morning but seem to have go downhill this afternoon. It's like having a high (not that I know what one feels like) and then a down.

I have had some prawn coleslaw, it was nice but had 5.2g of carbs, so I think I may start making my own. So total carbs so far today is 17.6g but I have to have tea yet. It's quite easy isn't it? I need to start counting the small carbs, I think, don't I? Like the butter on my crispbreads. Once I get to know them all, I'm sure it will be much easier.

I am going to do the ironing tomorrow, .hubby normally does it so am taking it over, less pressure for him. Also, he has a couple of days/nights off next week due to half-term holiday so am hoping to get out of the house and do a bit of walking. A trip to a park with hubby and daughter sounds good, especially as I never leave the house apart from to take daughter to school. Son won't come with us as it's not 'cool'

Rambliing again, aren't I?

Finding it easy to type it all up rather than writing it down.

Well done Scottie for being proactive about this. Keep it up and you will see results.

One point - butter hasn't got any carbs. Layer it on your food as much as you like. Meats, fish, eggs, cheese, butter, oils, are all carb free. When your Carbs & Cals book arrives you will be able to see what has or hasn't any.
