Thanks for the support Debbie, much appreciated.
I have noticed though that I'm back to multiple trips to the toilet at night now that I'm on statins, FBG is up by 1 mmol in the mornings. Could be worse, but I will keep an eye on it. So I am definitely producing less insulin while I'm taking them, the body is doing the best it can to remove excess BG without the insulin. The trouble is that you can't get the specific tests done that you need to see what is really going on. Also a lot of research suggests that high insulin + high LDL cholesterol is the real driver of cardiovascular disease. Let's see how the blood tests look in a few months. I have a feeling I may have to go really really low carb to keep things in control.

Agree about 2 shorter workouts. Does have a good effect. Probably much better for us with our sedentary jobs too. Not good to be sat at a desk all day long. Happens more when you work from home.
Really sorry you’re having such a tough time at the minute, your FBG has gone up but still good, when do you next have another a1c & how many times a day are you testing?
May be worthwhile contacting Abbott for a free 14 day trial of libre, not 100% accurate but will show you trends
I’m be been to the gym & going on Peleton later
Found a snack pack of Hariono at work

Cheers Debbie.
Next A1C is 2 months away.
Good idea about the 14 day trial of Libre, I'll do that.
Enjoy the gym.
I've got a break in meetings now so I'm going to squeeze in a quick bodyweight workout .. maybe get another burpee and kettlebell one in later this evening,
How's the new treadmill working out?

Going to leave treadmill hunt till daughter gets back from skiing,
30 minutes rock ride on peleton this afternoon & 4.1 again, haribo cola bottles & peanut butter today (haribos we’re sooo good)
Too tired for any workout again tonight
How’s the protein shakes going? You must have a lot of willpower to keep it up, I couldn’t do it
Enjoy the kettlebell swings & burpees

Feel really guilty posting yesterdays food while your just having protein shakes
Blood sugar after gym 11, came down with a crash again
30 minute easy Peleton rock ride & 4.1 again on glucose meter had to have 2 haribo cola bottles & a few teaspoons of peanut butter (not included in calories) I can confirm haribos are as good as I rembered
How’s the shakes going? Really proud of you for doing it & great if it works for you
Consultant phone appointment this morning, really hope I get some answers, but not confident that I will
Enjoy your day

Best of luck with the consultants appointment today! OMG so frustrating for for you. Your pancreas is trying to be so good. It sounds like it responds to your liver producing extra glucose in response to your exercise by producing a whole bunch of insulin in prep, to release it once the exercise is over. But it can't release it when you take your meds, that probably creates some more insulin on top of what's stored and ready to go. And the meds also allow the pancreas to release the new insulin and the insulin it had stored up in prep, all in one go. I really hope the consultant can suggest something to help. You do such a great job on the diet and activity. Fingers crossed for you.

Saved this in draft last night to have it ready to just add the FBG and post it this morning:

Hope your BGs came back up again in good time. Sorry to hear that you had to deal with that unpredictability again. I hope that the evening went well and you weren't too shattered.

I used to be a big fan of the Haribos. The Tangfastics were my favourite, and I don’t think they sell these anymore in the UK, but I used to love the Haribo Smiling Bala. There was a store near work that just had a ridiculous range of these tings, like specially imported. I'm sure I was the only one that was buying them LOL!!

Here's this morning's FBG and yesterday's log

FBG: 5.6

Food:
B: Huel Black vanilla - with a hand full of blueberries and raspberries
L: Huel Black chocolate
D: Roast Chicken Tikka Breast, large green salad, red onion and avocado, Protein pudding thingy

1600 calories

Lunchtime workout:
4 times around circuit below
a. 15 inverted body rows (1st 5 really slow, remaining 10 explosive)
b. 25 press ups (1st 5 really slow, remaining 20 explosive)
c. 50 squats
d. 25 crunches

Evening workout after dinner
4 x 6 minute rounds, each round as below with.a 16kg bell
2 mins high pulls L + R
2 mins cleans L + R
2 mins push press L + R

The Huel shakes, are freeing up a lot of time when work is busy. Make the lunchtime workout possible, and get recovery happening quicker afterwards as I can just eat in 5 mins straight after the workout. I couldn't face it for dinner though so had real food. Will try sticking to that kind of combo for the next few days as FBG was better this morning.

Hi
Well done on FBG this morning & 2 workouts
Yesterday, little tweaks can make all the difference
Think consultant chat went well, he wants a couple of days to investigate everything & is going to get back to me & wants more blood tests
Apparently the medication I’m on isn’t even a therapeutic amount & shouldn’t do anything
Just a waiting game now
Have a good day

Hi
20 minutes on Peleton & 4.9, too short a workout really
Consultant has rang me back, he’s sending me a letter & I’ve got to go to Lincoln hospital for genetic testing for MODY & told to only take the gliclazide if blood sugar goes up, which is what I’m doing anyway & I’m not allowed to hypo
Blood sugar averages over 24 hours a day look really good but don’t take into account the highs & lows
Can’t believe he’s spoken to my DSN & gone through medical records & libre on the same day & rang me back, seriously impressed
Hope you’ve had a good day
Very nearly the weekend now

Oh wow!! That's great.
Sometime's you get a really good consultant who wants to get a good result for their patients and explores every avenue they can. I'm delighted to hear that.
OMG though regarding the genetic testing! How come they hadn't done that already?! Great that this consultant is on the case.

I was really surprised too, he couldn’t believe I’d never even been offered medication before last May as a1c has been up & down for years
Saw a doctor at local hospital (gp with special interest in diabetes) twice last summer & said both times something didn’t add up but dishcharhed me as an oddity & not diabetic at all, DSN kept saying are you sure you’re taking the right dose & eating what’s in your food diary, think that’s why she put me on libre & said I had to stay on it until they found out what was going on
Someone on this forum suggested MODY last year & when I mentioned it to nurse & she did a calculation it was over 3times higher than when they test for it, then finding out my dad (also thin)was on the verge of being diabetic before he died
Still might not be that think the probability is nearly 80% now)
Only taken 25 years & 3 offers of insulin

Thankfully you had a good DSN!! OMG a GP with special interest in diabetes!! Not that much of a special interest, and too much of a GP hat on still - and not enough specialist experience. Really good that you have a proper consultant now who is going to test for it. If it is MODY at least they will find out now and adapt your treatment plan. Sorry that you had to go through all that. Exasperating! But finally you are being seen by a proper specialist. That is really good news.

Good morning
Your FBG is fantastic as usual, how long are you planning shakes for 2 meals for? Probably not sustainable in the long term
Good luck for the tooth extraction, you’ll be needing those protein shakes after, wisdom teeth have very long roots, I had an impacted one as a teenager so they took all 4 out under general anaesthetic
Sure you’ll be fine, hopefully you won’t feel a thing
Hope you’ve got plenty of painkillers in
Have a lovely weekend with your daughter
