Thank you so much for the nomination @jpscloud very thoughtful but it's not possible for me at this time.
Wonder if the knowledgeable and regular forum contributors @MrsA2 and @LivingLightly would be interested?
Thank you @shelley262 but my limited eyesight and consequent terrible slow typing prevent me form doing lengthy, accurate posts. I wouldn't be safe and would likely mistype a "not" for a "must" with dire outcomes

I think our Moderators are brilliant and get much from being part of a team. I'd like to encourage anyone even mildly interested to come forward. It must be very rewarding

Thank you for thinking of me @shelley262 and @MrsA2.

I want to tell you how grateful I feel to members of this forum. The mutual and collective support you have given to me and to each other is inspirational.

I would like to give something back to this community, but unfortunately it's not possible for me at this time..

Thank you very much, @Rachox, it's greatly appreciated. But I'm not here often enough, and am at work most days.

Working shouldn't be a barrier to being a Mod. Everyone has a life to lead, and whilst some Mods happen to be ladies who lunch or gentlemen of the golf course, that's not always been the case. Some of those lady lunchers or golf addicts will also have other things occupying their days.

Each Mod gives what they can, and of course that can very week on week or month on month.

I'm not saying any of that to put you under pressure, but more to clarify a potential misconception.

@IanBish i second everything @AndBreathe says - it’s a voluntary role and it fits around you not you around it. All the current mods have varying levels of commitment and we are all supportive with each other, it’s also fair to point out we all bring something different & different skills which is very important to the modding process

I would like to nominate @Grant_Vicat, not so much because he has a lot of experience living with diabetes and personal experience of serious complications, but because I think that a moderator with such beautiful and correct English could make this forum more cool

I would like to second this- I work basically full time in an extremely stressful job (lawyer) and have 3 (adult) children with disabilities. I don't have the capacity for lots of hours but feel I do contribute to the team. The team is very supportive of my capacity. As others have said we all bring different things to the team :)

I second this nomination.
I also know you've been nominated yourself before, and your need for using translation software was a reason to decline.
This sounds like you've been working actively on your English, and what's more, loving the language!
With a combination of getting much better at English, and translation software getting better, I see possibilities...

Another thing is the ugly political situation you're currently dealing with.
I have no idea if being a mod could pose a danger for you. If so, please decline!

I'm nominating @Zhnyaka .

Thank you both @Zhnyaka and @Antje77 I am both flattered and astonished! Having read several posts about the work involved, my main concern is my lack of technologiical ability. I'm prepared to give this a go!:oldman:

There is something particularly wonderful about a diabetes forum even discussing this.

Well my tech knowledge is in the single percentage figures and I’m still here lol - like I mentioned further up the thread we all have different skills to bring to the table - tech not being one of mine either ;)

Could we have a list of current nominees and whether they have been seconded, accepted or declined?
I think it is usual for the current mods to keep this list updated in the first post.
I find it helps when considering who to nominate and easier than scanning through the complete thread.

Thank you for that observation @In Response
Generally it is @Administrator who manages the nominations thread, and later the voting thread.
Mods can assist, but need to remain as impartial as possible.
The fact that there hasn’t yet been an update in the opening thread, demonstrates that with a small team, the priorities we have in keeping the forum safe, have left little time for less urgent tasks.
An update will be made available soon as there is time.

are you sure you want to see a moderator who, wanting to ask a person about their health, can make a tracing paper from native language and use a reflexive pronoun, and then be surprised that the answer is "I don't answer such vulgarities" :hilarious: ? Yes, I really didn't know that reflexive pronouns are not used with the word "feel"

in fact, both my teachers at school and the university were able to achieve only that I passed the exam with a minimum score and then completely failed listening. I don't mind deleting spam in the morning, especially since the difference of 3 hours helps here, but I'm unlikely to be able to do anything else, because I often don't understand the problem in how I translate the message or what the person is really saying. I really wouldn't consider something like "stop whining and go to work" rude, because this is a typical communication style in my environment

and how normal is it to have a Russian hacker as a moderator of a British forum? It seems to me that this is somehow wrong. I just wanted to talk about how much Banting and Best's role in the discovery of insulin is exaggerated, but in the end I stayed on this forum longer than I planned :D
