Forum upgrade

Thank you. But I have more than 5 Emotions! - I think...?
More likely me using wrong terminology

at moment i have the old smilies showing about 70+ things

i did mean the LIKE button has FIVE choices.

My apologies

Thanks for the long awaited update to version two of the forum software.

Yes, I feel exactly the same. I can hardly read it on my tablet.
Try changing the style, under your profile under preferences.
Default seems to have a red banner, Ui.X has a blue banner and works best for me. Ui.X dark is white on a black background

This isn't an upgrade. It's virtually unusable for me now. Not worth the effort.
I've noticed in general that many web site "upgrades" are definitely the opposite. I've had the growing impression over recent years that web "deeziners" are now replacing original decent working web sites with useless, trendy gimmicky ones, tending to make them more difficult to actually use...

It does seem to be quicker so far
And have just gone past the 11pm witching hour when it often got extremely slow, if worked at all.
Yes it may take a few tweaks, and it could have come out with a user guide, but if we can cope with diabetes, we can surely cope with thus, together?

Just trawling through all these comments. I use the app and all looks the same. Will have to go into the website and see what all the fuss is about.
It did ask me to log in to post. I ignored it

Thank you. Have tried this one and it is also quite pale and hard to read on my kindle fire. Hopefully the website tech people can sort this out and improve b the upgrade.

Hi @Krystyna23040 .

I don't normally use my kindle fire for the forum, books mainly, but I do find the white text on black background easier on my eyes when reading.

Not sure if you have ever tried it ?

Only mention, as currently using my kindle fire (8” 10,th gen )
And the forum under user preferences ...see your avatar top right of page and tap to open)

The DARK version is the same and as I say, much easier on my eyes and so much clearer then the 2 pale versions.

Worth a try if you can access them ok.

Pm me if it's still causing issues...happy to try to help at my end.

Hi everybody - just a note to say that the forum upgrade has now finished. The forum should now be faster, lighter, and speedier to load.

We'll be changing a few of the colours today and over the weekend, so watch this space! :)
The favicon is still missing btw

For those that don't know what I mean, its the icon that shows on the tab for the page in the browser

Finally, the diabetes.do.uk forum has joined other fora into the 21st century.
Thank you for the investment.

I think it is all for the better: easier to use and easier for the developers to configure/tweak as well as being more secure.
I am sure most of the whinges are just a case of people taking time to getting used to changes and not appreciating the added benefits.

In my world, most change is good. That old “if it’s not broke don’t change” adage means missing out on new and better (and more secure). Remember, the update is not just for user: it is also for the administrators who users complain about not correcting bugs fast enough. Happy developers/administrators lead to happier users.
I am sure there were people injecting insulin with syringes and happy to sterilise the daggers thinking insulin pens were unnecessary about 20 years ago.

Surely you, as a T1, would agree that the omission of the members type next to the avatar is problematic? It is cumbersome to have to look at the person's profile every time you want to help someone. Also some people keep their profiles private, so it is impossible to check for type and medication.

I am no Luddite. I love technology and progress, but he techies could have worked with the software without changing colours.

I agree!!!

From other fora that use the same platform, this looks like a simple tweak/configuration.
Plus there seem to be many new members who don’t include type.

This colour has been changed back from calming blue to aggressive red again. Again, a simple tweak.

I think these are all things the admin/developers could have tested first with a small beta audience but they are minor compared to security risks.
