I saw the Diabetes Nurse today and got the good news that my Hba1c has gone from 66 (this time last year) to 39 today.

I am so pleased and I am determined to continue eating low carb and to lose the rest of the weight (still quite a bit) to get down to a healthy BMI.

When I first was diagnosed I didn't know about this forum and I was still eating "healthy" carbs, you know, the brown bread, the porridge and brown rice that is recommended and my numbers only got down to 59 (March this year) with the help of Metformin. I found this forum in May and thanks to the information on here, I cut most of the carbs out and now I eat less than 50g carbs a day (often much less).

So, thank you very much for your help!

Wow! From an HbA1c result of 66 down to 39 mmol/mol in 12 months is no mean feat.

It's good to know that membership of this forum has played a part, but you deserve the credit for persevering with a change of lifestyle. Congratulations and well done you!

Awww, I am so happy for you - awesome result. You do realise that you help so many of us, don’t you? It’s a 2-way street of lovely neighbours.

Thank you so much @KennyA @Rachox @IanBish and yes, @JenniferM55 I really do feel so much better physically and emotionally 7 months into this healthier lifestyle. Thank you too @aylalake the weight loss thread is a wonderfully supportive place and has kept me on the straight and narrow as I tackle the massive task of losing the weight. Yes @jessj following the usual "healthy" diet guidelines was no use whatsoever, I am glad I saw the light. @Antje77 I am a Banksy fan!

Well done @LeafyArts, always great to see people having positive results with low carb.

My experience was very similar to yours, except I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this place very soon after diagnosis in July this year. It's such a special place and an amazing resource.

Keep up the good work!
