Hello everyone,
I am new on this site and I join this site to find useful information.

I went to doctor last week.
He said to me that ;
I AM PRE-DIABETE WITH 109 preprandial blood glucose.

I am very surprised.
BECAUSE ;
1) In the last 5 years, I walk approx. 5 miles everyday. (Everyday)
2) In the last 5 years, I never eat even 1 piece of sugar.
Despite 1 & 2 , my glucose level should not exceed 100 , in my opinion.

Is there anyone who is willing to comment on this.

IS IT NORMAL ?

Hi Selim, welcome.

Sugar is found in many foods, especially 'low fat' ones apart from the obvious sweets, cakes, biscuits, fruit etc. Also carbohydrates are essentially the same as sugar as far as diabetic blood glucose levels are concerned.

What do you typically eat?

Hi Selim and welcome to the forum

Unless you have resisted all fruit, vegetables, milk and grains for five years, then you will have been eating sugar. Your good exercise regime will certainly help with keeping blood glucose and blood pressure down.

Hello,
Thank you very much for quick response.

You may be right.
I never eat sugar directly and I drink tea and coffee without sugar in the last 5 years.
And I never eat cake and other sweets.

But , on the other hand, I like and eat pasta, bread, fruit. But not too much.
Maybe , that is why I obtained 109 result.

I am not sure.
Thank you again.

You have been eating a healthy diet and exercising do don't feel bad. You may now have to change your diet a bit to hold off a full diabetes diagnosis.

This link gives advice on the kinds of food that will help control your blood glucose. Best wishes, Selim

The pasta and bread will not have helped - diabetics have to avoid them as much as possible, as well as rice and potatoes. Tropical fruits are also very high in sugar, especially bananas. Apples are better (but not too much), berries are better still (blackberries, raspberries, blueberries etc).

Have a look at www.dietdoctor.com/lchf, but if you cut down on starchy carbs (and go for foods with less than 10g carb per 100g) then your BGs should improve. The NHS will tell you different, and that you should have 'healthy carbs' with every meal, don't believe them.

Understand.

No-sugar diet is not enough alone to lower GL. (Despite physical activities)

In addition to the "NO-SUGAR" diet ;
We should resist, PASTA, RICE, WHITE-BREAD, POTATOES, HIGH-SUGAR FRUITS also.

Not easy. But not impossible.

Thank you for the comments.
