It will heal quicker because of your sugar levels, and you probably had enough energy to cause it in the first place! Always look on the bright side.:)
And superb hba1c results!:couchpotato:
(I'm a on a tablet so no idea what these emoji are...!!!)
Thanks, but it was my own fault, playing football. Two months is a bit much IMO and I need to have a word with my tendons.

Update: two years since my initial "normal" HbA1c. Current situation is HbA1c reading steady at 37; another 5kg vanished; BP at 125/80 - so that'll do. Unfortunately low-carb seems to have no effect on a torn achilles....
I struggled with a similar problem for a long time until I found a sympathetic physio. Six sessions of ultrasound treatment did the trick, the inflammation subsided and the tendon healed. Good luck with your recovery!

I was (finally) diagnosed on 9 December 2019, so I've reached the four year point - although I've probably been diabetic for at least thirteen years.

~20g carb/day for four years (sustainable, I think), no symptoms to speak of, and all HbA1cs low-normal since (and including) the one in April 2020.

I’m posting here as I feel like a dog with two tails!
A1C test results today show I’m no longer pre diabetic
I think for me it’s very much still work in progress, I’ve a little weight to go to be happy. I’ll be happier if everything is still on track in another 6 months.

Really well done! a bang normal HbA1c!

It only seems like yesterday that you were making your first steps toward this, but we all know it takes a lot of willpower and determination. Top result.

Thanks Kenny,
Yes I arrived on places like this only a few months ago like a dear in the headlights.
This place helped no end , great advice and then it all falls into place.
Yes of course we all need willpower and determination but far better than the possible alternate future.

Cheers guys ( ****** I’m tea-total presently )

Today's results are in

A1c 40. Up from 35 last time round. I suspect both the 35 and 40 are outliers on an estimated 5% inaccuracy - and the true value is actually somewhere around 38. Not much has changed, still in ketosis almost all of the time. If it wobbles up again next time that theory will need to be revised. BP as was and weight continues to fall, down to 86kg now.

It makes October's visit to the DN a little more interesting.

I listen to lots of low carb podcasts, as no doubt you do too, and particularly enjoy Dr Eric Westmans keto made simple series - it's generally very informative. Not sure which one but he has an episode which has a segment about Hba1c and how it can be inaccurate especially in keto or carnivore as the good nutrition can mean that red blood cell turnover is less rapid. This means as red blood cells live longer they are more likely to have more glucose recorded. He believes, if remember rightly, that hba1c is not the best test for long term keto or carnivore - food for thought. May be worth some research I've been wondering if mine goes up but I've remained Keto would it be worth looking at other tests too. Presume too that your finger prick tests are generally unchanged?

That's correct, nothing out of the ordinary - 4.5 just now. Interesting point about RBC longevity. I haven't changed anything and either my "system" is changing, the test is on the edge of acceptable inaccuracy, or there is another, unknown, factor. I've had a couple of 38 results so a 40, given variation, shouldn't be a surprise. I'm going to stick with the simplest solution for now.

By the way....does anyone happen to know what happens or might happen with an HbA1c test when there's an appreciable time delay (about ten minutes?) between taking the blood sample on a strip, and eventually putting the sample in the machine?
