People who think they know everything.
If I'm eating them at home with, say, a casserole or stew, they are lovely wrapped in foil then warmed up in the oven.

I have recently started cutting down on carbs especially bread. On reading about the Lidl's high protein rolls my hubby kindly bought some home for me thinking they would help. Unfortunately, they were absolutely full of seeds. As a sufferer with diverticulitis I have been advised by the hospital to avoid seeds so My hubby had to eat them. Back to square one! He said they were tasty and very filling.

Am I missing something I have been eating Burgan bread with soya and linseed oil and its only 2 grams of sugar/slice. If I have instant porridge its 7-10grams.

I picked up 4 a few days ago I sliced them into 3 and put them in the freezer they were only 29p each, I've not tried them before, when I I start reintroducing foods back in to my diet I will give them ago, currently I'm on about 10grams of carbs from veg and quorn products.

Not being able to like beer anymore!!
I tried one and it did cause a bit of a spike. Then again, it was a whole one and plenty of people on here are only eating half or a third. I might give them another try.

It isn't the sugar you need to watch, it is the carbs (it all turns to glucose in the blood whether it starts out as flour, potato or rice, etc. )

I tried Burgan. Liked it a lot, but I am afraid it had more impact on my blood glucose than Lidl hp rolls do.

Yep, this is what happened with me - I had a whole one and it did spike me. Have to limit to a half! But I do love them!!

Hi,
I am finding whole Lidl high protein rolls have started to spike me up to c.8.2.
I'm wondering if the amount of wheat flour in the roll has changed or is not consistent.
Formerly I could eat an whole roll and it did not spike me. Like someone else here it will be half rolls from now on.

I've given them another try today. Half a roll toasted with some Tesco pate. Two hours later and no spike whatsoever so they're on my menu now. However, I'll be keeping an eye on them until I'm happy that they're consistently trustworthy.

I have to ensure that I always have enough topping so as not to taste the actual roll. It's not that the taste is bad, but it is certainly not bread.

There is no way I could possibly eat one un-toasted :eek:

Hi ickihun
Yorkshire Pud doesn't spike me if it is made from soya flour.
It is not quite as nice as 'normal' Yorkshire but better than not having any.

.

Myself I don't miss bread courtesy of protein rolls but I do miss yorkshire puddings. I used to eat them 3 and 4 at a time. No substitute. I just don't have any now. I don't buy them but when I see them for sale I have to be soooo strict with myself.
Thank god for protein rolls. Is the Bergen bread made with the same ingredients?

I've stocked up today, 8 rolls sliced them into 4, it makes for a good mid morning snack, one slice with cheese and marmite.

The local lidl is a 3.5 mile round trip up a massive hill, so it also makes for a good bit of exercise just getting there.

I had half with philadelphia and red pepper rings. Other half in clingfilm in fridge. Very filling.
Does anyone know how many grams of carb they are per roll. Or per 100g?

@ickihun There are 8.5g of carbs per 100g. The rolls weigh around 120-125g, so roughly 10-11g carbs per roll.

I haven't got a Lidl close by so yesterday when I found I was almost out of these rolls we did a 40 mile round trip to get some. I bought all they had cooked and then asked if we could buy some of the frozen un-baked ones. Total haul of 18 cooked and 24 frozen. Lady said I could have rung in advance and she would have baked them for me.
