Verdict after day 45

It's been a difficult day, as I had some bad family news, that has kept me either beside or on the phone a lot of today.

Diet wise all going really well and I feel fine. 10 days left! It's gone so quickly.

Re: A Geordie trying the Newcastle Diet

Sorry to hear you have had bad news and hope that things work out.

Sorry I missed this Jo, hope everything is OK :)

It's my mom, but although not out the woods, we have had some good news. I'm feeling much better, but as I say as she isn't out the woods, still very worried, but much better than yesterday.

Thanks ladies xx

Re: A Geordie trying the Newcastle Diet

Thank you both (((TP Catza))). So far so good, she is doing ok. I am now just praying she keeps moving forward and doesn't have a slip back. I am just going to keep telling myself, she is in the right place, and in fantastic hands.

Verdict after day 45

Mod Edit: Removed... the PM's are being looked at no further comment necessary.

Anyway, yes, feeling great diet wise, and with only 9 days until the end of the diet, I really do feel proud. I really can't wait to have some bacon and eggs, and that is going to be my lunch first day off the diet. I am SO looking forward to that!

Re: A Geordie trying the Newcastle Diet

Only just seen this about your Mom  i do hope she's getting better so my best wishes to you and your Mom for a speedy recovery and for things to get back to normal!

Re: A Geordie trying the Newcastle Diet

Thanks Paul. She is conscious now, and behaving very badly because she wants to go home. As she can't she is not a happy bunny at all, and being very tyrannical. While the staff see right through her act, I have to smile, she is still here to be a tyrant. I am going to see her in the morning, I will pass along your good wishes.

Joanna.

Mom is a little better, her oxygen level has gone down a bit, and so she has to stay put with oxygen until they sort it out. They are also testing to see how much her heart has been damaged. She is finally calming down, but just doesn't want to be there. Hard, but she has to stay, and as much as she knows this, she isn't happy, but is accepting.

Re: A Geordie trying the Newcastle Diet

Defren

I have read right through this thread today and would like to ask you a couple of questions please. Whilst on such a low carb/calorie intake, did you suffer from any problems with your bowels? I note you are drinking plenty so that would help. Also, can you tell me what the Atkins ready made shakes are sweetened with? Most vlc products are sweetened with sweeteners and sweeteners play havoc with IBS and as such I would not be able to take them.

Thanks

Jude :)

Re: A Geordie trying the Newcastle Diet

Hi, I did have odd bouts of constipation, but it was rare. I didn't need to do anything as it always sorted it's self out. Atkins are sweetened with Sucralose. If the Atkins shakes are no good and you are thinking of the ND, people have also used Slimfast and Tesco's own brand. Perhaps they would be better?

Verdict after day 48

Emotionally wiped out, and very, very tired.

Tomorrow is the end of week 7, roll on the end of week 8. It's hard, I need comfort food (low carb) I need to feel low and be able to head to the fridge. Why the hell am I putting myself through this? The last three days have been hard. I haven't cheated, though Lord knows how!

Tried to make myself better with a LOT of retail therapy today. It worked for all of about two hours...

Re: A Geordie trying the Newcastle Diet

you're putting yourself through it because the end rewards WILL be worth all the pain... keep going. It would be a waste to give up now when you're so close to the end :)

I know love, and I won't quit, but I just feel so drained. I'm so tired, it's all emotional stress with my mom, and I know it won't last, but I promised to keep this real, and this is how I feel today. Tomorrow could be a complete U turn. :D
