Hi am type 2 and a fellow type 2 said these skinny whip bars are OK to eat but am not so sure
It depends on if you restrict your carb intake. I personally keep to under 40g/day. These bars are between 11 and 15g carbs each depending on flavour. Too much for me, but it’s up to each person to decide.

Hi @Irishmist66 I used to have those bars as they are low calorie. However a little over on the carbs really. But what I have found works best for me is to totally avoid all chocolate bars other than a 'once in a while' square or two of 85 or 90 per cent dark chocolate. I find that once I have that sweet chocolate taste of other bars on my tongue it makes me creep up to eating more. You may be different of course. Strange, but after my three and a half day fast that I broke on Monday I have had absolutely no cravings for anything sweet so it not only was an amazing experience but has taken away any need for sweet things. If you can stick to just one once in a while then go ahead and enjoy! I just couldn't haha

Carbs are carbs, regardless of their source - sugar(s) or starches. If you search for 'keto treats' you might find a few ideas that you like, though I thought there were some horrible-sounding ones there as well! I have a bit of cheese, or some nuts as a treat.

Have a look online at Dr Prandip Jamnadas @Irishmist66 as he has a great way of explaining it all and is so helpful x

It probably sounds radical, but I have long since refused to regard food as a treat. Yes I enjoy it and I make sure to have food that I like, but the mental sidestep of understanding that it isn't there to affect our emotions is a godsend. Eat to hunger, eat what you enjoy, eat enough of it, but it's a great freedom to realise that it isn't to be treated (!) as a mood enhancer. There are lots of choices for happy things to do that aren't about eating.

I quite like the Kind Caramel Almonds and Sea Salt bars. At just under 8 carbs a pop, it's not excessive and I can have 1 a day without going over my 40-60 carbs limit

Hi new to this and tbh I was just told I have type 2 given tablets and told to come back in 3 months for blood test. No advice no diet to follow nothing so I am really lost. I'm afraid to eat anything as I want to be serious about this

There is probably the same amount of carbs in a steak with mushrooms, onion and some stirfry - and a lot more nourishment.
Advice from such as William Banting is his Essay on corpulence from the mid 1800s and Dr Atkins in New diet Revolution, middle of last century, emphasizes that the quality of food is more important than the quantity, and after 8 years of low carb, I do feel very well on that way of eating.

This is not atypical, unfortunately, and many of us have been left similarly adrift. But there is a load of information on this site, some very friendly support, and good steering towards managing your diabetes. Have a read around and come back with any queries. No question is silly or irrelevant - if you want to ask, we're happy to help and explain. Welcome.
