...like yours too @Pipp but sincerely hoping its not a selfie,....:D
Yup it is. I am changing shape all the time. Unfortunately not in the right way at the moment. Sort of went a bit daft testing what would cause spikes in blood glucose. The result in weight gain disheartening, so won't be doing that again. Same with LCHF. Went a bit too HF!

Yes I am much better thanks, I hope your pain level gets better too
Cheers @zand . Just have a challenge today as to what sort of exercise to do with allergies bothering me, doped up on antihistamine. Might have to be Pilates in case I fall asleep.

Respect to you for setting that up. I know only too well how much of a challenge it can be to get more than just voices of support for what you're trying to do.
Hats off to you girl - that's an amazing achievement!

I get the impression that your 'health trainers' are linked with the health service. I was thinking of personal trainers in their independent capacity. Having said that my husband reminded me of someone we know who specialises in fitness training for people with disabilities and injuries, and she works for the NHS - so maybe that's the same thing?

How are you getting on? Are you going to get a body board?Bx
thank you @Bebo321
Health trainers are through Clinical Commissioning Group. They assess patient needs then 'signpost' to other relevant activities. I am trying not to be too cynical, but I could and have done that for myself. I know some people would benefit from their input, but they did nothing when I asked for their assistance setting up our exercise group apart from pass me round to other agencies who just talked then passed me on until I came back to the first one. My appointment is not for a few weeks as the only time she is at the surgery clashes with my organised (by me) aquafit session.

I am happier with the physio I have been seeing every month. She sets realistic targets for exercise, and takes into account my limitations due to disabilities and medical conditions. Other health professionals seem to ignore everything but the weight and diabetes. What happened to the holistic approach!
Oh dear, you do seem to frequently be subjected to my rants. Sorry.
I am continuing with water exercise as much as I can. Have some resistance bands, trying to work out a routine with them, will discuss body blade with physio next week, check out other areas swimming pools before mine closes for good, and thinking of saving up for a wii fit console, (think there is a balance board with that). Not sure about a body board, isn't that like a starter surf board? Would love that, but battered body not up to it.

Thank you for your encouragement @Bebo321 . You are a brilliant cheerleader.

Well another week of exercise completed. Despite the sunny weather and my annual eye screening, I still managed at least 45 minutes walking each day and and only my bald head has got suntanned! Here's hoping everyone else is managing at least some exercise each day.

I used to get a bit bolshy with the physio I mentioned previously.

One particular exercise blew my gasket. From a kneeling position she wanted me to put my backside on the floor outside my legs. I erupted and told her to show me. She couldn't, so we didn't bother with that again.

Not sure I would have treated a National Health physio the same way - respect for the system. Although, with a couple of outstanding example they have always been a bit of a shower. I was at the spinal unit at Lodge Moor, Sheffield from April '90 through to August '90 and two or three days before I was discharged, a gang of physios (minus one of the good ones) carried on about the fact I had,'t been to Occupational therapy. I didn't think I needed to - I had a job so I used the time to practice using the wheelchair as they taught every morning and later walking. Bit late to tell me I'd missed something.
Sounds like you have had a tough time in the past @notned.
I have met good and not so good in NHS. i think the health professionals have a lot to put up with, from the system, which is overwhelmed, and from some of the patients, who need a lesson in good manners.I was appalled at the way some patients behaved when I was in hospital earlier this year.

People do get muddled with physio and occupational therapists. They often work in a team. Physios mainly work on the patient, while OTs on the environment and any equipment the person needs. Particularly relevant when someone is to be discharged from hospital, so logical that OT would be last of the team to see you before you went home.

Managed 3 hrs walking yesterday round Various bits of Dorset. Only about 25 today as we were whizzing hither and thither in car to see sights. Tomorrow will be mainly stuck In car on way home. Be glad to get back to my wee bike in a cool dark room.

It appears as though there are some pretty gaping holes in current healthcare, and it seems to be driven by the desire to tick boxes rather than a genuine desire to support. You're demonstrably self motivated but I fear for those who don't have your drive.
It's such a shame your pool is closing! I hope you find an alternative that suits - do you know if anything is coming in it's place? Is it being upgraded?
I'm glad at least you're getting good advice from your physio - at least you know they will have a realistic idea of what is achievable. I have trouble thinking up exercises that would raise the heart rate (like swimming) yet don't run the risk of aggravating or worse causing injury. I would be interested to hear how you get on with resistance bands, and (Lol!) body blade! (Unless you're off down the beach next week!) Sorry! I knew what I meant - I must have been getting carried away with all this sunshine!
We've got a wii with balance board, and although we used it loads when we first got it, we don't really bother so much now. If you do use it in earnest though, it certainly gives you a good workout. When we first got it, we spent about six hours straight going through every single sport and program. We were so sore, we could hardly walk the next day!

Hey!
That's my neck of the woods! Hope you had a lovely visit.:)

Great job julifriend!
You may be wearing a hat to keep your brown head dry by the end of the week!x

Feeling pretty knackered! I did a 2 and a half hour ride today. I wasn't on form, and felt surprisingly lacklustre. It was only when I got home I remembered that yesterday I was getting the beginnings of a cold. Suffice to say, I am now thoroughly bunged up with a banging headache!
Never mind - I shall reflect on having done a chunky mileage and feel better!:angelic::inpain::joyful:

Had to split up exercise sessions today.
10 mins on physio, 8 mins throwing ball for dog, ( I know, the dog did all the running, but I was bending and stretching), another 10 mins physio, will finish with 15 mins Pilates before I fall asleep. Too hot and sore for anything else, but will check out another pool session tomorrow.

....don't get disheartened @Pipp ...you've done really well with what you've been achieving and I bet there isn't much weight gain, you're too hard on yourself....none of us would be human if we made the right choices 100% of the time..x

...ooh, forgot to put about my exercise today, or lack of ....brother and sister are down here on a visit so didn't do much as we were catching up....tomorrow we're off out and about though so plenty of walking will be involved! [thumbs up smiley]

Outdoors a fairly leisurely 75 minutes or so of walking, interspersed with coffee and tapas in a cafe, and a quick ride on the ferry as an alternative route back home. Too warm and humid to do a more intensive walk.

Enjoy your walk! :)

What no wine with tapas? ;)

Thanks @Pollylocks. I am over it. I know how fortunate I am to have controlled blood glucose despite being so overweight. For a couple of weeks seemed to have flipped the self destruct switch, but still kept exercise going. I will plan a bit better this week then get plan in motion. Always get support here. You are all ace.

lol I eat some variety of tapas for lunch most days, if I had wine with it every time I wouldn't get much done! This cafe doesn't have a licence anyway ...
