Good for you, ally. Please do not feel embarrassed about the walking aid. It will help you to stay safe and independent.Thank you.
I did have some strange looks from the older people on the bus because I did sit in the front disabled seat so I could sit with the Walker.
When I got to my road, I thought, please Don, t any of my neighbours see me. Nobody did but I have to face that embarrassment lol
A good result here now.
Had a call this morning regarding my call yesterday.
It was the OT lady and she found the referral had been sent entity to the wrong people, she made enquiries and found it.
She could have done a home visit to see what I needed in relation to aids for 2alking. But would be end of may at the earliest. Then suggested if I could get to the out reach centre where the physio is, then I could see her there so arranged to go for 12.15. I did have to wait. She has given me a 4 wheeled walker which has a seat on it.
While I was there, she made an appt to see the neuro OT man for 8th May. He only works at the outreach centre on Tuesdays, but it's only just over 2 week wait. Am happy with that.
Apparently, the physio that I saw last week, was concerned that there could also be a hip or back problem, hence seeing the neuro OT. He will do a full skeletal assessment and that way if I need xrays/scans, he is the 9ne that does the necessary referrals.
If he feels I Don, t need these, then do a balance course. If I get any worse or have a bad fall, then to call and will be given a earlier appt but that means going to Ipswich h hospital.
The lady was so apologetic that the referral from physio was sent to wrong people.
The service so far I feel has gone beyond very helpful and am now being listened too

My guess is once you feel the confidence your walker should give you, you won't care who sees you. Personally, I'd rather be seen using a walking aid, than in an undignified heap on the floor, having fallen.
Take your time and enjoy your newfound freedom. You have so deserved this result.
Thank youWell done @ally1!! Now that the weather is starting to get a bit nicer, you will so appreciate being able to get out and about. Maybe your walker needs some pretty flowers attached?!You have done so very well throughout this whole process - all of us here on the Forum are really proud of you and I hope you are very proud of you! All the best with the home visit whenever that happens and keep us posted! Blessings/L
Thank you.Hello Ally my bloods arexalways that high in the mornings and are even 11 or 12 some times when I go to bed, but I feel so much better in my head and in myself since I went low carb.I don't eat anything sweet now, but it has taken a long time to get where I am. keep going you will get there. Sending you big hugs , my husband's legs have been swollen all weekend . From knee downwards . Lots of pain in his hips plus shoulders to. Pain relief still not helping . A week tomorrow he's back at pain clinic . Have you been able to get much sleep ?Since coming home on Friday, I have,nt been out of the house.
My left leg is so painful from mid calf to mid thigh.
Not much sleep but I am a very poor sleeper anyway xSending you big hugs , my husband's legs have been swollen all weekend . From knee downwards . Lots of pain in his hips plus shoulders to. I went into town with my walker, got on and off the bus ok with the walker ok. It was the first time I have left the house since last Friday. I was very self consious but it was easier once I was out and about. Nobody battered an eyelid which helped. I didn"t see any of my neighbours, so still got that to face
An excellent appointment @ally1.Have been to see the neuro physio this morning.
Had a tougher assessment. Checked all sorts including walking.
Has said significant weakness in left leg. Weakness in right leg and some weakness in right hand and wrist.
Has agreed the neuropathy is mostly to blame. Though other factors including eyesight, medication I am on and this bit I am very surprised about, is even my bipolar can make a difference. There was so much to take in, that I most likely have forgotten.
Physio has advised using the walker at all times so that it will stop any falling over.
He also suggested wearing the alarm thing in case I fall and can't get back up. Only problem is, I need 3 people that they can call on if I need their help. As my neighbours are elderly, they won't be able to help. So am stuck there on this one.
