4.5 this morning (5.2 going to bed). Absolutely delighted. I think it might be a reflection of the 3 hours gardening yesterday and a good low carb day.

B 2 scrambled eggs cooked in butter with cheese and cream.

L coffee with double cream

D local carvery roast beef and ham dinner with lots if good veg no potatoes or honey roast parsnips which looked devine and my husband tells me tasted even better!!!

Felt peckish before bed so I had 5 battons of carrot with a little houmous.

I suspect lightly dusted sole fillet served with veggies by my Mum for dinner last night-more crust than fish!
Other than that scrambled eggs for breakfast and chicken salad for lunch yesterday.
Just when I was getting used to those BGs in the sixes!

5.2 this morning, taking 2g metformin and 80g Gliclazide per day. I was travelling yesterday coming back from three weeks touring holiday so my diet yesterday was poor: 1 croissant, jambon beurre baguette, half a small lemon meringue tart (I know) some strawberries, roasted chicken with roasted Mediterranean veg for dinner and cocoa before bed. I so didn’t deserve the 5.2, but am back to my food diary today!

Hi Everyone,
I hope your all doing as well as you'd expect to be doing, today, whilst dealing with this beast of a condition, we're all burdened with!!!

For Breakfast this morning I had 2 Poached Eggs, 2 Slices of Short Cut Bacon, Fried in Butter, with 2 Slices of Toast with Butter and a Hot Coffee, with Milk and Sweetener.

I don't usually have anything to eat at Lunchtime, unless I feel a bit peckish, then I'll have something, or go to a Subway Store for one of their Rolls, as their choices are very good. But I do have a Coffee with Milk and Sweeteners.

Tea consisted of a Chicken Schnitzel, Fried in Butter, with Pumpkin, and Sweet Potato, Mash, with Peas, Cauliflower and Mushroom and Garlic Gravy, Followed by Whipped Cream, with Raspberries and Strawberries, then a Hot Coffee, with Milk and Sweeteners.

Well I was a bit Blown Away this morning when I tested my BGL's as my Meter returned a reading of 4.4, I've never had a reading that was ever this low before, so I thought it was a Mistake, so I put a New Test Strip into the Meter and took another Reading, only to get the same result. So at 07.45 Hrs my BGL's were 4.4,

I've never been below 6.2 so this mornings reading gave me reasons for some concerns, so I'm going to keep an eye on my BGL's during the rest of the day. So I'll take a few extra readings during the rest of the day, as I can't understand why they are this low at all,, but the Body returns a level that it's achieved with the items you've given it to process.

O, I just noticed that back in 2016 I had a couple of readings that were in the high 5's, that I'd forgotten about. But they only lasted for a few days, and then they returned back to the 6's and 7's, where they remained until they went through the roof, which bought me back to the Forum for guidance and support, which has always been given freely, by it's many members.

Good low carb day yesterday. 2 Eggs scrambled n mushrooms for brunch. 2 pieces of 85% chocolate and a cuppa later in the day. Always have a take away treat on a Friday evening. Chicken kebab no pitta! Chilli sauce and garlic mayo. 2 glasses of red. And a few mixed nuts. Bloods stayed in the 5s all evening. And good result this morning. Happy Sunday.

A let off today as my GP recommended I not test for a few days, due to getting my annual Flu Shot. Seeing as it's now Winter Downunder, and even though it's snowing 40 kl away, the wind has a real bite to it here in the city. So I get a brake for a couple of days of not sticking my finger, Ha! Ha!.

I'm sure you must have been asked before but have you reversed your diabetes? Your status' always blow my mind. Absolutely great control if not with what you eat. Impressive and inspirational.

On diagnosis in December 2016, I was 17.5 stones and had a HbA1c of 74, and BG of 18. Next day my first ever FBG was 14.2.

I have never been one for processed food and my diet was very similar to now in some ways. It was the stuff that I ate on top of this which was a problem.
Initially I cut out all cakes, sweets, biscuits and most carbs (down to 100-120g/day) and began walking for 2x 30min/day (as brisk as I could, 4 miles per hour now). I was eating normally, just with minimal weighed portions of bread, potato, rice, pasta etc.

This seemed to do the trick and I shed 1 stone per month for 6 months, when I was tested at HbA1c of 32. I increased my carbs to 160-180g/day gradually to maintain weight as I didn't want to lose any more. BG didn't go up and HbA1c was 31 after another 6 months. I keep the same regimen now as everything seems stable and am classed as 'resolved' whatever that may mean.

I'm not convinced that I have ever had diabetes, but believe that on diagnosis I was severely insulin resistant due to visceral fat. There is ample evidence that in many people this is a precursor to diabetes but can be fully reversed.
It is possible that in the future things may change, but I will continue healthy living and monitoring my bloods, and will react appropriately if I have a future problem.
If I can ever be of help to anyone else, that will mean a lot.

That is really interesting! I thought being severely IR was the same as having diabetes. It's very complex this condition. I've had it 6 months and still struggling to understand the ins and outs! From what you have said I would imagine you could eat what you like including cakes without spikes and BS would remain normal. Not that you would but I do see that you have sweet things in your diet without consequence. Anyway it's an inspirational story and thank you for sharing. Very helpful.

5.0 today. Happy with that. Yesterday was lunch in my local Sainsburys. Quiche salad but left the pastry and tomatoes. Would normally have eaten the tomatoes but as I wasn't sure exactly what was in the quiche mixture decided to leave them. Woofed down the coleslaw though! Tea was snacky. Nuts cheese salami one thin cracker. 2 glasses of red watching the match. I ordered a hotpot in and a chicken curry with rice as I usually do. First time ever for me not to indulge. It smelt **** good but all I could see in the hotpot was the potatoes dancing around! As loud as they were shouting 'eat me eat Me I just ignored them!
