T2s: What was your fasting BG this morning, and what did you eat yesterday?

That is really interesting! I thought being severely IR was the same as having diabetes. It's very complex this condition. I've had it 6 months and still struggling to understand the ins and outs! From what you have said I would imagine you could eat what you like including cakes without spikes and BS would remain normal. Not that you would but I do see that you have sweet things in your diet without consequence. Anyway it's an inspirational story and thank you for sharing. Very helpful.
The difference is that IR prevents the uptake of glucose into cells, causing high BG. This leads the pancreas to pump out more and more insulin to try to correct the problem.
This causes damage to the pancreas (amongst other things) which will eventually be irreversible, This is diabetes itself.
If the cause of IR (fat around pancreas and liver) is removed before the damage is significant or irreversible, then I believe this to be a complete cure.
It may be that my pancreas is damaged but that I am living within its capabilities as I do have under 200g of carbs a day, which is quite low compared to the general population. If I ate the 300g/day recommended I may be fine or I may not be. I'm very happy with my diet/exercise though and don't feel that I am missing out on anything.

That's a very clear explanation. Thanks. I'm wondering what your readings would be after an hour then 2 hours of your carbiest meal of the day, say one that includes seeded bread. Have you tested lately? From what you say you wouldn't really rise much if at all which would tell me you are not IR. My husband's is practically always in the 5s no matter how many carbs he eats. I do wonder how damaged my pancreas is but not sure there is a way if finding out. I'm going to invest in special weighing scales for measuring visceral fat. I've lost so much weight and don't think I need to lose more but these scales might confirm otherwise! Thanks again. Your feedback is really helping.

Hi Everyone,
I hope your all doing as well as you'd expect to be doing, today, whilst dealing with this beast of a condition, we're all burdened with!!!

I've been advised by my GP not to test my BGL's for a few days, due to having my annual Flu Shot, a couple of days ago. As it's the 2nd or 3rd week of Winter, here Downunder, so I've been given a reprieve from sticking my finger for a few days, Ha!Ha!Ha!

I used to take far more readings than I do now, 6 a day at first and again when I increased carbs after losing all the weight I wished to. I still do occasionally if I have fish & chips (small portion) or risotto or anything really heavy on the carbs.
The last few were
30 April 4.6 - 2 hours after chocolate cake
18 April 4.8 - 2 hours after Weetabix & fruit
2 April 4.5 - 2 hours after toast

I just measure on getting up and before evening meal every 2 or 3 days now to make sure that nothing is changing with the occasional extra reading.

Well today is my first time for testing my BGL's since getting a Flu Short earlier in the week, So I was glad the result was just 6.9 at 07.55 hrs this morning, as I was expecting it to be a tad higher due to the absence of testing for a few days, but that didn't affect my levels at all.

4.7 this morning. I am trying to watch my weight. Reached my goal and don't want to go lower. Find I'm never really hungry on this LCHF woe. Coffee with cream for breakfast. Made myself have lunch. One thins cracker with lots of brie and some nuts. For dinner my weekend treat of a chicken kebab (no bread) chili sauce and garlic mayo. Extra large which I didn't quite manage but tried my best! 2 large glasses of red. Weight hasn't gone down today so I'm happy with that. Never ever thought I would be saying those words!!!

When I woke this morning I took my BGL's and they were 7.5 at 06.50, which is a tad higher than they have been lately, even though I had several days where I never tested my BGL's, but the 2 days prior too this morning they were 6.9 each day. So I don't know why they have decided to jump up to today's reading but the body has a mind of it's own, so as long as I know I'm keeping exercise and eating what I should be, then I'm okay with the rise in my BGL's for now, so I'll just continue doing what I'm doing, knowing in a day, or so they'll come back to where they need to be, on a regular basis.

5.2 today
I treated myself to a slice of 50/50 yesterday with cheesy scrambled eggs and a cup of tea. Hopped straight on the exercise bike for 30 mins after. 5.3 before and 6.8 after 2 hours. Used to be late 7s so IR seems much better.

Dinner was a Chinese take away. Chicken and mushroom dish with cauliflower rice that I have in freezer. 5.1 before and 6.8 after.

Feeling a bit sniffly yesterday and sore throat. Seem ok today but still sniffly.

Happy Sunday.

Apricots In A Tin, a story Follows reason!!!. Yogurt,
Hi Everyone,
I hope your all doing as well as you expect to be doing this morning, whilst dealing with this beast of a condition we all find ourselves dealing with!

I haven't been online for a few days, but my
BGL's for the last 3 day's have been as follows,
Sunday: 6.9
Monday: 6.7
Tuesday: 7.0 I only know that I'm doing what is reckomended and my BGL's will respond in time, so I just need to remain comitted to geting a level of control, that I'll be satisfied with in the future and this takes time.
