Hi@midnightrider. How do you manage such great numbers. Only diagnosed about 5 months ago and i would be afraid to eat so many carbs. I know 100 grams is still low carb but i am rarely out of the 6 mark in a day and occasionally 5 now and again. Is it your exercise do you think. Anyway it's really good.

Hi Moggely
After diagnosis I began walking 30 mins (very briskly) twice a day and kept my carbs to about 100g/day. I lost about 3lb a week (a stone a month) for 6 or 7 months going from almost 18 stones to exactly 11 stones (where it has been for about a year), increasing the walking to 2x 1 hour (4 mile/hr) most days and adding an average of 20 mins a day on the rowing machine (about 5km).
I only increased carbs at this point as I didn't want to lose any more weight and enjoyed the exercise.
I did this very carefully with plenty of BG measurements and am still careful to keep carbs below 200g (average of 160g to 170g).
I'm not saying this would work for everyone, but it must be worth a try!

@midnightrider That's really encouraging, i'm just starting to increase exercise as first it raised my sugar levels then 2 weeks ago i noticed it was going down after walking. Now am up to a brisk walk each day about an hour weather permitting and not so permitting  I'm actually enjoying it for the first time in my life as i was a bit of a coach potato. But what you are doing is quite remarkable and has inspired me to do more. Thanks for sharing.

Your BG will initially rise with exercise. The body releases glucose to provide energy for your increased activity. However, due to insulin resistance this stays in the bloodstream increasing your BG.
Over time though, regular exercise (and weight loss) will decrease and hopefully eliminate your IR.
I do believe that on diagnosis I was IR but not diabetic as I have had completely normal readings with no meds for over a year now. I hope that you are lucky enough to be able to reverse your condition too, your results certainly sound promising.

If you look back to earlier pages in this thread, you will see what I was eating in the earlier stages when I was sticking to 100 to 120g of carbs a day. This may be helpful.

@midnightrider . Thanks for that. I'm just going to give you a lowdown of what i have been doing if you don't mind. I was diagnosed in February this year with an a1c of 11.4:banghead:. I immediately started Lchf way of eating and at first only ate 10 of carbs as i was simply afraid to eat. After two weeks of this i lost almost 2 stone. Yes i know it was very dramatic. I then, with my husbands encouragement ate about 25 grams of carbs per day, meats of varies sort, eggs, bacon mushrooms cream and cheese, salads. I think you get were i'm at. Fast forward to about 2 and a half months my a1c dropped to 5.8. I'm due for my 3rd month a1c next week. I have found i still get 6ish and not much of a raise after eating on my monitor but is getting better all the time, not so afraid these days to eat and sometimes intermittent fasting. No medication but was started on Metformin but ditched it due to side affects a few weeks after. I will look at your past posts as i would love to see results like yours. Thanks for posting.
