Quite new here. Just starting.

Friday 22 March:

Fasting 6:45 AM : 7.4

Breakfast: Two eggs omelette in butter, 1/2 toast, 1 grilled tomato, 1/2 piece of soft cheese, small coffee

BG after two hours: 7:3

I am glad the breakfast did not spike BG but not happy about FBG. ☹️

Isn’t 8 supposed to be fine? I thought below 8.5 was good?
The lady who posted was a lot lower than 8 before her meal which indicates the meal spiked her as it went up more than 2 mmol but she can't work out what could have spiked her, hense me asking if the 8 was a rogue reading. Does that make sense?

The fbg is the last to come down so try not to panic too much. My fbg was 7.6 this morning and I've been at it 2 months now. Keep going!

Housework - hate housework with a passion - and rude people.
4.8 this morning

Breakfast: Just coffee with double cream
Lunch: cheese and celery, 1 cup (rather small!) cappuccino
dinner: 6oz burger pate, one rasher back bacon and brie with salad leaves and tomato. Coffee with double cream.

Pre-prandial (evening meal) 5.9. Post prandial, 7 (I ate a very hurried evening meal half-way through my shift at work. Not at all relaxed! Up serving at the bar before I'd chewed my last mouthful :wacky:).

6:50 AM : 7.3. Not happy but understand!!

Last night dinner at a friend’s place. Indian food. How is it possible to avoid carbs with a Vegetarian Indian dinners? ☹️

And more generally how does everyone manage when invited for lunch / dinner etc.? Last night every dish was high carb... I didn’t want to appear rude.. so helped myself to a bit of everything but ate so slowly and did not finish... but i wanted to avoid attention...

What do you do??

Generally, I would eat all the veg, but nibble on the rice. The veg is full of fibre which slows carb uptake to levels which are easy (easier?) to cope with. Any BG spike will probably come from the rice or bread.
Indian dessert though seem to be very high in refined sugars.

You seem well controlled at other times of day though and FBG is always the last value to come down. Unless you are getting really silly values I would just enjoy your friend's hospitality and invite them to your house in return. Then you can present food more like your regular food.

I'm very fortunate that after losing weight I seem able to eat whatever I like now without causing me problems. I do keep it down to under 2000 Cal and about 160g carbs (average) per day but can have splurge days from time to time with no issues.

Thanks... very sensible!! I was hoping there would be some paneer (Indian version of a cottage cheese) dishes and vegetables.... but the menu was carb heavy!! Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions
