This 8 week 800 calorie a day thing

I am maintaining healthy blood sugar and maintaining my weight, I just can't lose any more. I think the big key in your post for myself is the word 'He' . Weight loss can be much more complicated in women.
Yes, that could be true.

Oh balls! I've had a 1/2 a weekend off and just returned from a decent meal ( garlic bread..it's the future ...calamari, porterhouse steak, chips, fried onion stack and 11/2 pints of Amstel.)l I've just tested my bloods and I've hit 9, albeit after a hour. Sure, it's not mega high but unless it drops like a brick soon I can safely say that I'm not cured, just in remission. Think I've seen a thread in this....

Bloody HELL!! Now at 6mmol. Whether that is a 'cure', 'reversal' or 'remission' that is an incredible figure, considering the carbs I took in. I thoroughly appreciate that this result may rub salt into the wounds of a few readers...However, I hope that it's taken in the way that it is meant to. based on this, albeit one off...OK two off series of tests ..With my boozy do last night, I'm no longer diabetic. I would need to work out just how much carb I took in BUT it was more than enough to send me over the top and stay there for hours.

DaveNN that's great news.
To me cure or remission doesn't matter. To me it'd about being able to have a blow out now and again without feeling like **** 2 hours after it.

Not quite in the same league - but I am finding I can have the odd biscuit or two without major spikes. An improvement for me. Still four more weeks to go.

Thank you to you both. Flora, don't worry about which league you think you may be in...at least you're on the pitch, enjoying the game! Instead of being in the crowd telling all and sundry how **** the game is...Jam, keep the faith....it will come.

Very exciting @DaveNN so at 2 hours back to 6? Wow!!! I would think another test on a blowout would be well worth the effort to see if you can replicate. Again very exciting!!

Hahahahah...I'll be bloody 15st again if I do that too often. many thanks though, it was a hell of a shock. Wish I'd had a desert now. ;-)

Ok so I had a curry including nann , not a lot of rice .
Before 5.2 ...an hour and a half later 9.1 ! Not brilliant , not cured but previously it would have been 14+.

Have added another day to the 8 weeks (4 in total now with my 3 freedom Friday teas and tonight's experiment ). I am all prepared for tomorrow , Greek yoghurt and berries for breakfast , roast beef and veg for tea ..., no complaints from me about that

The thing is that you do know what has spiked you and you can address that. However 9 isn't too bad at all. Likewise, your starting figs are excellent...so you are well on the way.

For Australian members - there is a special about Diabetes (with Michael Moseley) on Insight, SBS, Tuesday March 1, 8.30pm. I imagine it will be about this diet, so worth watching.

I wonder if we can get this on Internet .

Hi @Jamrox

This is a link to SBS Television.
http://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/news

The show "Insight" should be uploaded to the site on Tuesday night here (probably about 10-11am Tuesday Morning in UK time)

It should be really worth watching as it is forum style with questions and expert comments from the audience which will consist of a mixture of Medical Experts and Diabetics

Thanks Muzza , I 'll watch it

OHOH went for a 3 walk , felt OHOH when I got back BS 4.6 . Had been 8..1 at 1pm after my porridge. Have to say I'd rather be in the 5s than feel like this .

Sorry, I'm lost here. Was the walk after your porridge?
One thing, if porridge does ( in effect) double your BG level ( it won't just be that, I think..your liver will most likely have dumped fuel) then I wouldn't touch porridge. Turkey 'bacon', mushrooms, poached eggs and plum tomatoes may fill you longer, with less carb and relatively low calories. I wish you well
