Good morning everyone. It's stopped raining but there sure is a lot of water about, enough to wash the dogs on our morning walk. There was no mud on them anywhere. Have a great day everyone.

Woke at 8.30 with Madam having slithered to 2.7.....Face full of pastilles which I've overdone but at least now I can drive. 7.2

Morning fellow prickers and pumpers hope you are all doing well.

Just back from my annual review and dont know how i am feeling to be honest. My weight is down slightly, urine is clear and they have taken all of my bloods and are going to check everything on these. My blood pressure was a little high again so they are going to give me a 24 hour monitor to check this

On to see the specialist diabetic nurse, who is excellent, she looked at mu Libre figures and pump figures and was delighted with the results. Said i should be really pleased as figures overall were really good. My Libre figures had predicted an Hba1C as 51. As i was leaving she gave me a big hug and said really well done keep up good work. So left there on cloud 9.

Into see the doctor, first time i have seen this one, and to be fair she is not that great, the DSN, has far more knowledge IMHO, especially about me. She had my HbaiC figures just back and said they were 60!!!!!!! To say I was shocked is an understatement. Even the doctor thought that this looked to be a little high given my control over past 2/3 months and beyond.

So from going to cloud 9 back with a bump down to earth. I know Hba1C is not the be all and end all but feel so deflated

*Waves* Hello dearest friends,
I think my sensor is freaking out, it is reading 2-3mmol lower so I might call Abbort to see if it needs replacing. But I did wake up on 3.2 but sensor said LO and I'm like sensor why are you exaggerating my hypo, it's not that bad. :hilarious:

Good morning all

@MeiChanski not a horror pump story BUT many years ago when I was married, we were having a row and the ex-wife said she could always put bleach into my insulin vials and I would never know! Needless to say my insulin was moved into the fridge in work!!!!!

I was in a brief "relationship" once where. I didn't need so much to fear for my own safety. But I did need to hide the pens for her own sake..?
Oddly, she had a weird habit of getting my "attention" when she didn't wish me to do things like, (I dunno? Go to work..? See my family.???) by poisoning herself & laying out like an "Amy Winehouse/sleeping beauty" hybrid till I called an ambulance..

Yep, "bells" were ringing....

Enough was enough, I cordially ended the affair whilst she was "relatively" in some sort of sobriety & said good bye..

Before I left I did let her beat her "helpless little fists" on my chest. Before she somehow found & confiscated my insulin & "deadlocked" the only exit from the building. With further taunts & punches with the keys she then attempted to set fire to my overnight bag. (Cunningly, the fire was started whilst she rummaged through my bag..)
Actually, I was at this point starting to fear for my wellbeing.
A neighbour called the cops & 3 officers got me out with my insulin, a scorched fleece top & a busted rib...

But hey! I'm a "cup half full" guy. I saw it as a positive opportunity for her to move on..
I got no idea what plans were in her mind. I had no wish to find out? o_O

I have found the one exception to my infallible rule of "I really don't want to be sniffed at by a random dog I do not know!" and I was ultra impressed.

If a dog in a red "medical alert dog" jacket looks at me quizzically as I get off the bus, sniffs me, then looks at me quizzically again, I will assure the dog that I know I'm low, but I did have some glucose tablets on the bus to get me the 400 steps home from the bus stop and to more food.

Owner looked bemused, but smiled when realisation dawned as to what was happening.

@smc4761 The Libre always reads, or I guess mostly reads under what you actually are. I always took finger sticks to determine how much each one was off? Because with me at least they stayed consistently off. That way I would know about what I was actually at, versus what it said and track and treat accordingly.

It's always a rude awakening when you are skating along at what you think is 6.3 and you do a finger stick and you've been 8.4 instead.

My garters arrived and unfortunately too large for my thunder thighs, despite measuring the circumference of my thighs :(
My bf still has an ear infection after 7 weeks so he’ll be seeing someone from ENT. Apparently they are going to vacuum his ear gunk for examination. I’ve been looking at glucose powders, has anyone tried them? They are like tea sachets of fast acting glucose like gluco juice. They seem much easier to carry than tablets but again expensive but more concentrated that coke and juice put together.

Hi @marie2 thanks for your post. I do regular checks with Libre against a finger check and to be fair most of the time the sensor and finger test are pretty much the same reading. I have made a huge effort in past 9 months or so and my Hba1C has not really improved a great deal which I find very disappointing.

Still on wards and downwards, hopefullyo_O

@smc4761 Well it's harder to figure out then unless maybe your meter is off too? The only way to test that is do a blood test on your meter right before or after a blood draw to find out if they match. Sometimes it helps to compare to other meters to know if one is off.

It would be disappointing to think you are doing better and put work in and then not actually be doing better. Something must be off enough to make a difference.

But all the hard work doesn't mean as much if you are dosing to a wrong number!

Hi Marie, I have 3 meters in total using different systems, Accu Chek Aviva, Contour and Accu Chek Mobile as well as the Libre. I do at least 2 finger test everyday varying the times of the tests and compare the readings against what the Libre is saying. generally the readings are within 0.5 of the other, although towards the end of the Libre on occasions it can be slightly further out, but not usually too much difference.

As the doctor says Hba1C is not the be all and end all. Its is equally important to have bloods in range over a longer period of time
