Good morning all and a big hello and welcome to @Quinapril

Big day here, Christmas dinner with son and daughter in law and newly 4 year old grandson. Technically they were always part of our childcare bubble, but have only had the grandson in our house since September. The adults have always remained outside. We cancelled Christmas way before all the hoo ha and I put anything relevant into the freezer. Even have some crackers donated by our very kind neighbour. Three of the adults have had 2 jabs and the fourth the first. Very excited! There maybe lots of insulin involved in the consuming of this meal.

Merry Christmas !

Hi and welcome @Quinapril! Great place to hang out, and to ask questions about anything T1.

@becca59 merry Christmas!

@urbanracer must be v frustrating, but great news that it seems to be healing at last.

Nothing to report here, predicted rain hasn't arrived (yet) so grass cutting has been today's task, about to dog walk and it might rain soon....

@searley and @Marie 2 I do understand the improved control a pump can give, and you're both right, they're not for everyone. Your point about needing to pay more continuous attention is spot on for me, Marie; I do pay attention and I do sugar surf to a degree, but it's the permanent attachment of a pump, the continuous attention, and the fact that I'm not sure I'd want to get to grips with all the programming either. I'm just really glad it's there for people for whom it works.

i do love my pump wouldn't want to be without it now, but i can fully understand those that don't want it

Our handyman we use finally showed up again. We have a mirror on the back of the bedroom door now, a cover for wires that were outside the house from when we had outside lighting added, (it was under the eaves but really needed a cover.) A TV mounted in the front room and a door stopper for the front door so when the dogs run to see out the front window I can open the door and trap them in the front room instead of trying to get a kiddy gate up. The front door opens into a hallway and they run past the door to get to the front room to see. Yahoo!!!!!

Cool, I had spaghetti, garlic bread, lots of pineapple because it was really good and then some vegan lemon cake arrived and I couldn't resist trying a small piece. Guessed at a total of 130 carbs and I never went over 7.1. I'm always happy when I guess at a really high carb meal and end up being successful.

Morning all, quiet on here this week! My excuse is catching up with all sorts of things that have been neglected for the past couple of weeks, and doing a lot of work training my dog - she'll be two in June and her recall is still rubbish. I'm working with a trainer and engagin various friends to help out with stuff and so far it's going well. Fingers crossed, because she's walked on a lead as she's so unreliable, and she's a dog who needs to run, she's built for it. Won't be doing so much for a couple of days as, like you Karen, we now have the wet stuff, along with some impressive winds. /High winds get my dog very excited so that makes matters even worse, though neither of us is keen on walking in pouring rain! Have a good day all and hope your weather's better than here!

Been to the hospital this morning. Consultant is happy with the thumb and said part of the wound is starting to close up. (Looked just the same to me though).

Finished the antibiotics too, so will be treating myself to a whisky tonight. Guess I will soon find out if my body is on top of the infection.

Picked up a couple of things in town and feeling adventurous we decided to walk home. The wind almost stopped us in our tracks a couple of times but at least it was dry.

Lots of wind here too, trees thrashing about but seagulls just coasting through it, they’re amazing.
I’m stuck at home right now. I was supposed to be seeing a couple of good friends this afternoon but I’ve an infection resurgence to quell, the usual one, the one that really likes people with diabetes who’ve been catheterised at some point. Grrrrr. I think the blighter invited its friends and family in and has set about doing alterations without the house owner’s say so.
Good to hear your thumb continues to improve @urbanracer!
Has anyone here in the U.K. succeeded in getting seedlings to grow bigger yet? The cold weather’s left all those I planted out just sitting there, neither climbing nor getting any bigger. Even things grown under cover are slow this year.

@urbanracer good news, at least it sounds as though the infection's cleared up and healing can really start. One thing I wish I'd done was take photos of my surgery so I could really compare and see if it was healing. I think it's harder to tell when it has to heal from the inside up. fingers crossed and enjoy that whisky!

@Fairygodmother sorry to hear you've got an infection, not funny. I haven't got any seedlings but I did notice when we had a couple of days of sun that thins like the day lilies put on a huge spurt, but I guess they've all felt the cold over the past few days and these winds are scouring and drying which won't help. If we do get some warmth next week I think everything might start to try to catch up.
