@Japes I just looked up the Bull at the Commonwealth Games, is it the metal sculpture bull? I guess they were going to scrap it and now it might have a permanent home somewhere?

When the heat has subsided and life has settled down again in the areas where the Games have been causing the most chaos I'm planning a trip to see if I can get some better photos than the ones I got when escorting my houseguest to the venues!
I went to a couple of morning athletics sessions. I’m sure you already know, but it’s a lovely walk back into town along the canals. Certainly beat queuing for a shuttle bus!

It is indeed the metal mechanical sculptured bull. It is certainly remaining where it is until the end of September, but work on a more permanent home is going on! It needs to be indoors because of what it is made of for the moving parts.

It was going to be scrapped after the end of the games.

I have never actually walked that way on the canal - I was saving it for after the Games and after all the building works in that whole area. To be fair, I've mostly kept off the canal walks since March 2020 (there has been some pretty nasty behaviour, especially during the lockdowns when only outside exercise was allowed - I stayed away from a lot of my favourite walks which became very busy with people not accustomed to sharing outdoor space...) but I am planning to get back to some of the ones I've not walked yet.

Well, I'm happy. Last year I had some aching in my hip after my swimming marathons. So first they sent me to get an x ray and it showed up I have bone on bone in my hip joints with the right side being really bad. So then onto the hip specialist orthopedic doctor. He said as long as it wasn't hurting enough to infringe on what I wanted to do, don't worry about it. He had a few patients like me that it doesn't seem to really bother. I just had a year follow up visit and my hip hasn't changed at all. He said I could go years without it changing so don't worry about it, he'll just see me when I decide I need it.

So very happy the joint hasn't deteriorated any more since last year. Eventually supposedly I will need hip replacement surgery, but not ever looking forward to that!

Hi all,
a quick question, as usual.............................
I've got a miaomiao 2 which I was luckily gifted but I'm about to run out of the double sided stickies which attach the mioamioa to the Libre. Googling doesn't give me anything intelligent to buy. Has anybody got any ideas of where to get some more? Ta

Today I went to my diabetes appointment. My funding for the diabetes trial for hybrid closed looping was coming to an end in December. My doctor said it was taken back to the pump panel and funding has been approved indefinitely which means I get to keep everything. I couldn’t be happier as it has honestly worked absolute wonders for me and I have never been better in terms of my diabetes :)

The whole place has had a makeover!

I have finally managed to get LIbre 2 on prescription!! Only 3 years after I went away from DAFNE to consider it... then we went into a pandemic, and I didn't want to push it, then NICE guidelines changed which I thought would make it easier. I had been given a couple of sensors by a friend who had gone onto a Dexcom and loved it which gave me the impetus to keep going through the systems...it took 4 different people to sort it out.

Clinic appointment in April fudged it (and that whole appointment was a waste...)
Nurse at the GP surgery said they could only do it if the hospital said, (but she did sort the review frequency thing)
GP at meds review (who had to be talked through what every item was and why I needed it in those amounts.) said the same.
DSN at clinic finally took pity on me when I wailed it was so frustrating being told on phone I couldn't be helped because they couldn't see data, but they wouldn't give me the thing that would give them the data!!

Back to work is in progress - I may have just me and one of the returning students to watch on the diabetes front, but I've rejigged where things live because of another student, (scissors, pencil sharpeners and staplers/staples are being locked away this year)and we may have a couple of extras we didn't know about, but all things considered, it looks like being an OK-ish year ahead.

@Japes

Yea! It's great you finally got it! It's so helpful! It's really nice to know which way you are trending. If you get a chance to get a Dexcom, I would, because you can calibrate it and that can make it more accurate.

It sounds like this year might be a little easier than last year with less type 1 students?

I don't like the new makeover lol..........

@Japes Whoop! A Libre at last. Enjoy!
@Marie 2 I have always viewed the site via the forum on my I Pad. To be honest I have been unable to see any difference. I always found the main website too cumbersome and gave up on it years ago. There is a lot less info and I can never see extra info regards Type etc. most people I know and remember. It has been entertaining reading everyone’s reactions to say the least.

Interesting @becca59 I use my PC, but also my iphone. My iphone was just slightly different than my PC in the past. I do not use the ap, just the regular page on my phone. But I do not like it now lol. Obviously many don't. I do not see any improvement, it just feels like more work. And my phone doesn't easily have the options that were easy to find before. Well, neither does my PC lol...... I guess I will get used to it. But hopefully they improve the set up. They are missing stuff that was useful!

I do need to use some kind of patch to keep a Libre sensor on and have just ordered some to try. But, I am enjoying it and it seems to be in line with my Caresens meter.

I only look at the forums from my laptop and I'm not finding it at all easy on my eyes - I'm currently using the dark background with white writing as the easiest.

@Japes I think you have a harder time getting Skin Tac there? But the bottle lasts forever and works really well to help things stay on.
