Ah, :p I'm not very good though, if I busked people would donate to move me on :) and if I sang they'd throw things at me...Tony Iommi lost a finger tip on his fretting hand as well I think as far as it goes.
 
Morning pancreatically challenged comrades!

Steady ship overnight here, currently cruising a 4.6 (Bernstein would be so proud of me ;) ) and girding my loins for more bl**dy sanding. Just three drawer fronts to go, and my much loved (but very orange) pine chest of drawers will have a new lease of life. Wonder if the new knobs I ordered will come today? Quick back story on it - didn’t have much money growing up, but when I was 13, my (adoptive - now dead - mum, I have to say adoptive and dead because my very much alive birth mum is also a major part of my life and I talk about both) saved up and bought me my first piece of “grown up” furniture - basically not chipboard cr*p. So it’s been with me to uni, through marriage, child, divorce, many house moves, and another marriage. I love it, but it’s gone so orange over the years. So I’m sanding it back to raw wood and lime waxing the whole thing. Well done if you got to the end of that :D

Had a rubbish day yesterday, bouncing from hypo to hyper, so hopefully today will be smoother. I think the rapidly cooling weather is affecting me, and making me need less insulin, so will be keeping a close eye on things.

And now it’s time to put another pot of coffee on the stove, and wake my husband and son with the trombone alarm clock...
 
@Mel dCP A nosy adoption question (I'm adopted too) do you know what you were fed on for the first 6 months? I ask as my parents who brought me up were given me, a gown and a tin of Carnation condensed milk with instructions to feed me on it, and I was fed solely with the condensed milk until eating solids, and it really makes me wonder as I've 3 half brothers who are non d and there's no diabetes on my natural side.

Had to take some extra novorapid before bed as wifey had made potato pie which was so nice I had 2 meals worth!
Work colleagues think I don't eat much as during the day I just eat a bit when I need to but by the time evening meal time arrives I'm ready to eat a cow between 2 bread vans.........

I’ve just messaged my bio-mum to ask her, so bear with me. I was given to my new parents at two months old, and fed on SMA Gold - I’ve still got a few tins with tiny bits of Lego in them! One of my bio-aunts has T1, and is very poorly with it just now - but she was one of ten, so I don’t think it’s significant. No idea what’s in my paternal line, so we just blame any genetic issues on him :D

Edit - mum just replied that I was just given whatever formula they issued in the hospital. Bottles arrived ready made up, so she has no idea. I certainly never got any boob juice.

Seems you can set custom alarms on xDrip and select different tunes, but I found out that it does not support MP3 files which in some respect is good because the TV theme tune Stingray going off at 4 in the morning might not be such a good idea :hilarious:

I'd been thinking about emailing Halle Berry to ask her to do a voice-over for my alert: "Scott, darling, wake up, I'm going to have to feed you some sugar", but then I realised it was just too pervy and I'd probably end up on her stalker alert list...

The xdrip default alarm is a nightmare! Sounds like a screech owl trying to escape from a dustbin, or Eastern Europe Eurovision song contest entries.

I've tried just about every ring tone on my phone - rivers, cellos, waves, bells, - but none of them really sound good at 4am.

Might have a go with Ride of the Valkyries - if I'm getting woken up, might as well wake the neighbours up too:

You could record it yourself, raise the pitch, and pretend...............

In Spike you have a huge range of sounds - I just have Siri shouting “high glucose!” “URGENT HIGH GLUCOSE!!!” And the same for lows. And whether it’s rising or falling fast. It’s very handy to have a voice telling you exactly what the alarm is for, I’ve found...
 
I'm going to hunt round for some alarm noises the default ones are not great and the option for East European Eurovision has a certain kind of appeal, excluding the xDrip default that sounds like the dead waking up :rolleyes:

I fancy a Father Jack alarm when things are heading north "****, drink" or something like that :hilarious:

Just struggling with the Bolus Caculator and there does not seem much online about it :bookworm:

@Scott-C i think the Easter Egg in the xDrip software is an urban myth but I'm still searching :wideyed:
 
Well after 2 very good days between about 2pm and bedtime, my little friend Dawn came to visit for the past 2 nights. Yes Dawn Phenomenen came to see me the past few nights. Going to bed with a lovely 6.2 and 5.9 and waking up at about 4 am with a 12.7 and a 11.2. I had this a few weeks ago as well for about a week, every night good BG going to bed, I generally dont eat anything after 7pm and up pops Dawn.

No offence Dawn but can you go away and not come back:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Whoah, Mel, Siri might be telling you about your bg levels, but the commie ***** is also collecting and sending information to Apple and the Chinese about, erm, how many times you've asked her to automatically open and close your curtains, or adjust the central heating. That sort of stuff will lose us the the next world war!!

If you're talking about the predictive simulations, yeah, it takes a bit of time using it to figure it out, but it's worth it in the end.

It's not one of these simple bg meter things where you type in a number and it gives you a number back which you can trust - it needs a bit of playing with.
 
Good morning all. Dull and cool here. After two weeks of being here there and everywhere and having visitors, I am today calm and relaxed and determined to do very little. So why has the DP kicked in again for the first time in ages. Is it because the mornings are darker? Who knows!
In other news, the Libre I put on over the Cavilon 10 days ago is still on with just a little bit of itching at the start. Although it’s inability to remain stuck, meant it needed Opsite on it for help. I am quietly hopeful and the results of this one have been bang on. Fingers crossed for the next one.
 
Good morning all. Just took me half hour catching up on all the stories here. Well I am in Northampton at the moment at the Bank Holiday Bashfest with 3 of my mates. Camping! It's bleeding freezing. Bloods have been all over the place for the 2 days we have been here....too much lager. I think we are packing up today as the rain is supposed to be coming in heavy later. BHBF is centred around radio controlled cars! BIG ones lol. I know I am a saddo

Yes the "predictive simulations" do need to play with it more but it appeared to work last night.

However do you find that you have to 'recalibrate' xDrip?

My high warning went off, which got me head scratching, which ended up with checking bloods and resetting xDrip, now OK again.

You talking 1/5 scale cars?

Few years ago I used to race 1/10 scale saloons and buggies, still have all the gear sadly gathering dust as there is no club near by.

Yeah 1/5. They spend sooooo much money on them. I have taken over 600 photos. Lots of editing when I get home. Probably not get a 100 decent ones lol
