Type 2 Life

Bbbrrrrrrrr it's a cold one today. Hope everyone is well this morning ☺. I'm off for my nurses appointment soon, see what she makes of my testing results from the past 10 days. Think I will go for a walk afterwards then home to finish off my cleaning. Loving being off for the school holidays but cannot wait to go back next week and get back into routine. Love my job. Have a good day everyone. Xx

@kjc2011 - Morning, Let us all know how you get on at Nurses appointment? Just relax - chill out you'll be fine:)

Thank you the most routine of appointments and I get a little stressed lol stems from everything I went through with hospitals when I was a child kind of put a little fear of doctors nurses etc...... kind of work myself up slightly and no need too. Have a good day x

@mo53 - Morning Mo. Swimming today is it? Came across another game yesterday, called A to Z in words. You make a word from the last letter of the previous word put. Broadband hub was flashing 30 minutes ago and now back on, but it could go at any moment. Enjoy your day.:)

@paula.nolan42 - Morning Sweet Pea. Your burgers sounded nice you made, did you freeze the other 4?
When I have a Cheeseburger I only eat the bottom half of the bread bun. Have a good day.:)

6.9 today, tho never got up till 9am. Always got up about 6am till year ago now I seem to go to bed most nights /mornings at about 1pm or later, my sugars are always in the late 6's or 7's. I want them lower. Any advice how to do this? Maybe I get liver dump I don't know. I wake up st 6 but I go back to sleep. Past 12months been hard adjusting to living alone, worries ect. I'm not so active as o was either , Get so stressed, any diet advice maybe ? I don't drink, gave up long ago. Thanks good day to you all

@maureen5752 - Morning. Stress pushes up blood sugars for starters. You and I had the same reading of 6.9 this morning. But, I never had my crackers & cheese at 11.30pm - when I do have supper I get a much lower reading in the morning.:)

Good Morning, I have seen some concerns regarding high waking blood sugar readings and whether some post 'bad' results so I have posted my figures since I started testing. While mine range between 5.5 and 7.7 there is no pattern apart from less infrequent +7s in the last month.
Here is the thread I have posted to - Dawn Phenomenon - good or bad?

PS) I am not obsessive just meticulous ;)

I can honestly say that I try hard to reduce my carb intake. I compensate with high protein, eggs, fish, fat, fruit (apples and bananas mainly) and veg. Even the rye bread has gone. It's very nearly eating to live, rather than enjoying what I eat. However, if that's what it needs to be, so be it.
Hi David_A_Hughes, We have all been in the same boat as you, I know I have many times. Quote > It's very nearly eating to live, rather than enjoying what I eat. < However, if that's what it needs to be, so be it.[/QUOTE]. I used to be like this it really got me down, also I am 65yrs and it is hard at first, but now through this site and seeing what others eat and trying new things for myself and always testing after I now love my food. Please go on the forum " What Have You Eaten Today " it is a really good forum as you can see what some of us put on there for meals in a day.

Please try and test for yourself, I am one of those who can eat certain fruits, some can not eat any. Bananas I may have half once a week pears I have 1 nearly every day, plums I have about 3-4 times a week, I have raspberries every day in yogurt, have a good cooked breakfast as well. You will be surprised how your BG readings will come down as you test your foods. I started at 19.3 in jan this year now in the 5s. Good luck.:)

My Fasting Blood Glucose Reading was 9.9 Millimoles Per Litre this morning at 7:05 am. I think that the main precipitating factor for this is because I very foolishly consumed a very substantial lamb doner kebab and the pitta bread was high in complex carbohydrates. And I'd already perfected my glycaemia to 6.3 Millimoles Per Litre just before consuming the kebab meal. This is a perfect example how I'm struggling insurmountably with my type II diabetes mellitus although in past days I've achieved optimum fasting blood glucose readings.
Hi @johnnybaker45 I hope you don't mind me copying this message to type 2 life thread. I wouldnt like to upset anyone when I reply to u.
Yes. It looks like it is exactly that. You like me and I guess other insulin resistant suffers keep getting the carb/sugar addition which hold our progress back. I've found with myself that my body send out messages for more sugary foods when my good sugar level isn't consistant. This is the golden chalice of insulin resistance. Steady good bgs which keep the carb/sugar cravings away.
Myself I find it in lchf with no extremely low carb level allowed per day. Steady medication if prescribed too. The meds can be reduced once long term excellent steady levels. Or reoccuring hypos on hypo sensitive meds.
I've been through it all and the common feature to my diabetes is this carb cravings and inconsistant sugar levels with increased meds.
This is changing for me. In fact I'm turning a little to relaxed about how my insulin resistance works. ( i.e I have a treat and know I can rebound back to good control and carry on.)
Life would be miserable for me if everyone non-diabetic are constantly able to eat what they like.
I hit the protein and veg to attack my sugar/carb cravings which are very few and far between now.
I hope you can find your good control too @johnnybaker45 . It is great and feels very achievable once done once. Have a go?

Hi all, 5.8. Saturday morning. 5.4. Saturday after dinner.
Sunday morning. 5. last night Sunday after dinner. 5.2.
5.4. this Monday morning. Very happy with these readings saying I am still in pain with this frozen shoulder and had no sleep all week.

Just reviewing things from over the weekend and I think it was pretty much a success. I wasn't monitoring blood sugar levels as closely as I have been and I had a few drinks for the first time in quite a well plus the edibles weren't as healthy as they could have been (steak and chips on the Friday night ... sausage, bacon, mushrooms and beans plus toast and marmalade for breakfast on Saturday ... sausage sandwich at the football on Saturday afternoon ... and chicken malaya and a naan bread on Saturday evening ... and then toast and marmalade again on Sunday morning).

Had a reading in the 10s on Saturday but that was because I forgot to inject after the sausage sandwich otherwise the highest was 8.0 before breakfast on Sunday.

Weight on Friday morning was 17 stone 11 and I was expecting that I might have nudged that back up but I was pleasantly surprised to see the scales reading 17 stone 10 this morning.

Now, I'm not going to be having weekends like this very often - in fact that next time will probably be when the same group of friends get together around this time next year - but it does seem that the work I've been putting in on losing weight and controlling my levels is heading in the right direction.

Got a day's leave from work today but am now clambering back on the wagon. Pre-breakfast reading was 7.6 and two hours after I'm slightly high at 8.6 but just about to head out for a walk.

Hope everybody has as good a day as they possibly can.
@david1968 definitely a success.
You might find a rogue high bg from time to time. Which I just call a carb build up after a treat. Lchf or contant lower carbs iron those out over time.
:) a great example of enjoying your life with type2 diabetes. Well done. I hope you don't mind if I can refer to your experience from time to time for newies?

I will try cheese & crackers tonight see if that helps, any particular cheese/ crackers you recommend Thanks, as I've been much less mobile since December weight is gaining which I don't want have good day

For me cntrolling my diabetes is highly reliant on the nhs to turn my high blood sugars around and of course these forums.
We are all learning something new - quite often. I'm happy to trawl threads and sneek tit bits back for us all. Debate with me and tell me if you think I'm wrong so we can get to the nitty gritty of our type2. Please. I will never know everything or pretend to do either. Please please jump in - always. :)

@maureen5752 - I just have 3 crackerwheats, buttered with thick slices of cheese (Red Leicester is what I buy as it's my favourite) Just take yourself out for a walk weather permitting of course. Do you follow the LCHF Diet like a lot of other forum members? It is very good for weight loss and lowering HBA1C and blood sugars.:)

@ickihun - Vicky, I agree with you bringing snippets of information to this thread it's good to have a debate. I have always said that in all the years (nearly 16 this month) I have had Diabetes I am still learning, especially since I joined this forum 2 years ago. I feel we need to involve more members and newbies onto the thread.
What do others have to say on this?:)

Hi liam 1955, since you posted before about having a supper and finding your morning BG readings lower, so for the last 3 days have been having supper of yogurt / either Alpro plain or coconut or Greek Turkish yogurt [ from lidl] with raspberries and the linseed and gogi berry mixes from Aldi/ sometimes sprinkle some blended mixed nuts on as well. My morning readings are always in the 6s but in the last 3 days are 5.8. 5. and this morning 5.4.

@amgrundy - Brilliant = And here is the proof that it works. And if that works for continue with it. Pre-bedtime snacks should always contain Protein such as: Cheese, or Meats, or handful of Nuts, or spoonful of Peanut Butter. NOT CARBS - milk, fruit, or juice.:)

Past few months I've turned more to the LCHF and less carbs, bought some lovely cheese Friday in fact, I was always active but truthfully these ops have taken my confidence away I'm always dropping my tea and stuff, many people have remarked on change in me which doesn't help, may 9th I go for post op then hopefully glasses, become bit of recluse I suppose, got to get back to normal, sorry for moaning, I will try the cheese & crackers tonight thanks
