Type 2 Life

Hi, everyone on Type 2 Life,

I've just eaten a sandwich made from 2 slices of bread and 2 fried Sainsbury's Basics fresh pork sausages, each 1 halved now at 8:47 Ante Meridian followed by a mug of coffee made with 1 teaspoon of Sainsbury's Rich Roast Coffee Granules with 3 Splenda Artificial Sweeteners.

I'm going to wait no less than 2 hours (it'll be 10:47 Ante Meridian) before I monitor my blood sugar to allow the food to pass through my digestive system.

Much love to you all.

Johnny Baker (@autisticwonder1970)

Their loss hun. Keep at it. Maybe a job better than that one ment for you. Autistic society not in need of your great experience? Brother-in-law worked for them and looked after service users. A chemist in need of a savy shop assistant. Try boots?
Wow them with your heavily experience on your c.v dropped at doctors surgery or health centres? I'd employ you. ♡♥♡
Aww thanks Vicky, but I really need a desk based job. Admin is my first love (I love organising things!) and I have a bad back so I can't stand up for hours on end. I'll still keep on trying anyway, as you know I can be pretty stubborn and one little setback like this isn't going to bring me down. I also don't think my jobseeker's advisor would be too impressed if I stopped applying for jobs just like that!

@eldergarth - Ron, get a piece of paper and write in red ink: Test my Bloods - FIRST, and put it somewhere prominent before you go to bed, so you will see it first thing after getting up each morning. William :)

Interesting...
It's funny you should mention gout, as my husband (who has long been prone to gout and arthritis, but is not diabetic) has suffered more episodes of gout since I have been cooking LCHF meals (with added carbs for him). And in addition to increased arthritis pain I have been getting terrible cramps in my feet and legs at night...
It's a minefield this, isn't it? I'm just beginning to realise how complex and finely-balanced human nutrition really is!
It seems that fine-tuning may be the answer. Drastic changes appear more likely to generate problems.

I hope you don't mind e commenting on your post but I read it with interest as I have been suffering with terrible cramp at night in my legs for the fast few months being woken up every night with cramp . I also follow LCHF diet quite strictly and have good results my doctor recently told me don't need medication anymore and can control by diet only . It's interesting that I'm not the only one suffering I really would never have thought it was down to my "healthy" diet.

Hi, my special friends on Type II Life Forum,

It's now 1:36 Post Meridian on Sunday 16th October in the year 2016 Anno Domini, or nowadays known as Common Era.

My Blood Glucose Reading at this time was 5.4 Millimoles Per Litre after enjoying a pleasant breakfast at 8:47 Ante Meridian of a Sausage Sandwich and a mug of coffee with "Splenda" Artificial Sweetener Tablets.

Hi, @connie104!
Well, I'm no expert, and I can't claim that following the LCHF diet is causing my leg cramps, because it's something I have always been prone to at times. But they certainly have become worse since I've been doing LCHF, for whatever reason. I've tried increasing my fluids, exercising and stretching my leg muscles before bed, drinking chicken broth (for the salts), and taking a magnesium/potassium supplement, all with varying degrees of success.
After being very strict low carb for the first 3 months (30g per day or less), I moved to around 50g per day for the next 3 months, and I'm now averaging between 50-100g per day. All I can say is that - whether it's a coincidence or not - the cramps are fewer and less painful nearer 100g than they are at 50g.

Thanks for your reply and I will try i reading my carbs a little maybe by eating a banana every other day or so . Will also try a supplement containing magnesium/potassium to see if it helps . I have only had cramp very rarely in the past so getting it every night now is really annoying! I'll let you know if any of my remedies work .

Hi, my lovely friends,

I had 2 of these items of food between 3:00-3:30 Post Meridian so in 2 hours time, I'm going to test my blood sugar, maybe 6:00 Post Meridian when I take my teatime 200 mg Carbamazepine for my autistic-style meltdowns.

Hello, my good, supportive friends,

It's evening time on Sunday 16th October, 2016. At 6:15 PM my blood glucose reading was 12.0 mmol, which was concerning for me. It's probably from those 2 massive sausage sandwiches I had of the image I uploaded above on Type 2 Life. All those devil carbs and there's cereal composites in the sausages, too, so I fared really badly. I've got to try really hard and adhere to the LCHF programme asap or else my diabetes is never going to improve. And eating all that high-glucose marmalade, lemon curd and strawberry jam can't be very diabetes-friendly, either. Maybe Sainsbury's do a diabetic jam, with no sugar. It might cost a lot more but it's worth it if I can enjoy my jam sandwich or marmalade on toast - bread used sparingly - and not exacerbate my glycaemic readings. I think I should strongly eliminate Cornflakes from my diet and buy soya milk to avoid the lactose which is a form of glucose found in dairy produce. I think the www.healthunlocked.com website has suggested I incorporate berries, lean meat - in moderation - fish, nuts - sparingly(!) - and they supported the low carb high fat diet was the connotation there.

At 7:46 PM this evening my blood glucose level was a normal, healthy 6.6 mmol! Oh what joy!

Have a lovely evening, my friends. It's absolutely divine having my wifi back at home. I've registered with www.disney.co.uk and watched my favourite song being performed called Let It Go from Disney's Frozen. I love that film! And I love The Lion King, Tangled, Elena of Avalor and The Descendants a spin-off of Maleficent by Disney.

Love from Johnny Baker (@autisticwonder1970 ), sufferer of Asperger Syndrome, Bipolar Affective Disorder and Insulin-Resistant Type II Diabetes Mellitus.

Or @eldergarth put a kit next to your bed. On rising, TEST. Youll find alot lower on most occasions. Then post here with your breakfast. And knock us dead! :)

Cramps are very common with loss of nutrients (Including potassium) when either dehydrated or after exercise. Cramps are most common due to lack of water mainly then potassium. I hope this helps.
Lack of potassium is featured in other threads, in more depth. Do a search on these forums about potassium. Enjoy the read.

I totally agree. Cream, cheese and rich foods can trigger gout. I always knew acid triggered gout but never knew it was a form of arthritis. I'm enjoying the knowledge I'm picking up from blundering my way through lchf. Although if I knew now what I know now I'd never had started it. My blood test were good and I'm still on insulin and still no weight loss. I'm used to it's way now. A few posters moved to better oils after doing lchf a while, I noticed.
Too much animal fat isn't good and shouldnt be included in the diet. Maybe this part of lchf advice should be amended.
Does mr @debrasue eat too much cheese and animal fats?
Decades ago a friend had gout. I thought from cream, cheese and red wine. Not sure if that is still accurate. It was classed as the rich man's disease.
