Hi Liam, still a bit rough, yes played tennis thankfully just the one set, luckily the guy I played could only manage an hour today I lost 6-4 which given the condition I'm in was no disgrace, after the first long rally I had nothing left in the tank managed to save six match points at 5-2 served 3 aces, I missed a sitter to make it 5-5 so I'm happy in defeat. BGL was 9.9 post tennis.

We then had to take 2 of our cats to the vets for their six monthly check, all was well with them, I've spent most of the day in bed, overall not a bad day.:)

Were you misdiagnosed as Type 1 initially then?

Ketones are nasty - I'm glad your levels came down :)

Some people are misdiagnosed.There are blood tests that can indicate what type you are, but they're not always done.
 
Have survived a week back at work, including extra food this afternoon, (some of the students preparing and serving healthy snacks for an assessment and those in the group not doing that unit being the ones to test the food they had prepared). Luckily, several of the students were happy to help me out by eating the fruit on the fruit kebabs which I said spiked my BS levels! I had budgeted for this, though, and by the time I'd walked home I was exactly where I expect to be before my evening meal.

thats why was admitted to A&E was told that my keytones were at dangerous levels and placed on insulin drips for 4hrs before i was allowed home again my hba1c was 138 with BG at 38
 
No wonder Tina worries about you @eldergarth you really have had it rough. Glad you are getting on much better now! That's a lovely wedding photo of the two of you that @tina_marie is using for her avatar. Beautiful bride and handsome groom:playful:

what do you expect when two blokes are banging on your door telling me my husband is going to die if I don't let them in to speak to you.

i will admit anne it has been a big shock to the system but how i see things is s*** happens but you just have to get on with it and no point worrying about it

I weigh myself ever other Monday morning, after a toilet, it is the second thing I do. When I was losing weight at about 1kg every fortnight the trend was clear, nice curve all the way down to 71kg. Now it bobbles around between 70 and 72 kg

You've not changed anything fundamental in what you eat/exercise, I would suggest looking at the trend rather than this week against last week.

There is a thread on weigh ins... and some one was weighing themselves three times a day... and that just did my head in.

Thanks for responding @hankjam. I weigh myself every Friday morning and go by that weight as I know it fluctuates during the week. My DSN tells me I have lost 10 kilos since diagnosis in January, I have no idea what that means in old money but I think about 1 stone 7lbs by my reckoning? My BMI was 25.1 when I saw her last week.

I think the lchf way of eating is great, but I might need to hold back on the hf bit of it!
 
hi @TooManyCrisps i have now started alternating the ratio of the fat and protein in my LCHF one week i increase the fat level and reduce the protein then reverse the following week .
been trying this as my levels started to yoyo again and touch wood it seems to be working
 
My experience of the local course was not good.. it took eight months to get on one, as they kept trying to put me on day time ones, despite my patient requests for a Saturday.

By the time I finally got one I'd got myself well in hand, had got my Hba1c from 140 to 57 within three months, my weight down a good 40lbs since diagnosis, and had had a significant amount of training at work as I deal with students with T1 diabetes. Whilst that training was aimed at what I did with others, it was really useful personally as well.

I knew during the introductory 10 minutes it was likely to be a waste of time. When they were insisting I needed to fill in an incredibly intrusive form and be weighed, have BMI calculated and have blood pressure checked "For our records", I refused to co-operate and walked out. There was an attempt to get me to stay, but ultimately the trainer had to admit from what I reeled off to him about what I'd already learnt, I wasn't going to learn anything that day.

"But, you could be such an encouragement to others." was the last attempt to get me to stay. I'm afraid, I glared, pointed out if I'd given up my one free day a week, I was giving it up for my benefit, not other peoples, and stated I would take the consequences for not attending.

I was more proud of myself for not hitting the chocolate to cheer myself up!

So, um, I've not actually done one really.
