Type 2 Life

@liam1955 happy birthday William hope it's a great one & many more healthy ones to follow. I'm still having trouble keep login in. I'm very stressed & shaky today my daughters picking me up for a surprise, I don't like surprises, don't know where going, what to wear, how long gonna be out, taking emergency food but still not knowing stresses me out, hate crowded places so hope it's not crowded, she told me weeks ago to be ready on 28th!!! She's asked for some new pots & pans ect which I bought for her while back, but said no not got new place, so I'm confused, can't relax. Have good day everyone, talk later if I haven't gone hypo with stress!!!!
Don't worry, Maureen - I'm sure your daughter knows the things you like and don't like, and the things you can cope with, and she won't have arranged anything you won't like. I hope you have a lovely day. Hugs x

Hi there. I'm new to this but wanted to say hi and maybe chat . My bloods are being taken next week so I'm now glad I've done something about all this diabetes business. Cheers Paul

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum.

Hi, Paul - welcome to the forum!
Why don't you tell us a little about yourself? What prompted you to get your blood glucose levels investigated? How did you come upon this forum. I see you classify yourself as pre-diabetic - where/how did that diagnosis originate? What are your feelings on diabetes generally?
Hugs x

Hi gang just to let you know Ron has been referred to the neurology clinic at the hospital as from the X ray he has arthritis and it may have started to spread to his back/ spine. The doctor has given him some different pain killers. Today we are both at the boat club where Ron seems to be more relaxed and enjoying himself . Feeling much more positive now we know what's going on.

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all doing as well as can be or getting better if not.

I'm going to cheat tonight and have a Chinese meal, the 1st this year. Of course if I couldn't have 1 nobody else could either, so it's a treat all round. I may check to see what damage it does to my readings or I might just have the night off.

Haven't caught up on all the posts so, covering everyone hopefully:

Well done
Great results
That's good news
I'm sorry to hear that
Hope you're feeling better soon
Glad to know you're feeling better
Keep up the good work
Don't be so hard on yourself
Just ignore them
Welcome
Happy Birthday, William & anyone else who has had 1 recently :)

Apologies if I've missed anything, seeing the length of that list, it would have been quicker to read the posts, lol.

Enjoy the weekend & take care. Karen xx

At last, Yippee @eldergarth and @tina_marie you've got a diagnosis - (that's what I have Arthritis of the Spine and 2 Herniated Lumbar Disc's) so now a treatment plan can be put in place and commence - Good Luck.:)

Afternoon Paul and welcome. Sounds like you're ahead of the game. Well done!

Let us know how the blood tests go, once you get the results.

What ever you do....ring up and ask for specific details...if need be we can then point you in the right direction....but sounds like you have it covered. :)

Takes the stress away to have a diagnosis. Take away the stress and some of the pain can lift too . Having the diagnosis the doc would be able to prescribe the most effective type of painkillers too...
Enjoy your weekend

Happy happy birthday @liam1955 !
I hope one of your dreams come true today. Have a wonderful birthday weekend. Never mind one day. The older you get the longer you need to do everything else so celebrating should take longer too. Well that's my theory, and I'm sticking to it. Ha ha

You did make me laugh
I'd say test after your treat because if the results are better than you think then you may be able to allow yourself a treat a little more often

@ickihun - Vicky you are a Star! Thanks for the Birthday Wishes, I have to get back on track after the Bank Holiday. Have had the Bl**dy 'burning' AGAIN, took sample to Surgery last Thursday for it to be sent to Hospital. The Dapagliflozin was stopped on the 5th May (just a little over 3 weeks ago) and the Diabetologist said I do not take it anymore, but, I reckon my HBA1C will slowly go back up and I will put on weight. I was told by Diabetologist to increase my Insulin but I am sticking at the 44 units I am on and 2000mg of Metformin I am taking. What do you say? :)William x

Happy birthday from us both.

Good evening my friends,

I did something very silly at 2:15 this afternoon and at 4:55 the same time I got a shock. At the first time I like a sillybilly ate 3 whole chip butties with 6 slices of bread and a stack of oven chips and the reading at 4:55 pm was 18.1.

William have you added any weight since the 5th may? I've lost for 4 weeks now. That tablet has caused alarm in nhs and they've issued a health warning from my gp and diabetes unit texted an open appointment in an emergency. It's causing Ketoacidosis. I too had excellent bgs on it but nasty thrush. I did suffer backache but more from added weight on that tablet on it's use the second time. Since stopping it ive lost nearly 6kgs. I have taken extra insulin with a suppliment called R-ala which looks after insulin health. I had to double my insulin but can now reduce it due to R-ala tablet i buy from Amazon.
Might work for you too? I know you dont need to lose weight but are concerned about adding. Is extra insulin making you eat more?
Ive made a conscious effort to reduce my protein which I was using to replace carbs. I was eating huge portions of protein. I've upped my veg and ive been advised to increase my fats but a bit reluctant as same poster advised reduce dairy fat. Only fat i like at mo. We'll see thou. Dietary fat isn't suppose to give you visceral fat. I believe any food not used up turns into fat. Regardless of its elements.I've reduced cheese too.
I believe diet is the key to type 2 diabetes. Although like everyone's body is different so is their dietary requirements to lose or maintain. Lchf diet has opened my eyes to carb intolerance. I was blind to their reaction to my system. Testing is the key, isnt it.
Have you added any weight or see any change in your tummy tissue?
Is your new pain relief meds prone to thrush @liam1955 ?
Are you getting thrush on 7.8bgs and higher or all the time?

Ps @liam1955 burning is normally a water infection rather than thrush. Also dull ache in low tummy area but since you have a sample in you'll soon know. ;) Drink plenty of water to flushed it out William. I hope it resolves quickly for you. :)
