Type 2 Life

@Jordi77 - @ickihun Vicky, I used Victoza for 6 months and the only thing I got was nausea. So, got took of that and put on Liratgultide for 6 months and that did nothing apart from nausea. Well Done on your weight loss of 8 stone, so what do you weigh now for your height of? :)

I weigh 76 7 kg with a body mass of 21.93kg/m2 and that is for a height of 6 ft 3 wish my BP would go up though

@Jordi77 - That is my Biggest FEAR, having a Hypo in a Public Place! I have only had 3 hypos in 2 years (since using Insulin) but, luckily each one has been at home. So I always carry Glucose Tablets and 2 Yoghurt coated Museli bars when out. Physio did nothing for me, whereas Acupuncture did help for a short time to ease the Pain. So, you will be well educated on Diabetes after 22 years then? :)
Maybe a chiropractor would be more apporopriate as they deal with bone alignments rather than just the muscles....Physio was useless for me because they thought my right hip was seized (couldn't hip hitch) but the problem was with my left hip being so deteriorated I was standing too low on the right to hitch the left hip up....

@maureen5752 - Hi :) Just read your post from earlier about hypos. Think you could benefit from discussing your meds with the Diabetic Nurse. You don't have to wait out 6 months or 3 months before your next review, if you need to see her sooner - make an appointment. William x

@Sable_Jan - Did you find out what had made your hip deteriorate? Did you have some form of Arthritis? :)
yes, it was arthritis. Osteoarthritis rather than rhuematoid....the latter can be treated with some extent with medication but not osteo.....apparently the trigger for both that and my fibromyalgia was put down to an infection I'd had (a chest infection)

@magsiesss - Hello :) - please do join in the topic of conversation. What is your views?

I have a Gluco Nexus RX and it was provided by the GP because if my readings went to 25 over the weekend I was diagnosed, I was to report to A&E who he had alerted I might present as an emergency (I didn't).

I have used the meter and get test strips at the moment on prescription - but without those strips and testing myself regularly I do not think my levels would be as low as they are now. If the GP takes me off Glic and the strips next week, I will buy my own strips. I will be on the lookout for the cheapest strips.

Knowledge is power and I want to have that control over my own body - everyone with diabetes should test. My other half doesn't though and he is also Type 2.

@magsiesss - If that should happen? with the meter, then do let us know on the Forum as some forum members have links for sites about meters. Do you and your Partner both follow the LCHF Diet which is popular with a lot of people on here.
How are your readings? And how is your partners readings?
Don't be afraid to ask questions if your unsure about anything, we are all friendly and help each other. Have you had a good read on the threads? :)

@debrasue hope you feel better soon, keep warm & drink plenty fluids (hug). There was me gonna ask if you want to put your boots on & go for a booze up! Haven't had a drink since Xmas then only one, gave it all away! Take care hope you feel better soon x

. Lucky you William I've had dozens of hypos outside, had one yesterday, was shaking stuttering, so embarrassing, shoving jelly babies in my mouth just as I was about to pay!!! Think I should see doctor, my diabetes isn't under control, getting really down past few months, became bit reclusive for few months, living alone is new to me, & a no go, to quiet. 7.2 this morning, been going up recently. Have good day everyone

If I were you, I would certainly go to your GP and have a chat about the hypos. I was reading the Glic info sheet this morning and it does state that if you have too many hypos, go to your GP as he might have to check your medication.

@maureen5752 - I know what you mean about Doctors and getting an appointment, I do mine on-line and I have got one for the 20th June and I booked that 3 -4 days ago. A small Kit Kat - good for you and did it taste lovely? As you probably know Stress causes blood sugars to rise, so you need to find something to de-stress yourself. William x

@Sable_Jan - My poor Mother had Osteoarthritis of the Spine and Hips and she suffered with pain I had to fight to stop the tears from flowing seeing her suffer and with her having Alzheimer's she didn't understand why. I have heard of this Fibromyalgia - how is that diagnosed? :)

I have seen my DN once, but my GP several times - which is good for me. My readings are averaging about 6 at the moment which is not too bad.

My partner's levels should be reducing soon - in January he was 59 - so his doc, is not too concerned, the GP was more concerned about his iron levels (for which he is on 3x tabs a day). He does not test although I have bought him a machine and strips (although he is also on Glic, he did not get a meter or strips). He unfortunately has only tested twice and I think he is still in denial (more than 2 years on).

Because I am walking every night, so is he - because I am eating less carbs, so is he. He doesn't quite "get" the LCHF idea yet and mealtimes are sometimes odd as he does not believe he can exist without lots of carbs. Trying to change his mindset will be a very slow process. I have my work cut out with him! I have joined the gym and will get a programme sorted on Monday which I am looking forward to.

I have no idea what my GP will suggest when I see him next Wednesday - but it all depends on the level of thryroid issue I have.

Probably all just tmi ... sorry

Thanks will do, hope your well

I think some gps are like that. Mine isn't. He likes me independant and making a difference. Dn knows how independant I am but she is there if I need her.
I only bother hospital if I'm in danger. They have sooo many patients who know nothing. I gleem her advice and knowledge of her years and years of seeing others improve or get worse. Test strips carnt do that. Like these forums are more valuable than test strips but without my test strips I'd be relying on my feelings and size of my pupil. Yes. My pupil being enlarged is a sign of high sugar. Small pupil is low sugar. For me.
Now that only works on the principle of what your body feels is a high sugar and your not looking at your pupil in bright light or dark room. (Normal/ average daylight or artifical light.
Have a look for yourself. ;)
There are people all over the country now, Vicky, scrutinising their pupils!!! LOL
(Mine are normal-sized) :joyful:

Pretty much by exclusion as symptoms can vary so wildly between people and between hours of the day. Generally mild to severe fatigue which can come on like the flip of a switch, memory problems (which can vary wildly too) the most consistent diagnostic tool is really painful pressure points on the body. Press on a "normal" person others little or no reaction but with us it causes severe pain. There's lots of other things including peeing for England which is such a pain. www.fmauk.org hope this work. Never done it using app before
