Type 2 Life

Good Afternoon, my lovely friends on the www.diabetes.co.uk Type 2 Life Forum,

I am posting to inform all of the lovely people who have supported me so kindly in my management of Type II Diabetes Mellitus. I'm back at the Tate South Lambeth Public Library very close to my flat as my Sky Broadband is still not operational.

I have to be honest with you, I'm not being a good steward of the LCHF diet and my spinal osteoarthritis makes my mobility very difficult. My Carer is going to get me a walking stick for this. I am barely functional at home, but I can use a microwave oven proficiently and have been warming deep-pan pizzas that my Carer bought me out of my Personal Allowance from my Corporate Appointee yesterday. I do still enjoy watching my C-Beebies due to the developmental delay in my Asperger Syndrome neurological disability, however, and my friend Lee has been great and has excelled himself in supporting me. My blood sugar at 11:50 Ante Meridian, today, was 7.7 Millimoles Per Litre.

Have a lovely day and weekend.

Yours faithfully

John Baker

Done by syringe ouch! I think nurse was trying to catch my blood out. ha ha
What's the difference between that and the normal needle thingy they put in? I'm trying to picture it but my brain only sees them unscrewing tubes and screwing more on .. somehow... Picture is a little unclear

Those vials which they attach to the needle is aided by suction, which can collapse your vein.
I had hormones and full diabetic blood test with my thyroid levels checked too. Half a syringe needed.

Ouch! Hope your arm isn't too bruised

Good Morning, my lovely friends on the www.diabetes.co.uk Type 2 Life Forum,

I am at Tate South Lambeth Public Library now. I read absolutely adorable comments from Ikihun, Debra Sue, Sable Jan and Diamum. I am going to go back to artificial sweeteners and when I make my Shopping List on Tuesday for Thursday exclude granulated sugar. My ADHD is the cause of this although I do realize I need to step out of the diagnosis and take proactive responsibility in accordance to the good, upright way I was raised by my Mum and Dad in Finchley, North London in the 1970's.

I had another slip by eating a Full English fried breakfast with carbs in the hash brown, chips and toasted white bread, but I realize to get my blood sugars back to the 4's, 5's and 6's I have to make some changes. I know I can do it and believe in myself implicitly as you lovely people all do. My friend Lee treated me to the brekky. Maybe bacon, egg, tomatoes cooked at home would have been better minus the Devil Carbs.

I feel well today and feel the ADHD is being much kinder to me.

Have a lovely day and splendid weekend. The Library isn't open tomorrow so I'll next be online on Monday 20th June, 2016 at 1:00 Post Meridian.

Yours faithfully,

Good morning Johnny, the breakfast sounded delicious. If your friend, very nice friend, treats you to breakfast again ask if you can have it served without the chips and toast and maybe could you have an extra egg and piece of bacon instead. ... If it's a serve yourself type breakfast think of us when you are reaching for those chips ...
Glad you are feeling well, have a lovely day

Just woke from my first lie in in weeks. The sun is shining. Haven't tested fbg yet but will. Soooo looking forward to the kids 6 weeks holiday. In the past I was totally skint working full-time and paying for full childcare. I was working to pay for childcare and then petrol was on top so I was out of pocket by working. I was paying out more money than my income in Augusts.
I should have opened a nursery. That's where the money is now. Even old people nursing homes would give the childcare industry a run for their money.
My poor nana was paying with her 2 private pensions and state pension to just be kept alive. Not even safe in the end, she fell 4 times before her demise, in a very short space of time. If we'd move her into another home it would have killed her.

My youngest said that about childcare. She took far longer to return to work after her second child cos she too would've been out of pocket even having a partner 2nd time around.

I don't know if I like Saturday mornings much - had a late breakfast (porridge) and at around 1pm - felt weird.

Tested bloods and was 3.2

I will be happy when I am low enough to come off the Glic ....

Weird, that's so low after porridge..but guess it depends what milk you used and what activity and how long it actually was after brekky that you tested. Had a pasta bake for dinner (usually ok) but stuffed myself with a pkt M&Ms after.. Was full cos gave some of my dinner to Rocks then stupidly got one of my treat packs out....instead of waiting on 2 hr test results.

I guess it could be my thyroid meds kicking in .... I had breakfast at 10 am ... and 3 hrs after I started feeling weird.

I cannot find a lot of info about how the thyroid meds work with the diabetic meds.

Which thyroid med are you on @magsiesss ?
I'm on 200mg thyroxine which doesn't affect any of my other meds or bgs.
Last blood test said thyroid function higher but ill be normal this time as I can tell by sleep pattern.
On 20g carb thyroid performed better but I was having dizzy spells and shakes ( not from low sugar)
On no more than 100g of carb daily thyroid good on meds.
More than 100gs thyroid still good on meds but higher bgs for longer.
I hope this helps.

All I know about thyroid is that if its underactive your metabolism is slow and overactive it is fast....
It maybe worth seeing if there is a section of the forum that discusses interaction with other meds and if there is and there's not a thread there about it then start one yourself......you never know it could be that having the thyroid meds reduces your need for the diabetes meds. If I were you I'd make a diary of your foods, your meds and lots of testing before and after every meal (if you don't already) so that you have something to discuss with your doctor with supporting facts and figures.
Good luck with the balancing act

I am only on the Levothyroxine - 50g. My TSR was 14
I have reduced carbs but am not doing the LCHF regieme - a lot of moaning from the other half already about my reduced carbs diet. So I show him my test results and show him why certain foods don't agree with me - the message eventually gets through to him. I have upped my physical activities and think I am now slowly starting to lose weight, so something is moving in the right direction.
I guess its all trial and error ..... I did read on the thyroid forum that reducing carbs too much is not the best thing for the thyroid

Evening all hope your all well, does anyone know what is the correct amount of carbs to eat each day? Thanks

@magsiesss just remember everyone is different. I found out what my body does through trial and error too.
I will reduce/ increase my carbs again in the future, depending on my bloodtest results.
