Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

15.6 this morning on waking after going to bed on 20.4..... I seriously need a better diabetic nurse, I once a month telephone call just isn't doing it and I can't contact her as receptionist told me she doesn't take calls!!

Meanwhile, how are your readings immediately before and two hours after meals? Are you doing everything you can to keep carb intake low?

For dietary advice and help with LCHF, I'd raise a separate thread in the Food and Nutrition neighbourhood of the forum. There are lots of knowledgeable and experienced folk there.

Woke up to a BG of a. 6.1 mmol/L, measured again after a few minutes, then a 5.7mmol/L, went for a 3km hard run, got it down to 5.3mmol/L. All before breakfast.
Q. I have fresh aliquots, but I have aliquots that expired in the late spring 2024, are they still good/reliable? I've tested against the fresh ones and the measurements are identical..... thus far.

When this happens, more often than not, it's the first test which is unreliable for any number of reasons. You were right to retest.

In reply to your question, for the avoidance of doubt, fresh samples are preferable.

Can you not email the surgery? Sometimes I find its easier. At least then your worries and concerns are down on the system. If you ask for the email address of the Surgery you can just email and they should forward it to the nurse ;)
