Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

My readings range from 6 to 7.5. I only worry if they are consistently above 8, otherwise it seems that keeping to these levels mean my overall sugar readings are ok.

My most recent Hbac1 was 7.4 - this is down from 7.6 at the last one 3 months ago. Have stopped taking pioglitazone as I was already on sitagliptin and finding it hard to lose weight. I have lost 10 kg through reducing carbs.

Doc tried to get me back on the pioglitazone even tho my sugar had come down - why do they try and overmedicate us???

8.9! This is crazy. Was 5.9 going to bed, but didn't sleep very well with the heat etc. Dawn Phenomenon of course, but come on -- this is ridiculous. Maybe I should read it upside down next time -- 6.8 would have been passable...

on the morning that i attended hospital for the blood test which diagnosed me i had a glucose reading of 25.6 and that was at 9am and i had been fasting since 10pm the previous night. i have had numerous readings during intervals in the day where my monitor simply says "HI" as it cannot record the levels.

Hi Owen and welcome to the forum.

As this is your first post, introduce yourself on the Greetings and Introduction board and people will try and help you to get those numbers down.

Daisy will also add her post for newly diagnosed which is full of helpful advice.

Rare fasting test for me, don't often do them. 4.9
Good test. Used to have a small glass of milk before bed, always got high 5's. Cut it out, got low 5's high 4's. Now back on small glass of milk, but lactofree, (half the carbs) and same BGs as with no milk.

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

6.3 for me. I also rarely do fasting tests.

Hello,

It was 5.7mmol at 6am, then fell asleep again and woke at 8am it was 5.6mmol.

Once I got up at 8am, by 9am it was 6.6mmol.

Then ate a slice of toast at 9am by 11am it was 6.7mmol.

cheers

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

5.2 pre-bed.

4.9 this morning.

I always do the fasting and night test, I like knowing how I start and end the day.

Its not long getting out of hand the ol' BG, my post teatime 2hr test was 6.7, the was a reality check, meal was carbs heavy plus I'd been letting it creep up, but my downfall has been foregoing my usual exercise regime due to bad weather. I'm proactive again and ignoring the weather, got soaked last night and this morning .....but I never melted :D
