Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Stopped trying to convert to lbs and kg as I'm sure I was doing it wrong and googles calculator was massively out (lost in conversion.)

plus kgs and lbs are such big numbers with such little changes I prefer the stones and lbs numbers :playful:

2023/03/03 - 24 stone 6lbs

2023/03/10 - 23 Stone 11lbs

A surprising -9lbs down

Seems a lot but I suppose there's a lot to go, am eating pretty low carb (for me) at around 48g paced over the day (not counting some green stuff) which doesnt seem to negatively affect my bgs. Calories are clocking in around 800-1000 per day, which is a pretty big deficit from what I should be eating to maintain my weight. (one app reckons 3250 calories a day to maintain my current weight but I'm wary of such recommendations anyway.)

I prefer stones and pounds. Nicer when your on to the next stone lol

Aagh, just been away for 10 days and the scales at the resort were giving me low 73s and high 72s.

74.4kg so back on the wagon (far too much alcohol on holiday)

No change at all. 217.3  :(

hahaha yes!

I know it's cause I'm used to the measure but it feels like so much more movement to a milestone when there's 14lbs to a stone.

kgs and lbs alone seem like a huge expanse to me.

2023/03/10 - 23 Stone 11lbs

2023/03/17 - 23 Stone 7lbs,

(although I weighed later after a nap and a shower and its was 23 stone 5lbs lol)

Wont split hairs and will use the higher number for now, which is a further reduction of 4lbs, this week.

and 2 Stone 7lbs in total since Jan.

Sorry Ellie, maybe going off topic, just joined forum was diagnosed with type 2 2 years ago, was 18st 4 , a did stick rigidly to exercise bike and Mediterranean diet and lost 4st, kinda still stick to my exercise and diet regime, but just when you mention alcohol wouldn’t mind a wee drink with friends now and again, what’s best drink to drink and how much would be ok a night out

That’s great raven, you really will feel the difference, a got an ankle fusion was weighing in and over 18st was saying to the surgeon s it was still sore and they would have to redo it, they said they would and when I got the blood test to say I was okay for the op that’s when I got diagnosed with diabetes 2, like you my knees ached and ankle was still sore, best exercise rather walking a found was stationary bike, very easy pace to start with then build up, no impact on knees or joints, once I lost the weight my ankles stopped hurting as did my knees and I can now do walks aswell, so didn’t the ankles redone

Thanks Clarkey. that's brilliant that the ankle didn't need re-doing.

Yeah, Like you say, I def feel the difference already, lighter in movement and with ease I can do stuff, didn't realise how much it was effecting me, mentally and physically. Its' still a work in progress as I really need to knock off a lot more as never been so heavy most of adult life, even now seems like a long way.

Feel more up for exercise now and the bike idea is a good call, low impact. I've got a half decent bike I haven't ridden in maybe 8 years in the shed. wonder if I could convert it if it isn't road fit now, I know they sell those things with rollers but not looked too much into it.

Feel you on the hurting ankles, been to docs and podiatrist and a lot of them shrugged and just said lose weight, got a dodgy right leg as well that seems to get better after a bit of walking/stretching and no one seemed to think it was serious, but can end up limping at times when just get up, specially when no shoes on. My thing right now is now I've lost a bit of weight keeping the joints going - wish could just open them up and oil them like you would anything mechanical. hip flexors are very stiff, painful on stretching after lost the current weight and range of motion lifting one leg wasn't great but been stretching/strengthening and can move it better now after a week or so. early days and I guess getting the movement/strength back takes time.

Going to look into bike now actually, brilliant idea

Oh boy. Not the best week. Up (1.3lb) 218.6. After doing so well it is getting me down.
Diabetic nurse just rang. Metformin SR dropped to once a day... :-)

Scales are all over the place this morning, moved them to another tile and there was 3lb difference to the weight id just logged, Moved them back and the difference was still there. Don’t imagine I'd lost 3lb just moving it back and forth, nothing stuck under it and doesn’t look like needs a clean, going to change the batteries and report back.

Edit: changed batteries, far more stable on both tiles now.

2023/03/17 - 23 Stone 7lbs

2023/03/24 - 23 Stone 2lbs

Difference of 4/5lbs this week, 40lbs in total since Jan.

Second part brilliant news.

Hugs for the first bit, depending on your goal/s you might still be doing well? (though not feeling like it at the moment)

Thank you. Trying to lose weight has always been a struggle and not being active doesn't help.

and 73.2kg after a teetotal week so hopefully I'm back on track....
and 73.8kg after a non teetotal week, sigh...

I freely admit to drinking too much on occasion. I stick to wine because it doesn't affect my bg much, but the reason I try to moderate it (apart from general health) is that I find that low carb alone isn't enough to keep my weight down unless I do at least some of the following (exercise. not too much alcohol, avoid binge cheese eating).

But I'm T1 (albeit with some insulin resistance due to T2 dad) so am not a typical poster on this thread. I'm lowish carb not keto, and I am injecting insulin for my carbs.

Personally if I was T2 I'd probably just try to stick to low carb drinks (spirits, dry wines) and treat beer with extreme caution. (I do that as a T1 so I don't have to take insulin for the alcohol).

Well after last week..... This week down 3lbs 215.6 Hooray!

2023/03/24 - 23 Stone 2lbs

2023/03/31 - 23 Stone on the head, it was teetering 1 lb below at 22.13 but I'm going with the higher reading.

so that's 2lbs.. not bad not bad, been eating more this week as well, and I'm not going to compare the rate of loss with previous weeks, cause its easy to forget its a culminative effort and 2lb this week and 5lb last week is still 7lb in 2 weeks, and 42lb in total, which isn't disappointing at all lol

funny how the mind can play tricks with you over such little things.
