Finally home from hospital late yesterday evening and had such a good night’s sleep in my own bed, great not being woken at 6.30am! Long story short I had a kidney stone seen on CT, which was stuck, so so painful (pain on a 0 - 10 scale was 100, never felt anything like it :(). Went to theatre and they couldn’t find the stone, 2nd CT showed it had hidden back in my kidney! However they’ve inserted a stent so if the stone decides to travel south again it should slip down the stent without getting stuck. I am listed for an urgent op to have the stent removed and the stone if it’s stayed put. The stent isn’t comfy, I can feel it and can’t lift anything heavy til it’s out. I’m still a work in progress but at least my pain score has come down considerably! Hospital food I hear you ask? Less said about that the better! :joyful:

How awful for you. I hope it shifts soon. Do they know what caused the stone, or are you just prone to them x
 
Bacon and egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, slice of vegimite in low carb toast. for breakfast
Sausages, refried veggies for lunch.
Grilled spanish mackerel fillets from our neighbour who goes fishing out on the reef, green veggies for dinner.

I only had one egg and one slice of middle bacon, just to see if I could get that down ok, will increase back to normal meal size gradually.

Or a plan A will be to eat smaller meals and fit a smoko in to my weight stable.

As it comes out of the tin, then pour a bit of water into the tin and give it a swill around to get the rest out. and put that in with the rest.
 
Really grotty today. I had Em overnight so that her parents could get the early morning ferry to go to the mainland to pick up the new dog. She doesn't sleep very well but I got her to bed by 10 pm - quite a challenge - and to sleep by 11.30! (In my bed.) She insisted that I should stay with her but I told her I would probably have to get up after a while, to sit in the kitchen because of my arthritis and she promptly decided that when I got up, she would come and keep me company and we could share the big chair. Anyway, she went to sleep and I did drop off around midnight. I had to get up about 3 am but crept away, not waking her and took some pain killers and was just dozing off in the chair when she came through, as bright as a button, to keep me company. So that was the night over. She seemed fine despite the lack of sleep. I wasn't sure that I would survive the experience!

But I did, of course, and have just been "treated" by being shown the new dog. No 2 son took it up to the school to meet Em when she came out and dropped by to show me. She's a beautiful young dog, clearly calm and well behaved but she's already huge (5 months old). Her previous owner became wheelchair bound just after he got her as a pup (8 weeks, I suppose) and she has spent her entire life in a town house, not able to get out and run. She appears to be a bit underweight under all her fur, but presumably she'll put some on, as well as some muscle, over the next while. Not at all sure what the target weight for a St Bernard is.

Edited to add: I was wrong, the St Bernard is not 5 months, but 10 months. I thought she was pretty massive for 5 months! Still a pup though, apparently, even though well behaved when on the lead; when playing with the other dogs, she's as mad as everything/body in their house!

Good Evening everyone :)
Today I had my diabetic blood tests (at 10am) so only had a glass of water before going.
It's only a four minute walk though, so I had some Greek yogurt with blueberries, pumpkin seeds and chia seeds added for my late breakfast. At 1pm I just had a small handful of brazil, walnuts and almonds with a slither of cheese which was more than enough, and for dinner I had a Beefburger with mushrooms, green beans, spinach, sliced fresh tomato garnish and a little squirt of Helman's. I drink Earl Grey without milk as it's something I've done for perhaps 25 years now! But with my last cup, following dinner I added a touch of double cream. Oh .. almost forgot my square of Lindt 85% (which broke off wrong so I ended u with slightly more than one square!
 
I’m not enjoying myself at the moment :( My stone and stent combo are not at all comfy, I have a constant dull ache, intermittent pain, spasms and occasional nausea, I don’t think I can put up with this for too long, although I could probably cope better if I had an end date.
So my dinners have been lazy ones this week, last night was a prepared chicken meal from Waitrose, tonight was beef meatballs with a jar of tomato and mascarpone sauce, meant for pasta! Tomorrow will be some Waitrose chicken thighs stuffed with pork and bacon. Yep you’ve guessed it Waitrose have a deal 3 meat items for a tenner!

I am very sorry to hear of your discomfort. Can you call the doctor and ask if it's "supposed" to be this uncomfortable?
Your Waitrose meals sound delicious. Next time I make Tuna Helper I am going to replace the included noodles with zucchini "zoodles" I think.
 
I have added a extra small meal into my day, smoko. I have reduced the size of my other meals as I have not been finishing them.

Curried boiled eggs on low carb toast pot of chobani greek yoghurt for breakfast.
Bacon cheese and lettuce low carb wraps for smoko.
Chicken wings and a couple of drumsticks nuked in the microwave for lunch.
Lamb bbq shoulder chops, green veggies and gravy, sugar free orange jelly with a small spoonful of mango sorbet for dinner.

First day of Spring here, so the temps will start to rise and there will be plenty of salads on the menu again.

I officially retired yesterday, all the paperwork was finally signed off for selling the business and handing over to the new owners.

Unfortunately the surgeon warned me of all the symptoms I’m getting, so yes it’s ‘supposed’ to be like this in 80% of patients with a ureteric stent, I just hoped I’d be one of the 20%!

If someone had told me six months ago I would be retiring in September, I would have told them "don't talk bull ****".

A life changing event did come into my life after easter so the decision was made by my partner and I to sell up and enjoy life to the fullest, as I do not know how long I have got to go before the cancer finally gets me.

I know the new owners well as they are my two full time senior electricians so the business is in good hands.We did have a couple of beers last night to wish them success.
 
The family is going through a bit of a hard time right now. As I said, DIL's grandmother died, aged 106, then our elder grandson's prospective father-in-law died unexpectedly, then elder grandson's prospective aunt, also unexpectedly. All within a week.

This month, my brother has to go for surgery to remove a kidney with a tumour growing on it, my late husband's sister has been taken into hospital in Ayrshire with possible kidney problems and her sister has to have surgery for a replacement of her previously replaced knee.

I knew that she has had problems with that knee for some years now. The same problem arose with the sister who has now been taken into hospital, although she wasn't offered a further replacement. It seems that knee replacements don't last. This was one of the reasons I opted NOT to have a similar operation when I could have. Better the devil I know...

Edit: there's none of us getting any younger - that's the problem. "Getting old is not for cissies!"

Now I am having smaller meal portions, and having a smoko snack I have not bee leaving any food from the full feeling in my stomach.

I slice of middle bacon, cheese and one egg omelette mushrooms :meh:, small portion of two fruits with a chobani greek yoghurt for breakfast.
Sardines on one slice low carb toast, glass of lime / lemon cordial with a scoop of OsmoLax mixed in it for smoko.
Cocktail prawns in a couple of low carb wraps for lunch.
Rib fillet steak, green veggies , gravy for dinner.

I had my smoko snack on the back verandah, one of the local magpies paid a scrounging visit, he / she did not like sardines on toast though. I will probably end up on it's swoop list this year.

Just put on a new Fentanyl patch as it was due this morning, just waiting for it to kick in.

Em's school has a case of covid 19 and all children who have any kind of symptom are being told to stay at home - Em has developed a really bad cold over the last 3 days, so she's off. Is it covid? Who knows.

Her brother goes to the Nicolson Institute in Stornoway and they have cases of the virus as well. He has been off school since Monday - actually feeling ill over the past weekend - and still feeling very ill, but it seems to be just a really bad cold.

We don't know any more what are the symptoms of the Delta virus, so either of them, or both, could have it. Pretty sure they will recover, but it's miserable for them just now. Their Mum and Dad had a lateral flow test before they went on the ferry on Monday, and they were clear, so maybe all's well and it is just bad summer colds. Difficult to know if they should be isolated even if the symptoms clear.
 
I give in, I have to phone the Drs tomorrow, the pain etc of my kidney stone is getting worse not better. I am a Health Walk Leader and I lead an hour’s gentle walk this morning and I paid for it later :(
Enough is enough!

We’re pretty sure we had the Delta variant when we tested positive in July. The symptoms were just like a cold, sore throat, runny nose, cough and the only oddity was loss of taste and smell.
