What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

B: omelette with blue cheese and walnuts
L: 4 cocktail sausages. Forgot that school lunch was going to be a street party style buffet - sandwiches, crisps, marshmallows and cakes abounded. Only thing that was vaguely low carb were the cocktail sausages!
D: courgetti carbonara. First time I have made courgetti. Was good though what looked like a goodly amount in the frying pan to start soon shrunk down. Home made sauce was easy and delicious.
Contemplating custard for dessert:p

B. Bacon and scrambled egg
L. Chicken and salad veg
D. Pork chop, cauli mash and green beans
S. 30g Cathederal city
25g mixed nuts
Started drinking green tea with raspberry....yumm

B: coffencream x 2
L: lidl protein roll and pate
D: humungous amount of caulicheese and stir fried chicken livers. May have strawbs later. They need eating, but i keep forgetting!

B. 1 slice Burgen toast & cheese
L. 3x 85% pork sausages % 1/4 frittata
D. 2 mackerel fillets & cauliflower cous cous
Snacks. 2 crispy bacon strips with 1 oz Dbl Gloucester with chives (x twice)

B - fake bacon, eggs scrambled with double cream added
L - olives, mozzarella, few sundried tomatoes, grilled artichokes, green salad
D - grilled halloumi, fried sweet potato and broccoli

I think it might be a bit carb heavy but I've enjoyed every morsel!

B - Nothing
L / Brunch - Scottish smoked kippers and soft boiled egg. Mug of coffee with semi skimmed milk and NO sugar (trying to get used to it)
D - Pork loin with chinese stir fried veggies (mushrooms, beansprouts, carrots and cabbage) - fresh from the supermarket as opposed to the takeaway ;) Followed by fresh watermelon and strawberry smoothie made in the Nutri Ninja
S - 4x Oatcakes and some mature cheddar cheese

Some great ideas on this thread for inspiration :D:happy:

Last night's supper: 2 parmesan crisps, and 6 green olives, and a couple more chocolate hazelnut "fat balls". Cocoa with few drops of stevia, almond milk and cream. (BG 6.2->6.5)

Brunch: fresh fig with cream cheese, thick cream and lime juice mix; hazelnut coffee with almond milk

Dinner: salmon with cream and parsely sauce, broccoli and green beans. Another third of my apple and blackerries, and 2 more hazelnut fatty balls. Jasmine green tea.

Snack: 1 piece 85% Lindt choc - my after dinner treat.

BG highish again today 6.9, 7.5->6.8, 6.8->6.5 - but if it stays flattish, I'm fairly happy.

D: We went out to eat! I checked the menu beforehand but on arrival discovered they had a seafood sampler night with three starters on one plate and three mains on another. So we had two of those and mixed and matched. I had Mrs D's mussels in cream sauce and she had my haddock risotto and battered gurnard (!)

I know.
Did it again, this evening.

I eat, then think 'if i still want something in a few minutes...' And then i forget all about them!

Such is the power of high fat.
It is so wonderful to be satisfied.

It takes sometime to settle to the new routine and, though it can be difficult, don't get too hung up by a high 2 hour reading, learn from it and things will smooth out.
It does sound as if you are in charge of what you eat, which is good.
Stay posting.

B Mug of coffee with semi skimmed milk and NO sugar (trying to get used to it)
Try cream (or at least full fat milk) instead of semi skimmed especially since you are on a lower carb diet. There is sugar in milk in the form of lactose - but none apparently in cream, and you'll be benefitting from the extra fats in these alternatives. Have a look at this table for comparisons.

If desperate for a sweetened drink, you can use stevia or erythritol - they are both low/no carb and low in calories, and are recommended as being diabetic friendly.
