What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Feel like I’ve eaten rather too much today, probably because I was indoors for most of it.
B: DD breakfast sandwich
L: handful of walnuts and a small lump of cheddar
D: 1/2 a rump steak and 1/2 a venison steak with mushrooms and wilted spinach. One of the lc Bountybars with coffee afterwards.

Thanks for that. All useful stuff to ponder. A brain dump from me to follow!

Don’t track calories in the sense that I’m not using them to gauge food intake, but they are included in my food tracking- just never really analysed them.

Despite my weight loss and despite being in the maintenance phase I do still find it very easy to put weight on, and it tends to accumulate in the danger areas around the torso, which is why I get drawn to fasting to try and trigger autophagy and solve that piece of the puzzle. However, I think I’m attempting fasts either too often or for too long and then sparking hunger shortly afterwards. With hunger also comes over eating, so I need to figure out a middle way.

Exercise is an interesting one. It doesn’t make me hungry (at least not immediately) and fasting/OMAD is very easy when I’m out walking or playing footie all day.

Carnivore month had me on a very even keel, so another period of being a bit stricter around that might be on the horizon.

Thanks as ever for your thought provoking comments.

I have missed everyone

We missed you too, Ziggy. Good to see you back.

This is a fasting day for me

Good luck - and sorry about the daffodils

And yes, I have to agree with you on all counts, esp the triangular rubbish and the whats-the-point tomatoes.

Me too!

How do you make the chia pudding?

It’s quite some time since I made one, but my recipe uses double cream and almond milk.

Feel like I’ve eaten rather too much today,

Another me too!

Another prolific day on this thread. Another hungry day.

Lunch was M&S Serrano ham and manchego cheese rollitos and a bag of their pork crackling.

Dinner - another slow cooker preparation. Pork belly strips and a pork chop. Very good. Have taken to adding bones and just a small amount of fat under the meat to be cooked rather than liquid or veg. Has worked well and adds a lot of flavour. Large (very) portion of chocolate mousse (the whipped creamy cheese one) and some almond butter to follow.

Probably the highest fat meal of my 3.5 years doing this. Had tea and cocoa until about 17.30 then 2 experiments. Celeriac duaphinoise and heck sausages- first time for both - had kale crisps as well. There were 300 gms double cream in the celeriac ( plus cheese and butter obs) and I must have eaten 2/3+ and probably ended up with 4 sausages. Also had a buttered not cross bun (@geefull's sponge with cinnamon and 2 sultanas) Didn't expect to like the celeriac or sausages but liked both - just too much in 1 go for my tastes. Not stuffed or very full but had enough fat for some time. Have learned a new dish and another brand of sausages.
Edit: I will have both new items again but not in the same meal and not as much duaphinoise

That Not Cross Bun sounds delicious - do you have a recipe for it? I tried searching Geefull's posts but couldn't find the actual recipe. I could actually consider rolling my sleeves up and making something that tastes like hot cross buns (but maybe not on a fasting day).

Hopefully I have PMd you into our conversation with the recipe.

Flavoured or plain benecol yog?

I use the 65ml yoghurt drinks with 4 tsp of chia seeds, sometimes the flavoured ones or sometimes the plain. If I use the plain ones I add espresso coffee powder, or orange or lemon extract

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: chicken soup with LC cheesy bread followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: coffee chia pudding and black coffee.
Dinner: gammon steak and mixed veg followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola

Okay thanks. Some nice ideas there. I suppose one could add some cocoa powder....

Share what you've eaten today with the rest of the DCUK community and maybe steal a few ideas for yourself!

Please remember that this is the 'Low Carb Diet Forum' and that this thread isn't for low carb debates
Porridge natural yogurt raspberries and blueberries
Lunch salad and soya yogurt
Salmon salad

Evening Everyone. Hope your Tuesday has treated you well
B : usual peanut & chocolate protein bar with coffee
L : 2 chilli & lime chicken quarters with mayo
D : my new recipe of the week https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/keto-bacon-burger-casserole/servings/2
My portion was less carbs than the recipe states as my darling other half took one look at his plate and whinged ‘is that it I’m starving’ - so I donated him more of my share as I’m more used to smaller portions. Served with lettuce cucumber and spicy mayo
Will no doubt have more coffee later

You're going to make him wither away with those portions, the poor darling that they are!

For me today!

Breakfast: You guessed it, coffee with cream! Found that Arlington is my go to cream now, delish without anything sweetening the deal as it was!
Lunch: Two boiled eggs, a couple of chunks of cheddar and some corned beef wrapped around.
Dinner: Chicken breast smothered in cheese sauce, mushroom and ham with salt and pepper cabbage on the side.

Hello all,

Thanks for the welcome back, @zauberflote and @Goonergal.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Woke up really early today feeling ravenous. So, had a a piece of cheese and a slice of the keto poppy seed cake with butter.

Some hours later breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.

Lunch: Half a DD keto roll with goat cream cheese and smoked salmon. A small plate with chicken and eggplant in coconut milk, green curry and Thai basil.

In the afternoon, tried out a new recipe for Pad Thai, which I saw online a couple of days ago, making some adaptations to ketofy it. Actually, quite happy with how it came out -- you probably wouldn't guess it's keto if you weren't told. Had a glass of red wine while cooking.

Dinnner: A large plate of Pad Thai.

Edited to add: About 30g of 85% chocolate in the afternoon.

XBX 16 as usual, waiting for improvement in shoulder before move up a level. Now started few remedial exercises at night.
Nasty grey and wet morning, didn't want to get up at all. Neither did Mum, we agreed another hour in bed would have been nice.
breakfast: tea, mixed up the two types of granola to go with those strawberries, more tea.
Lunch; coleslaw, tuna. Burgen bread toasted with cream cheese and smattering of chutney. Odd combination. Just finishing up all the odds in the fridge. Handful of brazil nuts to make up calories.
Dinner, stir fry vegetables and prawns, LC apple Crumble served with cream. Two glasses of wine.
Just worked out the calories in the crumble, exceeded my target today, by having seconds.
Early start tomorrow, off to hospital with Mum again.
very tired so off to bed, goodnight all

@javfra wow if I were to eat those carbs, I’d have sky-high blood glucose...(toast, honey, macaroni, fruit). The meals look tasty, I will admit!
Way too much to catch up here now. Probably in a few days. Tomorrow is a travel day; fly, bus, then we’re THERE! Any time I’m not walking around, I’ll be asleep. Have too much prep to do to get lots of sleep tonight.
Enjoy yourselves, all you lovely people!

Enjoy, @zauberflote . Being around family once in a while, for a while, is wonderful.
