What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening all. OMAD again today, although I am sitting on a train with a couple of small bags of nuts in my daypack so that may change.

Lunch was a burger with cheddar, bacon, a fried egg and a tiny bit of onion. Not hungry since but that could be the heat - it was beyond hot in DC today. 98 degrees on the sign in the centre of town at 3.30pm.

@DJC3 3.5 days in and still no Five Guys!

Well I never! I’m losing the bet with myself!

If he has been incapacitated three days, with no improvement, he needs to see someone, in my view. How does he feel when he gets up; say to use the loo?

Is he taking anything to ease the discomfort?

In my opinion too, but its sunday, we are in france and our french is limited, plus, he is a man. "It will get better.".. Now taking ibuprofen and paracetamol. Think he may have been feeling a little better this morning, but then he tried sitting up in bed...but he has gone to take a shower anyway - " must struggle on"

@dunelm. I wish I could be not very hungry! I nearly always am.
.

I worked up to it - not on purpose - or it may just be because I eat less because I’m getting older - at least that’s what all the pundits would have us believe - I think it’s just rich folk trying to bump us all off once we no longer work.

Anyhow - if you feel hungry, try drinking a glass of water or having some tea. A glass of water about half an hour before you eat can help with portion control.

I don't want to scare you, but unless he can pinpoint the event that led to this pain, there is no certainty the pain is a result of over use. Pain in the shoulder can be radiating from all sorts. Of course, some of those are of no concern and some moreso.

Taking to bed in pain (unless specific and identified) always warrants attention in my world.

Having had a recent blue light event in our lives, in this house, pain is not to be meddled with. In our case, it needed attention and warranted the blue lights, but thankfully the outcome was the best we could have expected.

Get him seen tomorrow, SlimLizzy would be my strong suggestion.

Funny about the rich folk comment!

If you can keep him resting today, perhaps you can get some professional advice tomorrow. It won’t do him any favours for him to try to keep working. A doctor would surely speak enough English.
In my experience my OH is not the best judge of his own health- I have learnt now not to rely on his opinion as to what he can and cannot do. Example- him collapsed halfway down the stairs with a burst ulcer after aggressively refusing to see a doctor. I know better now!
I agree with DCUK Mod. You’re going to have to be bossy and tell him what he’s not going to do. (which my family would say comes naturally to me! )

He us up and making coffee, still look

He seems a bit better, is up and watching Tv. Nurse was asking about radiating pain, he said not. Have managed to get gas for the cooker as well.
Agree needs to be seen tomorrow if no significant improvement.

Erm,........ Experience tells me, I don't tell my OH what he can and can't do, but I do plant the relevant seeds

@SlimLizzy Big hug coming your way. I don't know why our menfolk do this... is it because they don't want to worry us? Or because they think it's not manly to get ill? Or because they think there's nothing really wrong with them unless a doctor says there is and if you don't see a doctor that can't happen? Or are they just scared of doctors?

I eventually persuaded Mr C in to going to the doctor recently after he admitted to chest pains again and he got a lot of reassurance from the Dr only doing blood tests but yesterday he got an appointment letter from the Cardiology Unit at the Doncaster Royal Infirmary and was obviously shocked and more than a bit annoyed. I'm smoothing it over by saying the Dr is taking precautions 'just in case'. I don't understand the way his mind is working at all. It feels like if he doesn't get the diagnosis then (in his mind) he hasn't got it - but we don't even know what 'it' is....... ARGGHHHHHHH :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Right, having got that rant out of my system, today's menu is

Breakfast: Usual Sunday egg, bacon, high meat content chipolata, mushrooms and baked beans

Lunch: None

Dinner: Morrison's minted lamb ribs (favourite)

Dessert: any ripe strawberries and maybe (depending on BG) a small handful of Mr C's gorgeous cherries

Drinks: black decaff coffee, still spring water and maybe a glass of red wine

I used to be tactful but have now given that idea up as a waste of time. After the ulcer nonsense (he was stuck on the stairs until the paramedics arrived because I couldn’t lift his dead weight), I might now make a suggestion if I have any idea. If he ignores it, he can sort himself out, and if he takes notice then I’ll help him. I’m too old to bash my head against the wall just for fun.

@ianpspurs - I still finger test with a Libre. Morning & Evening. If I get an odd reading then I'll usually check as well to ensure it isnt a rogue sensor. This is becoming less common now because they updated the App to improve the accuracy and they certainly are a lot closer to the finger stab reading now.
@Goonergal - have a wonderful holiday. We made that journey in reverse. We went DC to New York. I loved DC and I loved the train journey.
@SlimLizzy - I do hope Mr Slim improves but I agree with the others, he needs to see a Dr if nothing changes. It's true that we need to drag them to appointments. Drives me nuts!

After bizarre Friday yesterday was more normal at the wedding. Stunning venue but we were interrupted by frequent showers which cut short time in the garden. It was a church but has been converted to an event venue.
B. TAG with ADOC. 2 slices boiled ham with mustard, topped with 2 poached eggs, 4 bistro tomatoes and a spoonful of M&S whipped cheese on the side.
L. A few glasses of dry fizz but no food as there was not one single canape that was carb friendly.
D. Having been concerned that the food was not going to work, I was pleasantly surprised that the offerings were ideal. Started with a mix of red pesto, green tomato slices, halves of cherry tomatoes, padron peppers and burrata (a soft mozzarella that has more curds and cream inside). Main was a choice of salmon or chicken. I went for the salmon which came with spinach and broccoli. Skipped the potato. Dessert they actually produced a plate of berries for me but I had to go through it to remove the orange slices. Everyone elses dessert was large chocolate eggs which when smashed revealed mint and vanilla ice cream, tablet and mini meringues. They were broken onto a bed of apple puree and creme fraise. Black coffee and BG'S were fine all night.
Later they served little pots of haggis, neeps and tatties. Skipped the tatties but had the haggis and neeps. Why does alcohol make you hungry?
Today we have last swimming lesson for the summer and I'll need to go shopping as I have nothing for dinner.

Hi All. What a scorcher of a day yesterday was.
Yestedays food went as follows:
Breakfast: usual slice HiLo toast, butter, tea.
Even if its hot I have to start the day with at least two mugs of hot tea which of course is drop in the ocean compared to @ianpspurs!
Lunch: Prawn cocktail with Little Gem.
Supper: Moules vacuum packed from W******e. OH had both bread and chips and I stole the crispy chips from his. Bit disappointing compared to fresh. But then its only been a couple of weeks since I had glorious moules in Cornwall which tasted of the sea.
Was going to do FroYo but it got late and I grabbed a bit of Ewes cheese with Oregano also from above mentioned store. Its my latest “thing”. OH doesnt like it so I only buy 100g at a time or I could easily overdo it!

Todays food:
Breakfast: Tea x2.
Brunch of two slices bacon and two scrambled egg.
Oh and I like my eggs softly scrambled and creamy with good knob butter. I take the pan off the heat long before they could be considered done and continue stirring.
My boys grew up calling it “creamy egg” and still do. Cant be doing with dry scrambled egg which is mostly what you get out.
Supper: will be Roast chicken, tenderstem brocolli, mushrooms fried in butter.
Afters maybe, could be FroYo or theres a bit of that Oregano cheese left!
Prefaced by at least 1 G&ST, well it is still the weekend.

Enjoy the test of the weekend everyone.

Food today

Mug tea x2
Cwc x2

Not hungry in this heat

Another cwc. Also water with salt or lemon in

Roast beef with mayonnaise and some cheese which needed using up

Cwc but did not finish it

Moved on to cuppa teas and water with either pinch salt, lemon juice, bit glucose etc in

Eggs and cheese to use up the cheese again.

Had planned a third meal of fish but no chance. Far too hot to eat any more. Just want liquids..,

Lol, yes. He did at one point say "back to work tomorrow" think it was a joke, managed not to scream at him. He is back to lying on bed now, after couple of hours up. Yesterday could not manage more than toilet visits, so quite a big improvement.
