@ianpspurs - Thank you so much - I was feeling a bit disheartened yesterday.
@DCUKMod - I wasn't having a winge at you (or anyone else) I'm having a winge at myself. I just am struggling to believe that I'm having to go through all this again. It seems to happen at least once a year.
@Annb - I used to be on insulin and no matter how much I carb counted I could never get my BG to do what I wanted it to. You have my admiration for persevering with it the way you are. I found the insulin made me put on LOADS of weight - 5 stones in 5 years.
Right.... yesterday.... a nice little surprise:
Monday bed: 6.9
Tuesday FBG 8.6
Breakfast: Advent calendar cheese and (separately) a chaffle with sugar free syrup
2 hours after 8.3
Lunch: 6.3
Usual cheese, cherry tomatoes and cucumber
2 hours after 6.3
Dinner: 5.9 (Woo HOOOO)
Quorn thing, brussels sprouts and cauliflower and lots of butter
2 hours after: 7.3
Bed time: 5.8
Drinks: caffeinated coffee with breakfast, diet pepsi with my tablets then decaff until lunchtime. Loads of water.
Food today: 1 window each crackling and cheese (brie and cranberry) 20 gms cheese, about a fly's weight crackling around 13.00 hrs; Evening (just eaten) salmon (marinaded in garlic and rosemary, pan fried in butter, crisp skin - proud of myself) avocado, large bowl of salad with lots of chia and linseeds. Water, tea, a latte in Waitrose. Today was my Dad's birthday so laid a wreath on the grave - next grave is his brother and within a cricket pitch are 1 set of their grandparents and their parents. Quite fitting and comforting. Lots of parcels picked up today (literally a car full) including air fryer. I have taken against it instantly - 3 books, gadgets and gizmos - I just wanted halloumi fries and crsipy skin on my salmon not a degree level course before eating. Julie has been quite poorly since Monday - involves samples and blood tests - but seems to be getting better so air fryer may be used to cook the lamb chops I am marinading. Urgent blood tests around here mean Friday 13th 12.00 - madam cancelled it. Over the last 3 days sky and DPD have been given several volleys from her - made me laugh but I went Nordic walking today in case she noticed.
I hope the funeral goes as well as they can and your mum's longer time with you helps the grieving process.Hi all
@ianpspurs thinking of you re your anniversary of dads birthday and your in memorium visit to graveyard where family members are buried. We are a bit thoughtful this evening as about to travel north for mums sisters funeral. Hope too that Julie is feeling better soon. Re the air fryer we bought a cheap simple one and I’m loving it although I’m finding it’s tempting me-to try OHs chips!
@Goonergal work sounds stressful but only two more days to go to weekend - take care.
@annabell1 good you’re back from hospital but that apple turnover in your fridge sounds tempting !
@Chook and @Annb thinking of you both - you are both working so hard in the face of bodies that are not behaving in direct response to your hard work and efforts - keep going guys.
@PenguinMum sounds like real discipline exercised on your cookery demo outing
@maglil55 thank you for your encouraging message re the millionaires shortbread will keep an eye out for its return
@SlimLizzy hope your digestive system is settling.
I’m about to go AWOL for a few days - mum doesn't have Internet and her mobile phone signal is poor plus I’ll will be very busy with family, funeral and sorting mums place and packing so will pick up when back in a few days. Mum will be with us then for three weeks so may be erratic with my direct caring cohort increased! Taking her back on Boxing Day when younger brother taking over the caring.
Work for December finished this am - phew then this afternoon busy at autistic sons sorting stuff so can go away to York’s for a couple of days.
Breakfast one slice of bacon, egg and half a chaffle
Lunch cheddar, prosciutto and celery
Dinner beef casserole, two of OHs air fried home made chips!( thankfully no big bg reaction!) and buttered red cabbage and glass dry red wine followed by warmed lc lemon cake with yoghurt.
Catch up hopefully when back from my travels.
