What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Late breakfast. Just ff greek
Lunch. Leftover mince topped with cheese
4pm 2 slices hm ginger cake
7:30 roast chicken leeks, carrots, cabbage. 1 small glass white
9pm 2 slices hm lc ginger cake and a handful walnuts

My Sunday feasting:
Brunch: egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, white pudding, half a slice of seeded wholemeal bread. Couldn’t let that bacon fat go to waste in the pan, so the bread cleaned it up, nicely.
Dinner: rump steak, halloumi fries, salad, Pepsi max with a generous glug of rum.

Breakfast: toasted corned beef sandwich - didn't want to keep an open packet, so finished it off.
Later: will be liver and bacon - trying to get the iron levels up to see if that helps my breathing. Right now, after the liquorice stick experiment (see parallel thread), I can't really think about eating anything. Maybe tea or coffee will help.

I think I’ve picked up a 24hr bug, not felt very good today. The positive spin on this is that I’ve managed a 24hr fast. Very rare for me but just had a couple of mugs of tea with lactofree milk and it seems to have perked me up.
If I have dinner it’ll either be a plain omelette or a cup of Bovril.
Poor Dennis is fed up as I’ve only managed to take him out for a couple of very brief walks.
@Rachox I’m so sorry to read about your mum, I hope she’ll soon recover and be home again. ( or that you will at least be able to visit her in hosp)
@Pipp your Sunday feast sounds great. I Haven’t had white pudding for years. I was introduced to Captain Morgan Spiced Rum recently - absolutely gorgeous! Have you tried it?

breakfast; low carb granola, a toasted slice of carbzone bread and butter
then went to a morning funeral, so a bit hostage to the buffet which would be lunch. Ate a few nibbles, small cheese sandwich , managed to avoid crisps. enjoyed a much needed stiff gin.
mocha
tea: bacon sandwich in SLC bun. berries and cream. 90% lindt
pistachios

early night I think...

B: handful walnuts and 2 slices hm lc ginger bread but new libre on showed over 8! Confirmed by finger prick!!
Exercise class followed by hours hilly dog walk
Still 8s!
Late lunch if cheese slices wrapped around ham and rocket. One coffee with milk. 1 dark chocolate violet cream from special valentines box
Bg soared to 10 but only for an hour.

Thinking about dinner but not really hungry but can't starve hubby on valentines day. Mulling it over with a glass of white,
.bg finally in 6s

Lunch mushroom omelette cooked in butter followed by a few raspberries and hm yoghurt
Dinner - see photo - 2 panfried pheasant breasts which I’d wrapped in Parma ham to keep moist served with a very varied salad and small glass of red wine for Valentine’s Day followed by one of my upgraded SF raspberry jelly creams.
@Rachox I do hope you manage to see your mum and that she improves soon - very sorry to hear about her admission to hospital - hugs on the way from me.
@DJC3 sorry to hear about your virus- good you are viewing the positive of the long fast! Hope all back to normal soon.

Sorry your mum is poorly Rachox. Good wishes and hugs going her way and hope she's better soon.

Time for 2nd meal has come and gone - didn't have it because still feeling grotty after tasting the liquorice stick. The sugar in it must be similar in some way to that in Stevia and other plant based sugar replacements. Didn't take much to set me off.

So much for upping the iron level but I just heard today that I am to have iron infusions next week and the week after, so maybe it doesn't matter too much. Liver has now gone into the freezer for use some other time. Just as well Neil didn't manage to get more in this morning's shop.

Thanks everyone for wishing my mum well, visiting tomorrow afternoon so quick trip down the A34.
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a Food dr bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a phd bar.
Dinner: chicken curry with cauli rice followed by SF raspberry jelly and cream.

Had to get up early today, and didn't have much to eat over the day so I had a large evening meal.
Yesterday's leftover broccoli and tuna dish and a burger (in two halves to see if it was done yet, no idea how other people know when their meat is done but this works for me) with endive, tomato, mayo and hot sauce.

Groceries tomorrow morning, I hope I can think of something nice to cook before then!

Neighbour-in-the-garden has had a little accident at work on friday, severing the tendons of his left index and pinky finger. So he's had an emergency operation and his arm will be in a cast for the foreseeable future.
He's coping very well, one handed, he was building a nice fire in the garden on saturday and I heard him cutting firewood for his woodstove yesterday. But it has added the oddest chore to my morning routine:
Put on kettle for coffee, brush teeth, feed guinea pigs their veggies, feed chickens and turkeys, feed bunnies, feed guinea pigs dry food, and do neighbour's pony tail!

He has long hair and the wind is driving him crazy, blowing his hair in his eyes all the time. And it's absolutely impossible to do a pony tail with one hand.

D: ended up being yesterday's leftover roast chicken reheated in cream and cream cheese with spinach and plenty of pepper stirred through. Hubby had his with leftover roast potatoes. I just had a couple of spoonfuls. More white wine and 1 chocolate from the expensive box. I'm only having the dark ones. Luckily he likes the white and milk ones.
Happy valentines day everyone

Had a babybel and a coffee with cream for bf because it was the monday lunch club and I knew I would go over my carb limit. I took my bg before I went and again 2 hours later. It was 9 before and 11.6 after. I have no idea why it was 9 because I have been keeping to the lcdiet. I can only think that I am getting distressed because on March 4th it will be a year since my beloved daughter died. Any ideas if this could be the case? My bg has been higher for the last couple of days. Today we had oxtail soup, small portion of meat pie, 2 scoops of potato and gravy with cauli and carrot. For afters it was a trifle made in a glass tumbler. Plus because it was Valentines day they gave us a chocolate. For my tea I had 4 slices bacon and 2 fried eggs with small portion of canned tomatoes.Just taken my level and it is 7.1 and I have heartburn from Hades. Probably deserve it!

Can you ask him to share how he makes them turn out like this?
You never know, I might be in a patient mood at some point...
He cuts the celeriac into slices (about 1 in thick), and then he trims of the ugly bits. He then patiently cuts them into fries (pretty much all the same size!).
While this is going on, I have a baking tray heating in the oven. 400F or 200C. Put however many skinny fries you want in a bag (I use a ziplock), then add a tablespoon of olive oil or avocado oil, ground salt and pepper. I also add paprika most of the time. Give the bag a good shake/massage to coat then spread the fries on the hot tray. Keep them spread out. Depending on size they take about 20 - 25 mins.
I've done them in the air fryer as well, but I find they are not as crisp.

@Pipp your Sunday feast sounds great. I Haven’t had white pudding for years. I was introduced to Captain Morgan Spiced Rum recently - absolutely gorgeous! Have you tried it?
Hi @DJC3 , I hope you get better soon. My remedy for bug is a measure of port with a measure of brandy. As for the Capt Morgan, have tried it, but found it a bit too sweet for my taste. I really prefer a good dark rum. Authentic navy rum such as https://pussersrum.com/pages/history
Mainly make do with Lambs Navy Rum, but I am from a seafaring family. I limit myself to once a week imbibing, just have slightly more than a tot.

Today I didn’t feel like eating until after 1pm. Possibly due to the Sunday feast. Just had coffee, then evening dinner was romanesce cauliflower with German smoked cheese and salami, mineral water, and will have a glassof coconut milk before bedtime.

@Rachox - so sorry to read about your Mum. Hope she recovers soon. We had a similar situation trying to visit SIL. You were to phone the hospital (but only after certain times) to find out if you could visit and, if so, what time you were allowed in.

B. TAG and 2 slices back bacon with 2 fried eggs and 5 santini tomatoes.
L. Coconut milk
D. Repeat of yesterday. Butcher had given me so much fillet it was another 2 portions of stroganoff with celeriac fries (Hubby cut enough yesterday so, they were in a tupperware container in the fridge).

@DJC3 hope you feel better soon. My delivery today was very late. Shortage of drivers but it arrived and, they sent me a £10 voucher for the inconvenience. I also had time to REALLY clean the fridge!
