What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

3 x 750 mls Assam with almond milk and inulin from 5.50 to 11.20 pm then 2 babybels pre-gym
Hrs gym then (1.50) 750 mls coffee with 15 mls cream and 1 scoop whey protein isolate blended in + 2 h/b eggs + not cross bun (look at the protein) - didn’t taste the usually hideous “e” stuff.
Evening meal - highlight of my food week. Salmon salad with halloumi chips.
Brief visit has been good so I’ll lurk again because I really don’t want to go native. @Riva_Roxaban I take your point about deforestation but this seemed compelling to me.

Four slices of low carb cheese on toast for breakfast.
Nothing for smoko just my lemon cordial mix.
Pork loin chops, green veggies, gravy, pineapple jelly with a spoon full of mango sorbet on it for lunch.
Bit of a cheese board, olives and cherry tomatoes pepper crackers etc. for supper at six.

Fasted until dinner, when I made Tuscan Garlic Butter Salmon, small green salad, and a glass of Cabernet.

Been absent for a couple of days.

Am away from home and eating slightly erratically.

Yesterday I was participating in some medical research which required fasting bloods. Hadn’t planned on almost fainting during insertion of one of the cannulas! V dramatic and a first for me. That was swiftly followed by some M&S rollitos which I’d taken with me - a very glad of them as the options on offer at the hospital were very carby. That was around 9.30am.

Next food was once I got back to base - went to German Doner Kebab for a large beef ‘gymbox’ with onions. Then on to Hotel Chocolat for a deserved 85% hot chocolate.

Hotel breakfast and late pub lunch with a friend on the menu today.

@RosemaryJackson sorry to hear you felt off first thing.thought it was worth mentioning that a lot of us who eat low carb find we are just not hungry first thing and often opt for two meals. I tend to fast 18 hours and have 2 meals in 6 hour window. If I eat brekky it’s usually late - breaking my fast just slightly earlier at 16 hours. This isn’t difficult I’m not usually hungry and I would eat if I was.
Lunch chicken salad and a lowish carb seeded flatbread followed by a few raspberries and yoghurt
Dinner salmon in lemon butter with cauliflower cheese and green beans and glass of dry white wine followed by hm lc lemon and lime jelly cream with extra dollop of latest hm yoghurt.

Thank you @shelley262. I know some mornings I'm not hungry but I didn't connect it with low carb eating. I haven't got out of the 3 meals a day way of thinking. and I still feel it's wrong to put cream in my coffee! (and it's lovely), but it's against everything I was told was right. But I'm trying. I can only keep trying and learning. Last night my bg was 5.4, this morning 6,9. BF. 2 boiled eggs, 2 buttered Ryvitas with pork slices. Lunch will be pork chop with veg and gravy and I'm not sure about evening meal.

Friday Bed 6.6 FBG 6.9 - last 1/2 day then holidays start!

B. TAG then on return from school run, paleo granola and coconut milk.

L. Nothing

D. DD chilli cheese stuffed chicken breast with guacamole, sour cream and lettuce. Vodka and diet coke. 20220211_191117.jpg

It was a steep learning curve for many of us - trying to cut the fat out of our meals for decades because we were told fat is bad, and now the wonderful realisation that so many ‘forbidden’ foods aren’t unhealthy at all, it takes some getting used to! You are doing really well.

B: ff greek with berries and chia seeds. Just noticed the packet says to limit chia seed to 15g a day. Any idea why anyone?
Gardening, so many new shoots appearing, and so many weeds!
L: olives, bit of manchego cheese, 3 slices of pickled gherkin. 2 squares berry cake. Hot moccha
New zumba class means a later than usual dinner
D: 2 heck sausages with carrots, swede and cabbage, sprinkled with leftover mozzarella. Cheese crisps which I overcooked so slightly burnt flavour.
It's to do with their ability to absorb liquid. It's recommended not to eat too many dry seeds because of this (not that I have considered ever eating them dry!). Logically though, eating dry seeds, they could merrily absorb liquid in the digestive process leading to abdominal pain, bloating and constipation.

Still trying to eat soft food in order to save my broken tooth from getting worse. Next dental appt available is end of April and that will involve root canal treatment. Feeling miserable about the whole thing.
Breakfast was leftover spicy pork soup (DD recipe)
L cheese omelette. DGF cake and tea with lactofree milk.
Dinner will be more soup. Probably DD Philly cheesesteak soup or the no noodle chicken soup.

Interesting, because a few years ago a gastroenterologist told me to incorporate some into my diet as fibre to help with diverticulitis. I do find them useful to keep me 'regular' and everything moving smoothly. If I skip them for a few days the effect is noticeable.
Which is the opposite of the 'absorbing liquid' effect. Maybe I'm just lucky, or I'm hydrated enough to cope...
Any how back to thread topic now before the Mods wake up :angelic:

That's too long to be in pain. Try calling for earlier appointment or try another dentist (from a fellow dental sufferer). If the broken one is or becomes infected you could lose it, and others

No breakfast as Saturday is early yoga day.
Early lunch of leftover carrot and swede reheated with blue cheese and 2 falafel. 4 cheese slices. ( am clearing fridge as going away tomorrow)
Gardening and mid afternoon snack of 3 squares hm lc coffee and walnut cake (knew I should have frozen it!)
Dinner will be beef mince somehow, maybe bolognaise style with a sad cabbage side.

Evening all.

Hotel breakfast of a 3 egg omelette with onion, cheese and ham, with a side of bacon.
Post shopping visit to Hotel Chocolat for an 85% hot chocolate, just because.
Then a late pub lunch with a friend - will be going back as they allowed me to swap chips for buttered cabbage with smoked bacon. That sat nicely with a large burger topped with cheese, bacon and a fried egg. And yes, I ate the small pile of onion rings!

That sounds and looks delicious.
It was. It's a DD dish I've made a few times. The stuffing is a mix of red peppers, jalapeño, cream cheese, grated cheese (I used cheddar), garlic. Guacamole is so easy to make - avocado, chopped tomato, lime juice, olive oil, coriander and season. I keep it a bit chunkier rather than smooth.

i'm finding that out! But as yet it feels really sinful. But I will get there......one day!

Groceries tomorrow morning. I'm thinking either creamy tomato soup or something like cabbage carbonara. Or maybe something completely different will come up, we'll see!
That was yesterday. The broccoli was on offer so I figured I could use that with a creamy carbonara style sauce instead of cabbage.
Good thing I also bought the stuff to make tomato soup, as once home I found out there wasn't any bacon left in the freezer. :banghead:
I made very tasty little meatballs to go in the soup and used plenty of cream so it tasted lovely. But not as good as in early december, when I had some illness (Very odd cold? Covid?) which made me absolutely crave tomato soup for two weeks. I think I've eaten it for at least 11 out of 14 days as a main meal, and every day it was the absolute best meal I could imagine! :hilarious:
Now it just tasted good, but nothing like back then!

Soup again today, and maybe tomorrow, and more soup has gone into the freezer. :)
