Monday...
Breakfast skipped
Lunch skipped
Dinner celery soup, almost no carbs except a little onion in it... delicious!!.. 3 rashers of bacon to introduce some fat. BG came down all day and did not really go up after dinner... now 2 hours later it is down to 4.2.

Similar sort of feeling when the oxcodone kicks in, it goes down my body nearly instantly, then back up again to the top of my head. Then a nice fuzzy feeling while the pain dissolves.
As a former heroin addict (over 2 decades ago), I think I know the feeling, very apt description of the effect of the first inhalation of the day (minus the pain dissolving, that must be the best part of it I guess).
(Disclaimer: Do not try this at home, very much not worth it. Will make you puke too. Also illegal.)

Not the prettiest meal today, but pretty tasty, especially considering something had gone wrong with my planning.
For the past two days I've had chicory in a blue cheese sauce, snow peas with butter and salt, and a bratwurst. I made sure to have one third of the veggies on both days so I could have the same meal today, forgetting I only had 2 bratwursts and only realising when I was about to prepare my meal today.
Same portion of veggies minus the wurst definitely wasn't enough for a meal.

Found a long forgotten pack of vegan shawarma in the freezer, so I fried it with a onion, half a bell pepper and garlic. Added extra cheese to the chicory cheese sauce and mixed everything together with the last of the snow peas. :hungry:
Worked very well, and enough left for tomorrow too!

Toasted cheese and onion sandwiches for supper at six.

Is puking illegal in Holland? ;)

The fuzzy feeling lasts about 10 minutes as the pains dissolve and disappear, good for aout 10 hours till the pain comes back. I proballly need a stronger patch as I have been on the 50 mcp for a fair while.

Gunna get a special low numbered bottle of Bundaberg Rum Small Batch Distillery Edition: Extra Old Aged Spiced Rum., from the bond store.

Please make sure to get what you need before you actually need it!
The rum sounds amazing, but you still live too far away to come over and help you get rid of half the bottle. :(

Early: Cold brisket w mustard, sauerkraut. Home made yogurt.
Later: Baked chicken thighs. Cucumber, black bean and feta salad.
Later still: Flax bread w butter. Hibiscus tea. Few pieces dark chocolate.

*The flax bread turned out OK. I only had dark flaxseed though and the result is always a bit lighter using the golden variety.

Have you checked your temperature? I had some dizzy spells for a week after a nasty cold recently, with stubborn BG's. Finally I realised it's how I feel when having a fever, except I didn't feel feverish. Checked, 38.5, so that explained both the dizzy spells and the stubborn BG.
Went away by itself, thankfully, although I'm weird in rather enjoying that odd fuzzy dizzy feeling. :wacky:
Temperature is fine. I did think it is something lingering from the last bug but I'm suspicious about low BP too (it happens with me). I did go to my Aqua class yesterday but told the instructor that I might have to give up early if the dizziness came back. I made it through the session and got a litre of water down me at the same time. Felt fine after that, which is why I suspect either BP or just not enough early morning water.
Yesterday morning was a bit of a rush as I do the school runs then head straight to Aqua on a Monday. Yesterday I was almost at the club when I realised I'd left my pool shoes and I cannot keep my balance in the pool without them. I don't live too far away so, about turn, back to get Hubby to bring shoes out, then back again before Class started. I'd rather foolishly taken meds with no breakfast, just TAG, and quite a rush so I feel I'd rather contributed to it . My consultant at tge Eye Pavilion is also of the opinion that an imbalance in my eyes is causing a problem and that the surgery will resolve it. Fingers crossed .

Breakfast: 2 thin slices of h/m wholemeal bread - an experiment to see if this bread really doesn't produce a spike. One with butter and Dairylea cheese and the other with butter and Marmite. So far (after one hour) BG has dropped by 3 points, but we shall see.

Taken some of my pills, but I have a hospital appointment today so can't take diuretics. This will leave my blood pressure a little high, but since they will want to take blood, I expect, that's not a bad thing.

The local councillor just came to the door asking if we would mind if he got a ditch put into our croft to try to drain the road better (we are at the bottom of a little dip in the road, so water gathers there during heavy rain). Neil had actually started doing that before he became to ill to do the heavy work, so that's great. Turns out the councillor knew Alistair, but not Neil. He used to be a teacher at the primary school along the road and taught Alistair. Neil is almost 3 years older than Alistair, so never knew him.

Neil will go shopping while I am at the hospital so I have no idea what he'll be able to get for my meal tonight. I have a long list for him, but who knows what will be available?

Monday 14 November - bed 9.7 FBG 7.9

@Antje77 and @Riva_Roxaban - fuzzy head is probably the best description for how I felt. Thankfully, not all the time. Today though (Tuesday) I feel as if some lurgy is lurking! Paracetamol and a steam inhalation with eucalyptus is on the cards before anything takes hold.

Monday

B. Just TAG followed by that litre of water at Aqua

L. 2 slices of SLC toast with pate.

D. Leftover cold cuts. Ox tongue, smoked duck, stuffed chicken, 1/2 Scotch egg, coleslaw.Earlier I'd had a CC snowconut stick.

The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
This morning (was starving) I had a handful of green salad and two pieces of corned beef. Had work out and only now starting to feel hungry so will probably have chicken breast (asda) which I'm okay with and have it with salad

Ah well - nothing magic about my wholemeal bread. BG before breakfast - 14.0. Insulin at 9am. Ate at 9.30. Dropped 11/4 hours later to 9.6. Climbed another hour later to 13.2. Now 14.7. Wonder if that is it levelled off now. Hungry though. I might have a slice or so of ham before I go out.

Sounds like your dosage an timing were spot on, back to starting level a couple of hours later, and without spiking in between!

BG has decided to take a big drop - down to 5.9 now. That's after some ham and one piece of Lindt dark chocolate to try to stop the drop. I don't usually eat chocolate but got some of the Lindt in for baking. I've realised why I don't eat chocolate. I really didn't like it.

Edited to add:
I wonder if one of the odd things about me is that the insulin takes a long time to kick in - even longer than I allow for. Maybe that's why it's dropping now, long after it came back to the starting point.

Just to make life a bit easier - I'm exhausted after my trip out - I'm just going to defrost and heat the beef ragout I made a few days ago. Not going to add anything to it so it will be more like a soup, but that's OK. Doctor says get back to eating 3 small meals to help my liver - he thinks my efforts to cut down are leading to digestive problems which affect my liver :grumpy:.
