What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Brekkie today as usual, slice of LC toast and lots of tea.
Lunch was mug of brocolli & Leek soup and a couple of Higgidy mini quiches.
Supper will be cod loin baked with buttery chopped mushrooms and a dash of Teriyaki sauce and tenderstem broccoli.
i have now successfully cut out any snacks between meals though I need to stop buying Higgidy mini quiches (3-4g carbs) as its all too easy to grab a couple if I need to open the fridge! I always was weaker for savoury over sweet.
@maglil55 hope you recover quickly from eye surgery. I’m back on eye injections 6 weekly and agree the clip they put in to keep your eyes open is the worst part.
 
Mexican style chicken with a fried egg on top for breakfast.

I've realised I'll have to binge on chicken and/or sausages for the next few days - I have actually run out of space in the freezer (again) and can't get the individual pots of ready made meals in. There are 3 pots of curried chicken, a largish tub of spiced chicken and mushroom, half a pot of Mexican chicken and, 3 dishes of sausage casserole. They'll keep for a few days in the fridge but I must make an effort to clear some space for some of them.

3 March - bed 8 (goodness knows why!) FBG 5.6 - Normality is back today. Still quite tired, and I woke up to a very bloodshot, black eye. Very sticky, too, with the wash they use on the skin post surgery. @PenguinMum - My brother got monthly injections when he was still with us. The post-op jab wasn't sore, just a very solid pressure. At least for the op itself, the clamp is a kind of silicon sticky thing built into a sterile cover. I'm not sure I still have eyelashes! I totally agree on the "Clockwork Orange" metal clamp, and it was only us 2nd eye bods getting this. Anyway, I've had a nice restful day, cleaning the eye with sterile wipes and working my way through the 14 daily drops (only 5 more to go today)

B. TAG and a bit crustless quiche.

L. Couple of slices of SRSLY fruit loaf, which I almost cremated in the toaster. Fine once buttered.

D. My wonderful butcher took an order from me and got one of his sons to deliver it when the shop closed. They have a restaurant as well and they make up some meals to sell just for microwave (which is ideal for us currently). Tonight, I had a chargrilled chicken breast, in a leek and mushroom sauce, with asparagus and a spoonful of truffle mash. It is excellent, and considering my BGs are at 4.6 currently, didn't have any adverse reaction.

Will probably have a CC little chocolate pot later. I've also had 6 almonds as I felt a bit queasy earlier.
 
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a food dr bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Dinner: Brie with a tiny bit of cranberry on a LC roll with baby yellow tomatoes and coleslaw followed by DGF lemon drizzle with cream.

 
The other half of yesterdays arugola salad with smoked fish and a slice of low carb bread with egg mayo, lots of raw onion, and sucuk.

I have surprise sleepover dogs again so all 4 dogs got a piece of egg mayo bread, and all dogs plus cats got a piece of fish so lots of happiness all around.

6.30am - 2 slices slc bread toasted & buttered and filled with corned beef. Mug of earl grey tea to set me up for the day

elevensies - 1 banoffee pie low carb bar from B & M. Another mug of earl grey tea

Dinner - Large mushroom & onion omlette. Half a bar of 85% moser roth (I still haven't seen the 90% one yet in my local Aldi)
 
Oh. Something with carbs will need to be eaten in about an hour or so.
Wanted to take a 2 or 3 units correction for being at 6.3 with a slow rise, got distracted vaguely thinking about something to do with numbers. In this case with the number 6. Don't even remember what I was thinking about, the hours of sleep I had last night, a song, the number of chicories in my fridge or the amount of insulin I took this morning for getting out of bed.
Realised I took 6 units instead of 2 or 3 right after injecting (so happy with a pen that remembers your last dose!) so not a big problem at all.
But I'm not used to eating carby stuff at this time of day, no idea how much I need but I know it will be more than earlier in the day.

I brought a juicy ripe pear (bought for the guinea pigs) from the kitchen and will eat some as soon as I start to drop.
Let's hope it'll work out fine, I'll be asleep before the insulin wears off and in the first hours of sleep I usually sleep very deep and likely won't wake up from Libre alarms, especially considering I haven't been sleeping very well.

Not a big problem at all, but it's a long time since I felt this much out of my depth with my diabetes!

Long story short: I'll have a little bit of a pear and I'll put the jar of delicious honey next to my bed just in case.
 
10:30 2 cold sausages, ff greek
Went out better prepared today so as unbreakfasted hubby marched us into a cafe at 1, I just had coffee with cream and was quite content just to watch him munch cheese on toast.
18:30 pub posh burger with cheese and chilli. Had them serve just half a portion of chips, which I then shared with himself. He also ate the bun.
A 50g ice cream when home again.
Oh did have glass of white with a lot of soda

B: weetbix, yogurt
L: corned beef sandwich with hot English mustard
D: Thai green chicken curry with rice

Today
B: all-bran, blueberries, orange juice (dropped my BSL a few mmol/L hahaha. Taken that sensor off, it was starting to annoy me, and will rely on strips until Monday)
L: corned beef sandwich with pickled mustard stuff (dunno what the official name is)
D: to be determined
 
Morning all. Cwc and I always eat at lunchtime (unless I'm not hungry) and today I'm having 2 lc sausages with 2 eggs fried in butter and tomatoes. Then I'm going out to a quiz at a nearby church. They also provide a lovely tea so will have to be careful. Thinking about not being hungry, for so many years I have had a fear of going hungry. I never thought I could fast like I now do. I wonder if it comes from the war years when food was scarce? The war rations were extremely small. But we were healthy. I bet not many were Type 2's!
 
Update: Today's dinner was fresh salmon. Just cooked with salt & pepper and served with mashed potato, avocado and fresh asparagus (avo and asparagus grilled with the salmon, salt and pepper). Grilled isn't the right word, I did it in a pan but I can't think of a better word at the moment. Fried? Pretty simple, but nice
 
Breakfast: Some of the sausage casserole with 2 very small, fried eggs. Alistair managed to find a box of 10 "mixed size" eggs in the supermarket when he did his shopping. Mixed size seems to mean from very small to small. But they are eggs, so better than nothing.

2nd meal will be: another chicken dish. Might be the curry or might be the rest of the Mexican style chicken.

Having just told Maglil how much I hate the idea of anything being done to my eyes, I have just received 2 appointments for the end of April, 1 for the Orthoptic clinic and 2 for the Opthalmology clinic. Don't imagine that there's any potential for surgery though, so I shouldn't panic about it.
