What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Woke up with a horrid cold and sky high fbg which didn’t come down all day (and probably won’t for another week or so) Time to take it easy.
B- 2 boiled eggs
L- h/m smoked mackerel pate and lettuce in DGF wrap. Then one of the IP custards from yesterday with blueberries.
Snack - few nuts
D- Chicken thighs in creamy, garlicky, mushroomy sauce with stir fried greens ( which included Cauliflower leaves - thanks for the recommendation @Antje77 )
 
Like is for the food, not the bug! Hope you feel better soon. If you need brightening up, I'm currently watching Great British Railway Journeys, and Michael has a very bright combination of a lime green shirt, turquoise jumper, and a pink jacket! Even more colourful than normal!
 
Usual busy Monday so in this situation my usual solution -preparing and packing to take with me my faithful boiled eggs. Yesterday bought some lovely pink Yorkshire forced rhubarb and slow cooked it with ginger root and lemon on Sunday Evening and am planning to use it to make some low carb crumbles tomorrow.
First thing kefir with lemon zest and a teaspoon of my cooked rhubarb.
1ish two boiled eggs
5ish confit Duck Leg with salad and LC wrap followed by LC blondie warmed and served with yoghurt
@DJC3 hope you manage to rest up and fight the nasty cold. It's weird isn't it how fighting these viruses raises the bgs and how it's often the first sign of a bug when your bgs go up.
 
No breakfast as Monday is exercise day.
Pub lunch, and fed up of burger, I tried going for frito misto - squid, whitebait and scampi fried served with aioli (garlic mayonnaise). It was on menu as a starter so I asked for a double portion. In fact it was huge, and more was in breadcrumbs than I'd expected. Didn't test bg but still feeling very full 7 hours later.
Did try to mitigate it a bit with a quick but strenuous walk for 30 minutes after.

Will make it omad for today, but feeling guilty at the lack of veg and fibre

Am going to put myself on a libre when I get back home later in the week. Must get stricter again
 
Monday 13 March - bed 6.5 FBG 6. I'm using a lot of precious strips these 2 weeks as my Libre Sensor is well out. I'll be claiming for this one!

B. TAG - that's all as a reminder came up on my mobile for the chiropodist.

L. Early - a bit crustless quiche

D. A LC wrap with prawns and Marie Rose, lettuce, tomato, and smashed avocado. A mug of tomato soup on the side. CC little chocolate pot may follow later.

I wasn't too great last night. My legs were in severe clench mode, and it can creep upwards, interfering with breathing. The only relief is to get the leg muscles to loosen off. I'll be working on them later! Weather is appalling. Torrential rain this morning (but 11°C). By 3.20pm, it was 2°C and bitterly cold.
 
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and DGF lemon cookie
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: coffee shop coconut cappuccino and a carb killa bar.
Dinner: chilli con carne with cauliflower rice followed by SF blackcurrant jelly and cream.

 
Breakfast: remaining veg from last evening's meal plus 2 very small fried eggs. Tea (of course)

Might need a lunch today. I'm feeling very hungry right now but I have some smoked salmon and some ham as well as some cheese, in the fridge so will just put some sort of plate together with those. Would have had some lettuce leaves to go with it, but I used it in the veg dish yesterday and, due to snow stopping lorries getting to Ullapool, shelves are empty in the shops so no fresh lettuce, and not much fresh else either. No eggs, no baked products (so no crumpets for Em), no fish, no milk, no veg, little meat. So, just meat and cheese then.

For later: I do have some carrots and onions left and I do have a pack of stewing beef so will make an old-fashioned beef stew. Good choice on a day like this - it's bright but we have a heavy covering of snow and the weather app says it's 4C outside, but that's probably in the town - outside here it doesn't feel like that.

My crockery is all odds and ends - I do have a set of good plates etc, but they are Japanese and people are afraid of breaking them - so it's a surprise every meal to see what style of plate or cup you will get. Makes things a bit more interesting.

Hi All thanks for the kind thoughts re my chipped plate. They are Sarah’s Garden and I had four with rims of green, blue, pink/red and beige most of my married life. The green one got broken along the way and the pink/red one chipped but I love them.
Today I had my usual brekkie of slice of LC toast and copious tea.
Lunch was at a tea barn I hadnt been to before and was excellent crustless quiche, light as a feather, , h/m coleslaw not dripping in dressing and a small handful of fresh green salad. Lovely pot of tea made with leaves.
Supper will be chicken breast with Fajita seasoning and buttered broccoli.

Hope it doesn’t linger, so annoying the way these things send BG astray. I am thinking of the old adage “feed a cold, starve a fever” hope you can!
 
10ish kefir with lemon and lime zest
1ish my go to - mushrooms cooked in olive oil and two fried eggs served on LC toast followed by the peel from an apple OH ate rest of apple!and two squares of 100% chocolate
5ish steak and salad with small glass of red wine followed by hm LC rhubarb crumble served with yoghurt.
Made rhubarb yesterday in slow cooker with two lemons and a ginger root then made crumble mix today with 4oz of ground almonds and 1oz of inulin and 1oz of milled hempseed with 2 oz of butter rubbed in. Topped rhubarb with crumble mix and oven cooked for 35 mins plenty left so will feature for a few days yet! Lovely zingy taste and mix of textures.
 
After having skipped dinner last night woke hungry

Disappointing lunch at farm shop/restaurant.
Ordered chicken terrine from the starter menu with extra salad but it arrived pale and bland looking. Proved to be chunks of cold potato with 2 small pieces cooked chicken and 2 tiny squares black pudding. Absolutely no flavour at all and the texture of the unexpected potato was decidedly unpleasant. Ended up eating the toast (which I usually leave!) slathered in 4 pats of butter.
Watched hubby eat a tasty spicy potato and chorizo dish.
Sometimes I hate having t2.
Tried cheering myself up by buying, and instantly eating 50g of 60%dark chocolate with ginger. Heaven knows how high my bg went.

D: frittata of bacon, courgette and broccoli. Half a large tomato. 1 glass red
 
Thanks for the get well messages @shelley262 @PenguinMum and @maglil55 - I always laugh at Michael Portillo’s colour coordination too, it’s certainly a sight for sore eyes!
Early morning coffee today ( woke up coughing at 4:30 ) and realised I didn’t like it. I always go off coffee if I’m under par. Tea is different, it’s somehow comforting and uplifting, so lots of tea today.
B- cheese omelette.
L- h/m mackerel pate on SLC toast
D- 0 carb sausages x3, fried onions, broccoli. DGF frozen cookie with more tea.

Tuesday 14 March - bed 6.7 FBG 7.6. It's a bit nippy here too @Annb, although it warmed up a bit later. It was an interesting day here. Since 10am, we've had no landline, no broadband, and no TV! Just to add to the mix, we had no water for a while, and that happened while the washing machine and dishwasher were on the go. They promptly stopped! We have had the Water Board working on the fire hydrants for 2 days, and it seems they damaged the fibre optic cables for everything else. We do have water back but nothing else, plus it's mucked up our Hive Heating, which now thinks it's 3 am Friday, and it's put the heat way down!

B. TAG and eventually, 2 slices of SRSLY toast with egg mayo

L Nothing - too busy with everything going do lally

D. Age dried burger on a SRSLY seeded roll, mustard, cheese slice, coleslaw, lettuce, tomatoes. Peroni 00.

The wonders of no broadband or TV - I got a mountain of ironing done but. Hubby was grumbling a bit at being given tasks to do! Hopefully, normal service will be resumed tomorrow.
 
Oh Maglil, that's miserable. Even though the water came back on, it is still disruptive. Then you've had to deal with the loss of broadband. landline and TV. Hope it is all back on by now.
