What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Sunday 19 March - bed 6.5 FBG 6.1 Boys were not too early to emerge. I first heard them at 7.25 a.m., but they were quietly watching TV. They are on a bacon kick at the moment for breakfast.

B. TAG with bacon & egg and a slice of SRSLY toast (need to take another loaf out of the freezer)

L. Nothing - having deposited boys home, I had to return later to take the youngest to his swimming lesson.

D. Usual campari and soda. Gammon with an Agave glaze, carrots and turnip, cauliflower cheese and I nicked a boiled potato from Hubby.

@shelley262- hugs the firsts are the worst.
 
Good evening

Breakfast was a protien yogurt.
For lunch I had a low carb wrap with salmon, salad and tzatiki with some avocado and some keto brownie balls.
Dinner was a feta and olive salad and a low carb cheesecake I made.
Went a little over my calorie and carb allowance (both pretty low) but as its mother's day.....

I found them in sainsburys today. £2 a bag. They had the white choc and raspberry and peanut butter cup ones too (which I bought too) they are delicious!

Already had my breakfast this morning. My BG was 5.6 at 2.30 am but had risen to 8.9 by 6 am so I decided to take a smallish bolus dose and have breakfast early before it went any higher. BG now is 6.5 - much better.

Breakfast was scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Not sure if it will keep me going as long as bacon and eggs does, but I didn't feel like having bacon today.

2nd meal could be more of the butter chicken - there are 2 portions left in little plastic boxes, ready to be frozen but I may just have one of them and not bother cooking anything else. I do have some lamb chops to use though, but if necessary, they can wait another day.

At present I am trying to keep the carbs just the ones in whatever veg I am eating and that does seem to be working for me. O tried looking online for NHS thoughts on low carb since Diabetes UK says the woe is trusted by the NHS, but all I can find, so far, is disapproval and nothing to support the statement that the NHS trust it as a treatment. Does anyone know a site that gives positive official NHS thought on low carb for either diabetes or liver problems? All I have found is a statement that we should be getting half our calories from carbs and that for liver problems we should be eating carbs 5 times a day! Not that any of that makes me decide to change back to eating much in the way of carbs but I would like to be able to point to something for my medics to read.

ta, an easy make as well, could eat every meal similar - swap the meat out for something else, or eggs, or add (a little) hoummus or whatever and wouldn't get bored.

Yesterday was roast chicken thigh with crispy skin in onion and own gravy with cabbage and fennel

daughter keeps offering me carby things bless her, "Dad.. do you want a roast potato? a mint humbug? a sandwich!!!, they are nice!"

politely declining and not tempted at all.
 
Morning all on this very wet morning! Today is pensioners lunch day and I have run out of crackers and forgot to get some more so I might well be tempted to have the pudding. I can but try. Looking forward to the weekend. My son and his family are coming over from USA and Paul is staying for a month! My granddaughter is staying for good, she has always wanted to come back and live in England. She is also bringing her cat with her!!! My DIL has to go back for work on 1st April. My Irish granddaughter is coming up for the weekend from London and staying with me. I am so excited. Have a nice day everyone.

i wasnt due to see either son yesterday but when Mr PM took me out to brunch my youngest was already there sitting at our table, a lovely surprise! @RosemaryJackson lovely family news from you, spending time with our children or grandchildren is the best.
yesterday brunch was scrambled eggs on one slice brown toast, half grilled tom and fried mushrooms plus Mr PM’s bit of black pudding.
supper was h/m chicken curry with cauli rice and a few glasses dry Rose.
Today had my usual brekkie of slice LC toast and copious tea (not octopus tea lol). Lunch will be cold plate of ham, cheese and chopped salad and a few pickled silverskin onions.
Supper will be well seasoned baked chicken breast, cauli cheese and mashed swede.
CAN I ASK now I have discovered the miracle of cooking whole swede in the microwave does anybody know if you can do the same with whole celeriac?
 
Yes, you most definitely can. I've tried it with both veggies and it works well for both of them.
 
Just had a phone call from someone trying to sell me African Mango Supplement. I thought it was a genuine health care call at first, but it soon changed to a sales pitch. I told her that I don't buy anything over the phone and she left it at that. However, I did look up AMS and the articles seem ambivalent - it might help all sorts of things but there's no evidence. It doesn't appear to be dangerous. Does anyone know anything about the supplement? If it does help with weight loss, maybe I could try it to get rid of some of my excess stones.
 
Yesterday was a combination of leftovers.
Very cheesy veggies (learned that I love kohlrabi this week) and a cold chipolata sausage on egg mayo, all served on endive leaves.
Tomorrow is shopping day so I'll have to wing it again tonight with whatever is in my kitchen.

I don't know anything about the supplement, but I think it's highly unlikely that an African mango will cause weight loss, even if it's dried, ground up and put in an expensive capsule.
If so called weight loss supplements would work, they would be owned by rich medical companies and prescribed by doctors, and they certainly wouldn't need to try and lure customers by selling over the phone.
But that's just my thoughts, not based on any research.

I love Google and I want octopus tea now.

 
Me too! Would love to geet some of these, but they're a bit on the pricey side, so I don't think I will.

Coffee and unsweetened almond milk
Prawns tomato and cheese
Cheese Brie tomato
Strained yoghurt
Suspect too much cheese today!
 
10ish back to my usual small portion of kefir and lemon and lime zest to take my supplements with.
12.30 ,leftover chicken leg with some kimchi and sauerkraut followed by 100% chocolate and LC ginger cookie.
5ish frittata, shared with OH, had in it some leftover chicken, ham, mushrooms, a couple of sliced tomatoes and olives plus four eggs, seasoning and herbs and added generous portion of grated cheese before putting whole frying pan under grill to finish cooking and browning the top. Served with a mix of sauerkraut and coleslaw. Followed by LC blondie warmed and served with yoghurt.
