What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening @jpscloud. If temporarily unavailable locally, I buy macadamia nuts from Buy Wholefoods online. Nuts from this firm are always top quality, service fast and efficient.

I had a problem with pecans from this company, they had a taste and smell of curry powder. I raised it with them and they instantly refunded my money but weren’t sure why the odd taste - no one else had reported this.

Early post for me as I’m doing a virtual wine tasting this evening! It’s run by the company I bought the lovely low carb lager from, they also sell low carb and low cal wine. Most are fairly low alcohol too, but that’s probably not a bad thing.
B- scrambled egg
L- tuna melt muffin. A slight variation in @Rachox ‘s recipe - this uses blitzed cottage cheese in place of the mayo and sour cream. H/m yoghurt with raspberries and seeds.
D- gammon steak, cauli cheese, and steamed greens. Choc chia pud to follow.

Still feeling pretty rubbish.
Coffee and cream x 2
Coffee and unsweetened almond milk
Yog and raspberries
Corned Beef and tomatoes
Yog and raspberries.

Enjoy your virtual wine tasting it looks like fun. I'm going to try making the diet doctors cheesecake recipe you recommended this weekend - although I've been working out quantities for a smaller 8inch tin version as just for the two of us - although will still probably freeze some. I've also got cooked lemons left over from the rhubarb cooking earlier in week so may liquidise a whole cooked lemon sans pips of course to give it a deep lemon flavour it worked so well in my lemon and ginger buns. Will report back at weekend if do it.

Just small kefir with supplements first thing
Lunch kimchi, sauerkraut and some cheese with LC seeded crackers then a cocktail of a spoon of each of my three hm yogurts and cooked rhubarb
Dinner a real treat of steak with cauliflower mash, mushrooms, a few onions and tomatoes plus spoon of hot horseradish.

Just had hm LC lemon ginger bun with decaffeinated coffee.

@RosemaryJackson very glad things are improving!

I'm still struggling with a slight cold, and not sleeping well at the moment - restless leg type thing with my leg and butt muscles but it's not the worst. Stayed busy today, finished the beef and cauli/roasted veg mix and my tesco order arrived, with macadamia nuts that are fine thank goodness! So have had a couple of those. Going to have some fine green beans and cauliflower with chicken thighs and bacon for tea in a minute.

Hope all who are suffering even a little bit feel better soon x

Know this thread is about food but I do drink a fair bit of black coffee love that two cups of coffee equate to one banana in total fibre content and as I can't tolerate carbs in bananas good news for me!

It's really surprising that coffee has fibre! I love it too so, bonus!

I hope you like it, I’m sure you will. It’s a very easy recipe too ( which suits me). A lemon cheesecake would be heaven so I hope that works.
You’re right re the chocolate olive oil cake, definitely reminds me of Goonergal - I remember her posting about taking it to work ‘dos’

Evening @ RosemaryJackson.

That's reassuring. A rare complaint may well be of interest to your prescribers, but you're better off with a common or garden ailment, that they will have had plenty of practice managing!

It's good to hear things are improving. The eye and surrounding tissue is such a sensitive area.

Sorry to hear that @DJC3. Until now, I'd never heard a bad word about this firm.

My most recent purchase of pecans from BWO was sourced from the USA and, as always, arrived in perfect condition.

Evening all

Today:

B: Two poached eggs topped with a knob of butter, avocado and three crevettes seasoned with black pepper.
Water to swallow tablet.
Espresso.

L: Mushroom and spinach frittata made with eggs, Cheddar cheese, onion, double cream and thyme.
Vegetable tray bake using broccoli, cauliflower, sweet red peppers and leeks drizzled with olive oil.
Steamed French beans smothered with butter.
Skipped pudding.
Water to drink.

D: Seafood salad made with mussels and brown shrimps, lettuce, Romano peppers, celery, baby plum tomatoes, Kalamata olives, lemon verbena and salad onions, with a dollop of home-made aioli for dipping, topped with roasted macadamia nuts..
Water to swallow tablet.

The manufacturers of phd Smart bars have ‘improved’ their bars, but I don’t think they taste so nice. They have also decided not to list the carb count for the polyols. After an email convo with their nutritionist, I have all the Polyol values of the different flavours. However I won’t be eating them routinely as I would have to trust that the values don’t change without me knowing, in any case I prefer carb killas!
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and another carb killa bar.
Dinner: LC cauliflower cheese with mushrooms and runner beans.

It's so frustrating isn't it! I always sigh when I see that a company is "improving" a product I like. These days it means reducing more expensive components and adding cheaper ones. I'm starting to feel a level of distrust towards any food manufacturers now, the result of watching too many you tube documentaries on food fraud, food safety etc!

Woke very early, only dozed after.
10:30 2 fried eggs on 2 slices livlife bread.
Dance class followed by lidl shop. They are giving a free bakery item with every shop. I must stop getting it
That lead me into a carb fest of bad stuff. No excuse.

D: fish with cucumber and coleslaw.

Cheese platter is going to be the main dish... we are calling it "cheesy night", nothing but cheeses, nuts and crackers. Looking forward to it
In that case, no, a cheese platter wouldn't be the right dessert!
What about something with raspberries and cream? A fruity dessert sounds nice after lots of cheese.

Like @Rachox I had runner beans (with blue cheese) and a cheesy dish.

Mine was 'kaasschnitzels' (cheese schnitzels) like my mum used to make, except mine are low carb. Instead of the two layers of breading she used, I used one layer of almond meal to prevent leaking, and one layer of crushed pork scratchings, and I surprised myself by frying them perfectly!

Still behind - Arrrh! Friday 16 February bed 7.8 FBG 6.1.

B. TAG and on return from the Eye Pavilion, 2 slices of SRSLY toast with tuna and mayo. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. Gammon steak with cauliflower cheese and a few small bits of peach. A scoop of Halo Top with raspberries.

The journey to the Eye Pavilion was a nightmare. A culvert on the main route collapsed, totally closing the route. It was a very early start after working out a through city route. Thankfully, my results were good. The vision is still excellent. The pressure had increased again, but they are now convinced that it is caused by thickened corneas, not any disease. No return for a year. Whoop!

It was a one off and they resolved it without a quibble so it hasn’t put me off them. Like you I’ve used this company for years and still do. I think the way a company reacts to complaints and problems says a lot about their ethos.
