What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hello all, day 3 of zero carving.

B - coffee with cream
L - 1 homemade beef burger, 2 slices of bacon
D - smoked haddock with 2 poached eggs, small put pork scratchings.

So far so good

Hi all.

Checking back in after my 3 week holiday - had thought I would post from time to time while away, but obviously not!

Today:

Breakfast - none

Lunch - none. Accidentally started skipping lunch most days from the second week of my holiday - got a gippy tummy so didn't eat the rest of that day. Was flying the next day and planned to have lunch on arrival, was delayed and ended up waiting for dinner. Then just found I wasn't so hungry (maybe the heat?) so only ate lunch if hungry, which wasn't often. Will see what happens when I go back to work tomorrow (have packed a lunch just in case).

Dinner - Seabass fillet fried in butter with lemon juice, broccoli, 2 squares Lindt 90%

And while I was away, I discovered this wonderful snack. It's an American product, but bought it at Starbucks in Toronto airport. Made only from cheese, crunchy and needs no refrigeration. Looking for a UK source - delicious:

Ah are you in the US? If yes well another time !

No, if you click on my avatar you will see it says Bundaberg Australia and at the end of all of my links they have .com.au which is the county code for Australia not the US.

It appears to me that geography is not taught in schools in the UK any more.

Interesting idea with the halloumi. Will have to try that.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - needed the lunch I took to work. Ham with salad (baby spinach, rocket, baby plum tomatoes) and mayo.

Dinner - Roast chicken leg with sautéed broccoli, courgette and onion. 2 squares of Lindt 90%.

Funny day today - the intention was to test the effect of a different foods on BS at each meal although that got a bit overtaken by events
B - ate a single portion of Oomi noodles (not nice on their own) and in 2hrs my Bs went from 6.4 - 11.3!!!
( the rest of my Oomi noodles sadly went in the bin)
snacked on smoked almonds and some goats cheese for the rest of the day, sugars now happily in the 5's so I have just eaten a piece of my home made low carb coffee and walnut cake (2g carbs)

Alas, I had the last piece of mine yesterday. Isn't it delish?
B Boiled egg, half Lidl roll toasted with butter & Marmite
L Leftover fish pie, topped with mashed celeriac
D Home-made beefburgers, home-made spicy tomato sauce, home-grown french beans (doing well here) and steamed mushrooms, having read that steaming preserves the nutrients. Prefer fried in garlic butter. Might add it next time.
I fitted a Libre sensor yesterday and tested today with a slice of Mrs DeeJay's granary bread buttered with sweetener and cinnamon. From 6.1 to about 8.5 in half an hour. It's a relief to know nothing's changed. If there hadn't been much change I would have had to start experimenting all over again.

Glad you like it - I love putting different things into the basic batter to make a variety of cakes - so far the coffee one, cocoa, raspberry, blueberry and one with a combination of apricots and a nectarine are my favourites
