What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi all.

A bit late posting tonight - had to work late and not home until almost 9pm.

Glad you enjoyed the fathead pizza @shelley262 I love it!

Was VERY hungry today and feel like I ate an awful lot - according to my app it was 2,300 calories and 34g carbs, which is considerably more than normal on both counts but not excessive.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - was intending to skip but was very hungry and with BG at exactly 4.0 clearly needed to eat. Went for a Coop egg and spinach snack pot, a peperami and a small bar of 85% chocolate.

Dinner - was going to a work event so ate at Nando’s beforehand. 3 plain wings, plain chicken leg with salad.

Passed a Montezuma’s shop on the way to the event so popped in and bought a bar of Absolute Black 100% with orange and cocoa nibs. Managed to get through a big chunk of that.

Inexplicably was still hungry when I got home. Went for the quick and easy Lidl protein roll with almond butter.

Hopefully appetite will return to normal tomorrow.
Sounds like your bgs were low and driving the hunger or maybe the cold. Pizza felt really naughty so was thrilled when bg was 0.3 lower after my meal - clearly it is keto even though it tastes very wicked. Loving this way of eating.

Agree! The pizza is so quick and easy to make as well.

I rarely drop after meals, but last night even after chocolate chia pudding only went from 4.0 to 4.2!

Will likely be high in the morning after the amount I ate today, especially as some of it was late.

Good morning all.

Wednesday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and xylitol. A cornsalad with Caesar's dressing and parmesan. Half a DD keto roll with butter. Half an avocado (was stuffed and couldn't eat the other half).

Lunch: Nothing.

Snack: Two squares of 85% chocolate.

Dinner: A DD keto roll with chicken liver pate. A bowl of soup (green beans, navy beans, beef). A wiener sausage with low-carb ketchup and mustard. The other half of the avocado. Half a tablespoon of mousse au chocolate, a tablespoon of Greek yoghurt. A glass of wine and a glass of mulled wine (made with erythritol, orange peel shavings, a tiny bit of orange juice, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves).

Your mulled wine sounds delicious and good for current chilly weather!

Yes, this is what I thought too. It is been really cold here yesterday. After a very mild January, I had hoped the worst of winter would be over -- but alas ...

How are the temperatures where you are?

Really cold here in uk too like you had hoped we were on way to milder temps but gather stuck with it for a week or so! Don’t mind if sky is blue but it’s a grey day!

Was sunny here so set off for a lunch time walk only for it to be raining by the time I got back half an hour later!

Hi all. Much more restrained and back on track today.

No breakfast or lunch.

Dinner was the remaining M&S salmon flatties (forgot to portion them out before freezing so had to eat them all within a couple of days) with buttered baby sprouts and cabbage (so delicious with salt on top), followed by chocolate chia pudding with cream.

I was also back on track today @Goonergal i was helped as busy with Pilates class in morning and then a dental appt early afternoon which helped me avoid lunch! Maybe it was also the thought of Friday weigh in! Doubt will have lost weight but hoping that will have maintained at least.
Dinner chilli con carne with olives instead of kidney beans and garlic bread made with half a Lidl protein roll
Pudding raspberry mousse

1.30pm 2 beefburgers with cream cheese and mustard
6pm baked salmon with jerk mayo followed by goatsmilk yog, and a low carb hot choc later

Trying to reduce protein and replace with fat, so today was a higher fat experiment. Curious to see how my bg performs overnight and tomorrow.

So...I think I've always known where I could improve. I have gallons of instant Nescafe and each 'splash' of milk adds up. Too many nuts....pistachios to die for and those seedy crackers have got to go, not to carby if you only have a couple which I don't!
So Im giving the almond milk another go and taking the nuts and crackers out for a bit and see how that goes.

Sue I find just watering down double cream really well and frothing it so it looks like more does the trick for me.know what you mean about nuts though they are dangerous to have in the cupboard! Good luck

Good morning all.

Thursday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with milk and xylitol. (Seems I had too much meat last night, so morning blood sugars were a bit higher. Therefore skipped breakfast -- by 2 p.m. blood sugars were back to 4.7.)

Lunch: A wiener sausage with low-carb ketchup, low-carb barbeque-sauce and mustard. Some Basque cheese. Half a DD keto roll with chicken liver pate. A glass of mulled wine.

Dinner: Chili rellenos (Anaheim peppers filled with cheese and then fried in eggs). Two servings of mung bean and edamame pasta (50 g each) with pesto Genovese. One glass of dry red wine.

Hi @shelley262. Using watered down double cream instead of milk for the cocoa is a great idea. I really have to try this.

Also curious about your chili con carne with olives instead of beans. How did you like it?

It’s wonderful as love the olive taste but still a bit of bite in the dish which I was missing without the beans I also use soaked sun dried tomatoes chopped up all adds to textures and tastes. Family said it was best chilli yet and my bgs were 0.4 lower after the meal so certainly didn’t affect my bgs. The cocoa is lovely with watered down double cream as is my flat white coffee.

I use double cream in tea - a bit odd at first, but now I love it. Helps keep hunger at bay. Just have to watch the "glugging" of extra cream as I wait for the kettle to boil - am now making myself add that to my food log so that I keep an eye on it.

Hi all what a cold day today! We had a lot of snow showers - makes me feel hungry!
Breakfast flat white and inulin
Lunch mushroom omelette
Snack - I couldn’t resist while making nut, seed and chocolate circles for the weekend ended up eating 10 nuts and some seeds!
Dinner chicken curry and low carb bread fried in butter
Planning gin and soda water later!
Difficult temptation weekend ahead with family visiting and special meals and treats planned will stay low carb but amounts may be more than usual will do my best........

Hi

Back to 2 meals today and no Friday fathead pizza - saving that for tomorrow.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - Lidl protein roll with butter and pate. Didn’t like the pate.

Dinner - salami and smoked cheese followed by chocolate chia pudding with cream and 5 Hotel Chocolat 100% buttons.

@shelley262 well done on preparing the low carb treats - even if you’re eating more with your visitors there staying low carb will keep you on track. Have a great weekend.
