I had a similar experience recently, popped into a shop on my way home, 2 bottles of red wine and 90% chocolate, lady behind me commented, “ooh looks like my kind of diet” I smiled and mentioned these were my daily treats while following a low carb way of eating, she also had a knowing smile on her face, her basket contained mince, peppers, an onion amongst other things so maybe, just maybe, she is a special person (diabetic) too.Slightly off topic ... went to supermarket to buy a few bits and bobs for me to snack on and for meals (everyone else in the house is a carboholic) and was amused to see someone with almost the same basket contents as me - steak, chicken (cooked for snacking), nuts, cheese, avocados, salad, blueberries and dark 85% chocolate. We had a half smile at each other and I wondered if I'd caught another LC eater shopping!
Hungry day today. Maybe it had something to do with the dreary, cold and wet weather.
@ziggy_w glad you’re feeling a bit better.
Breakfast - hungry on arrival at Ikea. Wasn’t yet opened and decided trekking round the store hungry wasn’t a good idea. Headed to Macdonalds for a muffinless double bacon and egg muffin. Had forgotten how plasticky their food tastes: first time eating there in well over a year. Don’t think I’ll be back.
Lunch - slice of Schneider protein brot with butter and almond butter
Dinner - Waitrose steak hache and lamb chop followed by almond butter mixed with double cream.
Much colder and decidedly everything I hate weather wise. Interesting day in many ways. Went to Ely, home of The Great Ship of the Fens. Came across Rhubarb and Vanilla Gin - released a bottle from captivity. Strolled around Iceland (it is opposite Waitrose) and found some interesting food. Frozen avocados, Halo top @3.50, low carb fish dishes - felt the need to liberate some of those. @Goonergal our boys love Steak Hache from the French butchers - just open an door in the wall, press and hache.
Menu:
Wakey Wakey: Tea
Breakfast : More Tea;
Lunch : Rhubarb and vanilla gin; Mocca coffee, Waitrose Americano cream, 100% Peruvian chocolate powder
Mid Afternoon: Tea - (the old 3 pint shuffle)
Evening meal: Caulielle - clearing up bits and pieces from freezer - Chicken breast, prawns, coley, mussles, chorizo, cauliflower rice. Saffron, white wine, tomatoes etc
Breakfast - wholemeal toast and peanut butter, tea
Late morning/nearly lunchtime - carb killa bar
Late lunch - Marissa chicken and cheese salad
Dinner - Aberdeen Angus steak cheeseburgers, avocado and salad. Greek yoghurt and berries
Another yummy day. Going to request another Hba1c blood test soon so I can see how my low carbing is going. I was only just in prediabetic last time (43 mmol/mol) but really wanted to take action and would like to see how I've got on, at least before the festive season!
The good thing is that I don't really like any of the Christmas treats like Christmas pudding, mince pies and Christmas cake so I'm not going to have to miss out on those ... because I wouldn't have eaten them anyway! I'm sure there's a low carb recipe that I can find should I happen to fancy something resembling Christmas pudding
Thank you! I did just find a recipe but I like reading about ones that people have actually tried.Somebody was asking about LC Christmas Pudding the other day. There's a thread on it.
Definitely pretendy paella - should have been Cauliella - and I enjoyed it very much. Re the poster, if I follow my rule of thumb - 70-80% compliance - I should be fine. @DJC3 We did find an IP paella but Mrs P's fodmapish diet swerves cauliflower so we did 2 versions using some of our collection of Paella pansIs your Caulielle a bit like Pretendy Paella?
I do a rhubarb and ginger gin (small-ish quantities in the SV). It's very nice with a low cal ginger ale.
Past-infusion the rhubarb is utterly delicious with a great big dollop of cream. It doesn't take much of the infused rhubarb to fast-forward one to squiffy central, so not anything to contemplate if planning to drive.

Also finished last batch of veggie and bone stock we made in the IP - definitely keepers those 2.
Is that each? Otherwise would that only be a double each?We only do about 100ml at a time, as tasters (aside from Ginammon), so we're not totally drunken sots.

Where did gopping escape from? Good method though. @shelley262 great that you have already made good use of the IP. Egg custard is something I have studiously avoided for 63 years - may be a step too far for me to ever take. Up there with ginger, cupcakes and The North for me - except I have never tried that one

Am I imagining things or did you say there's a Hotel Chocolate at Paddington?
I feel dark chocolate drops coming on. Will check their stock online. Has anyone tried their chocolate liqueur?Yes, there is!
I think it sounds like a very good idea. Perhaps an early Christmas present? And if you happen to over order a la vanilla extract......
