What a good idea! I poured my gravy off the slow cooker and blasted it for five minutes in a saucepan to reduce it ... Bit of a pain!
I can't take the credit for this idea - my Dad used to do it when I was little.

Bacon, one egg omelette and mushrooms in butter
Avocado and 6 macadamia nuts (had some nuts as a snack yesterday while out - and didn't have my meter - was high before tea so checking the nuts out today)
Beef stew, celeriac chips (4), cabbage and Brussels in cream
Now a couple of teaspoons of double cream is something I could live with during my lag between fasting anď breakfast if it slowed the rise.Pre-breakfast - couple of tea spoons of double cream. Didn't halt pre-breakfast rise, but led to a smaller rise than normal - up to 7.0 from 6.4. Maybe I'll have a bit more in the morning to see if I can prevent a rise.
Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs
Lunch - cold lamb with salad
Dinner - lamb chop with sprouts and broccoli, with a bit of butter. One tea spoon of double cream for dessert.

Lord only knows what this morning's is like as after depositing grandsons at nursery and school I've come straight to physio so breakfast won't be happening today. Will be straight to the remains of yesterday's stir fry for lunch. Not sure I want to know what BG will be by then. Went from bed at 7.8 to FBG 8.8. Maybe it will surprise me
Thank you - cholesterol was over 6 - can't remember if it was 6.3 or 6.6 - either one means I need to adjust my diet a bit.@Chook congrats on the HbA1c, whats the problem with cholesterol, is it near zero?
Well the hotel starred again this morning
B: Low fat yog 4.1g of carb per 100 all of which is sugar, and no spoons
Would I like scrambled egg? Yes please. She brings me a thing with mushrooms in it, what's that? Your scrambled egg sir!
Hmm more like an omlette - that'll do though.
L: Still full
D: might be on an enforced fast till the morning
My last cholesterol was 6.7 up from 5 a year ago. The Nurse didn't see it as a big deal, and nor do I. She was more interested in how my diabetes has "gone away" whatever she meant by that! - 2 weeks beach holiday????Thank you - cholesterol was over 6 - can't remember if it was 6.3 or 6.6 - either one means I need to adjust my diet a bit.
Why might you be on an enforced fast for dinner?
Your post made me laugh - I remembered staying in a hotel - Greece, I think - and asked for an omelette. The waiter went back to the kitchen and there was a lot of raised voices and (sounded like) swearing. Eventually a man in chefs whites plonked a SOUFFLE down in front of me and stood by the service door watching as I ate it. Could have been an episode from Fawlty Towers - I was just waiting for Manuel and his Siberian hamster.
I was considering making some breakfast muffins. I think I posted the recipe for that before but if notAs you might remember, up until recently I did suffer with DP that went on right in to lunch time. Now it seems to be a bit less each morning (although the The Apple Crumble Fiasco set me back) and an early breakfast seems to be stopping it in its tracks. I'm not sure its the protein/fat mix that stops my DP in its tracks or if its just the protein or fat alone. - I've sort of settled on a few breakfasts that seem to be working - some mornings its boiled egg and buttered lidl roll soldiers, other mornings its a couple of fillets of unsmoked (fresh) mackerel fried in butter and at one day at the weekend we have a Full English (although mine is half the size of Mr C's).
I wonder if there's anything you could prepare the evening before that you could grab and eat during your pre-breakfast activities. Not sure what though. Avocado with prawns? Egg mayo? How about keeping a few pots of those M&S chargrilled squid you like???
I'll be thinking about this all day![]()
I remember, I did make these when you gave the recipe before and they were lovely. They came out like bacon crusted mini launches - I put diced overcooked high meat chipolatas in mine. I had one and Mr C snaffled the rest of them. They would be perfect for you to enjoy on days when you can't have breakfast early - a sort of 'pre-breakfast' snackette.I was considering making some breakfast muffins. I think I posted the recipe for that before but if not
LARGE muffin tin - grease or just pop muffin cases in
Roll out 1 rasher streaky bacon and use this to line your muffin case or the tin.
From there you can fry an assortment of 'stuff' . Few sliced mushrooms, bacon bits, tomato, chopped onion , spinach?? The list is endless - go for two or three of whatever you like. Fry your veggie mix gently then spoon some into each of the muffin holes/cases . If you are making 6 then beat up 6 eggs and I add some double cream and parsley to it. Split between the 6 muffin tins. You can sprinkle some cheese on top, fresh herbs.....combinations are endless. Bits of mozzarella is good too.
Pop in the oven about 190 /200c fan and they are ready when they are risen and not wobbling. They don't take long. Thing is they are delicious hot or cold. Quick blast in a microwave warms them up. They become your breakfast.

Last night the waitress swelled with pride to tell me that"we always serve chips with potatoes sir!"
At least breakfast was low(ish) carb. The Dutch seem to export their best bacon to Britain!!! Just scraps, so thin they must have been carved by a surgeon. The only other food outlet nearby is McD. I don't fancy a 3km walk into town to eat bland food. The Dutch are bucking the trend of obesity in the western hemisphere, I understand why, their food has no flavour, maybe thats the secret?
Breakfast: Three scrambled eggs with cream and butter on toasted Lidl Protein Roll
Lunch: Probably won't need any but if I do then all that's left in the fridge is the ingredients for houmous and red onion wraps - the wraps being lettuce leaves - and not much houmous. (Looking forward to Asda delivery tomorrow)
Dinner: Beef casserole thing - big chunks of beef, caramelized red onion, herbs, red wine, stock, celeriac, garlic and a dollop of double cream to thicken it at the end) (currently in slow cooker) with roasted butternut squash cubes (not many) and roasted broccoli (lots)
Now that's one I'd be interested in.Lunch didn't go quite as planned. I was writing up @maglil55 's recipe for tiramasu in my 'must cook' recipe note book which then fell open on the page for almond one minute mug cake - so I had that with raspberries and greek yoghurt. Really yummy and I can't understand why I'd forgotten about one minute mug cakes - I used to have them for breakfast when I first started low carbing.
Now that's one I'd be interested in.
@GeoffersTaylor gave me this recipe I make them a lot.
2 tablespoons of peanut butter [ Tesco value one is 62p and good]
1 egg
beat together well in a mug
Microwave for 90seconds
Turn onto a plate
Eat on its own or with butter
