Yesterday:
B: out - so bacon and eggs, herb tea
L: leftover baked fish and broccoli dietdoctor meal. have decided that this is the first DD recipe I haven't loved. Actually, will go further. Didn't like it at all. Especially reheated next day for lunch!Had a couple of squares of 70% choc, just to clear the palate, you understand.
D: ummm... kind of forgot. Then Mr B got his fruit salad out and I filched 1 chunk pineapple, 2 slices of apple, 2 grapes and a large strawberry, and smothered them with double cream. Delish. BG rose by 1.5 at its peak, so pleased about that.
Today:
B: kipper and scrambled egg, and nothing to drink. Weird. Had a whole conversation with the waitress about berry herb teas, and picking my flavour, then she brought PG Tips caffeinated. Surreal. They were snowed under though (Mothers Day), so I forgave her. Wonder who ended up with my tea?
L: nowt
D: will be whatever is in the fridge with the shortest date.![]()
They're rather nice little beggars the McVities Thins. I actually got them for the grandsons as the wee one in particular is rather fond of sweet things at any time. The Thins are low in carbs, calories and sugar - not that he'd stop at 1 but he accepts 2 as reasonable.I know, but it always seems like a good idea at the time...
Wow ! Can't even begin to imagine what 2 Lidl rolls would do to me. Love them though.Egg bacon and mushrooms
Thai hake from Morrisons with leeks and Brussels plus cauli rice
I was really cold and (I thought) hungry: 2 Lidl rolls with lettuce and Blackstick Blue cheese - struggled through the second roll so learnt my lesson!

Help for lunch I small had green salad
two slices Yorkshire Ham and two pepper ryvitas.
One tbl spoon salad cream
Two small beetroot about size of egg.
Sugars silly high
What have I done
The diabetic nurse told me ryvitas should be OK..
Thank you three hours after bk down to 6.5.. I shall swap for mayo or none..Don't worry. It is just a work in progress.
It could have been either the ryvitas or the beetroot (they are starchy veg, and then they sweeten the vinegar too). And I believe salad cream is sometimes sweetened too.
Next time, try it without either the ryvita, or without the beetroot, and see what happens. You may find you can easily get away with one or the other. And you can swap in a few other veg or saladings, including avocado, coleslaw and similar, to make you feel full. I love coleslaw with a passion, and sometimes have it as a veg option with my evening meal, alongside cooked veg.
And I personally would swap the salad cream for mayo. Nicer, and lower carb.![]()
The Ryvita would do it for me. I can get away with one Ryvita thin if I am going to the gym but personally I wouldn't want to use up 14g of carbs on 2 Ryvitas. Beetroot can have a surprising amount of carbs/sugar too. As @Brunneria said you need to check one then the other with a meter to see what effect it has on you.Help for lunch I small had green salad
